The fire crackled and lighted the commanders quarters of the Scarlet Monastery. Raymond Clifford sat in his chair and holding the censer of light whilst staring deeply into the fire, waiting patiently for his newly appointed Inquisitor to return.
The door opened, and Nurind Alsenberg arrived. âYou requested my presence, Commander?â The Inquisitor asked, straightening his posture. Raymond stood up from his chair, putting the Censer aside on the desk and facing Nurind. âYes, there is something we need to talk aboutâ The Commander responeded. He pointed on the map of tirisfal which had been placed on his desk. âWe have spotted active cultist area around the western lake behind the mountain range, apparently they cross the mountains through this Mine in order to supply their Cult. We must snuff out this cult before they can become a serious threat to us.â Raymond explained, looking at Nurind with a stern expression. âHow many will go?â Nurind quickly responded. âJust the two of us, i already prepared everything.â he replied. âJust the two of us?! are you sure we can destroy a cult with just the two of us?!â Nurind exclaimed loudly, he could not believe that Raymond was serious. âI am a trained Paladin, you a trained Priest and now Inquisitor, and we have this.â Raymond picked up the censer of light, once more presenting it towards the Inquisitor. âThe Light wills our victory Father, and we shall achieve it, for we are its champions.â Raymond smirked zealously. Nurind, renewed in his faith followed the Commander, as they went outside for the Horses.
The Ride trough the glades were not particularly hard, strolling across the woods seeing the usual twisted wildlife along with some rotting bones in the distance, the biggest obstacle was crossing âLionâs Wakeâ as it is called, the scorched earth driving all the way from the northern coast to Lordaeron Keep. Fighting trough the undead soldiers of both the Alliance and Horde had taken its time. When almost being encircled by the ravenous skeletons, Raymond unleashed the might of the censer against the undead, the light causing them enough pain for them to shriek and fall on their knees, making them easy work for the crusaders to finish them off. After a short break of relief, they continued their journey west.
The nightfall had come when the crusaders stopped at the walls of Deathknell, with no guards to be seen. The crusaders would not be phased by marching into the lions den and having the risk of being surprised by an undead attack, for they had a mission to complete. After the long ride had been completed, they now stood before the entrance of the Mine, lighting their torches and beginning their descendinto the long mineshafts.
The passage through the mine was littered with critters and enormous Spiders, with the Inqusitor all too keen on purging them with the Light. After a long walk through the mine and a lot of dead spiders they reached what was supped to be the other exist, however all they find is gigantic Spiderwebs coating the wall. Raymond then proceeded to push against various points of the spider webs whilst Nurind would observed his surroudnings, seeing more than one wrapped in person hanging from the walls, and deciding to better stay where he was, in case trouble approached. Shortly afterwards there was one part of the webs that streched out more than the others, suggesting that there is no wall behind it. Whilst Raymond prepared to cut through the webs, a loud skittering sound echoed throughout the Mines. âWhat is that?â Nurind asked. âTheir Broodmotherâ Raymond replied, quickly cutting away at the spiderwebs. The sound became louder and more intense as the Broodmother slowly approached, her shadow visible from their position. Raymond was finished and had created an opening through the webs, odering the Inquisitor to quickly go through as their Broodmother finally went face to face with them. Th enormous spider as large as the mineshaft spotted the crusaders just as they were going through. it charged foward just as Raymond had made it through with Nurind, however not making it through the webs as it was simply too big. having somewhat mastered this encounter they finally arrived at their destination, with the moon shining on the lake, along with the Cultist camp in the distance.
Raymond and Nurind then carefully approached the camp, using the surrounding forest to stay hidden from unwilling eyes. Both observed the camp pointing out its weakpoints and patrol routes. Both then made a plan to firstly kill the patrols and then light the camp on fire and whilst chaos is spreading throughout the camp they will kill them one by one as they will try to put out the flaming inferno. Once they were ready to enact their plan however another reason to step into action. The cultists dragged a few civillians along with an unfortunate Argent Defender into the pit in the middle of the camp. A group of cultists chant in foreign tounges while their leader revealed a strange looking sacrificial dagger.
âThe hour of twilight approaches! let this paltry sacrifice appease the Master!â
The cult leader exclaimed proudly, raising the dgger into the sky.
âYou sick bastards, youâll never get away withââ The Argent Defenders was cut short as the cultist leader slit the throat of the man, continuing onwards with the civillians. This sparked the crusaders plan into action, with Nurind and Raymond both having surrounded the camp they lit the supplies and the tents on fire. the fire spreaded quickly throughout the camp from one tent to another, chaos between the Cultists insued. While most of the cultists attempt to quell the ever enlarging inferno, thus making themselves easy prey for the crusaders, their leader was undeterred by the chaos and proceeded the ritual. With Cultists either running away or being killed, soon only the Cult leader was left. âNâzoth! bring forth your empire to us, behold NyâAlothaâ!â The Leaders cries were only met with a thrust through the back, from the blade of the Commander. The lifeless body of the Cult leader fell to the ground, next to those of the civillians and defender. They had done it, and destroyed this foul cult, With Nurind looking around the area Raymond had a keen interest with the dagger of the Leader, swiping of its blood-stained blade on the robes of the dead cultist and wrapping it in cloth, taking it with him for the research of this cult. âCommander, look!â Nurind said as Raymond turned around to face what he found. A cage wagon filled with maybe two to three families, looking tired and straved. Raymond immeditaly approached the Humans in captivity. Commander Raymond and Inquisitor Nurind discussed about the fate of these Civillians, with the Commander doing what he thinks is the right thing to do. He took a long look at the men, women and children inside the cage before he unsheated his sword.
Bang!
The sword shattered the chain keeping the cage door locked, as the Civillians slowly exited the cage, the Commander noticed a Woman with a child in his arms looking at them. âThank you, we shanât forgetâ She uttered, before escaping with the other Civllians into the Woods. However the descisions heâd made moments ago would be stuff to ponder about for days to come, and he would pray he made the right choice, and always stay faithful with the light. Afterwards they would make their way home, hoping they would pass the same hurdles again as easily, and if not, all whoâd cross them would meet the same fate as the CultistsâŠ
