Scanning game files

Same issue here.
Did uninstall BNet. Nothing changed.
Deleted idx files. Same

The Launcher Update didnt do anything either.

Did everything as Valedrin and deleted C:\ProgramData\Battle.net. Still keeps scanning and again and again and again and again

If I launch the game directly via WowClassic.exe I get following error:
“Your World of Warcraft installation is damaged. To learn how to repair it, see: https://battle.net/support/article/6572”

How can i update and start the game without Battle.net (complete reinstall didn’t help) - some kind of force update ?

Broken on my side too.
Did not work re-installing bnet or deleting idx files.

No, reinstall is not helping. I’ve done as in instruction but error still appear and Scan process is looped. Can you please do something with it Blizzard???

The ‘fix’ has not fixed it for me either - tried both the re-install of battle.net and the removal of IDX files and it still keeps scanning - if the original problem has been resolved the consequences of it haven’t for me.

Gotta love how the Blue marked his own post as the solution, when its not actually resolved.

Tried everything you guys said but its still the same, so I dont wanna be toxic but its so frustrating, at least give us an answer that you are trying to solve the problem, come on blizzard

Guys here is how I fixed it after billion hours wasted for scanning.
Stop scanning and Uninstall the game.

Manually delete all folders and files but:

  • folder “classic”
  • folder “retail”

And Install the game again.
You will have all AddOns, key bindings, taskbars, etc.

I think deleting the Data folder was a solution.

Dear Blizzard, could you give to this guy the salary of person who should actually solve this issue? Thx m8 it worked. I lost whole weekend, weather was bad and all i wanted is to spend some time in the game. Unfortunatly i lost 3 days of game time without possibility to play. One more thing - do us a favor Blizzard and do not make any updates before the weekend, especially crapy ones

The problem is solved with the latest update

still not working keep scanning

dont work for me

Having this problem too, even after the update earlier. Stuck on Update > Scan > Error > Update cycle of death.

EDIT: Just reporting that unistalling the game and installing it again fixed the issue. At least for now.

Same here, i’ve uninstalled the battle.net app. Removed the files that Blizzard recommended, re-install the battle.net launcher. Update the game, but i’m still stuck at “Scanning game files”. I wanted to play yesterday and was like “Okay, sure some scanning I don’t mind” But then 1 hour later and no results I shutdown my computer and went to bed.
When I got home from work today i’m doing it again, and guess what?! I’m still stuck at the damn “Scanning files” again. And the message I get is “Whoops, looks like something broke. Error code: BLZBNTAGT00000BB8” Guess i’m not getting my weekly chests at wednesday either. Because of this bs.

Same here, stuck in circle of death

Thanks for the fresh reports everyone! I’ll close this thread here as it has some confusing information with mixed reports of solved/not solved. For anyone still having issues after the recent update, please see this thread instead:
