Scanning game files

Did anybody else get a un-asked for game file scan today when opening the client i just got one but never had it happen before.?

edit: Its doing it every time i open the client lol something has pooped all over the game last 24 hours.

It has been happening to me this morning. It will do it every time I use the wow shortcut on the desktop. Running from the launcher seems to be fine. People are reporting this in the US as well. Each time it does the scan and says nothing needed to be repaired. Seems to be a bug in the last launcher update.

Yep I’m getting it too, everything seems fine in-game though apart from weirdly long loading times, although that could be Blizzard’s Patented Potato Server Technology at play.

Chances are it’s the launcher update that we got yesterday, it likely broke something.

yeah the update could be the cause of the problem.

Same issue here. It is happening since last update. I scanned the first time around, but now I cancel it straight away. A bit of an irritation.

It keeps scanning, updating, crushing wont let me play… WAKE UP BLIZZARD FIX THE PROBLEM with BATTLE NET, I want to play, what are we paying you for ?!

I tried all the advice that is available, but it did not help. Then I downloaded the entire game again. However, after having done that, Battle.net is back to scanning the game files - on a completely fresh installation.

Whatever it is, it’s stopping me playing. I followed all the suggestions but nothing. I even (God forbid) turned off my antivirus software but no good. GET IT SORTED BLIZZARD

Yeah, happening just now for me.
It wasn’t, it let me play immediately a few hours ago but I kept disconnecting, couldn’t even get to the character screen, so I stopped playing and closed the launcher.
Decided to see if I’m still gonna disconnect just now and yup, scaaaaan.

Happening with Classic AND Retail

Have the same issue, started today. Every scan reports no need to repair. Game works fine. Wasted my time doing some steps suggested in forums like delete .idx files and do a scan and repair, then proceed to uninstalling bnet and manually deleting all remaining files and folder from /programs and /system. As expected didnt do anything. Now i just cancel scan and move to game. If this doesn’t get solved soon i’m considering stop using bnet and go straight to game executable. No more store adds which me click it and i will save some euros. Do your thing lazy support, if there is any.

Irritating…

This issue still persists even after a Windows reinstall, so yeah it’s Battle NET that’s causing it.

EDIT: problem is fixed now with latest update.

It still keeps scanning for me, even after the launcher update. When I try to launch the game from the directory, I get a message that says Your World of Warcraft installation is damaged. To learn how to repair it, see: https://battle.net/support/article/6572, wich directs you to some steps like scan and repair wich the game is already doing over and over.

I have also the same problem. I have done everything to make it work. Every time I scan and repair or update writes this error. I stops me from playing and kinda annoying. I hope you are repairing and doing your best to fix it. Or at least say something about that you know or aware of this problem. I could use a little information. Thanks.

Thanks for your reports! There was a known issue around the start time of this thread, though a fix was deployed already earlier this morning.

For anyone that had issues with this prior to this thread, or continue to have issues after the latest update, I’d recommend uninstalling and re-installing the Blizzard app as a first step, and if still needed check out this article for more info: Blizzard Battle.net Desktop App Stuck at Scanning Game Files.
