Scatter -> Trap was OP so it got shared DR

DB -> Poly is fine though, clearly.

Not that I disagree that scatter -> trap was too strong, but why do mages of all classes have a guaranteed 16 sec CC chain when they can kill someone in 3 seconds without casting?

Trap is instant and poly is a casted spell. You also need to be in melee range of the healer to db-sheep, while scatter can be used from range. There’s your difference.

Cast doesn’t matter when you pre-cc the target you’re doing it on, kinda the point of DB? Interrupt is irrelevant since you can just ring of frost instead (and you can just shimmer during it, twice if necessary). Any other CC works on a hunter as well - often better since they lack the mobility compared to mage, ironically.

DB is AoE, can hardly be considered melee range since it’s more or less the same range as scatter and your mobility is superior.

You can dodge and bait dB quite easily in fact. It is, despite people thinking mage has none of that, a skill thing. Propably that’s why.

Didn’t scatter work with MM hunter’s matery, though? Effectively making it larger range than the 20 yards.

The person you db-poly has 1-2 partners on their team that often have a plenty of ways to stop the 1.4 seconds cast-time. Sure, you can get the enemy team to stack on their healer (not too likely against decent players) or get cross-cc from your teammates to secure the thing, but that definitely requires more thought than scattering into an instant freezing trap would.

Maybe later into the expac, but for sure not on the current haste levels. If you get locked in the middle of a 1.4 seconds polymorph, you won’t have time to cast the 1.7 seconds ring. Those are the numbers you have at ~20% haste, and DB itself triggers a global cooldown too.

Blink > DB is instant, poly can be kicked and then you press ring of frost???

All the while having incredible survivability with Triune Ward.

Unfortunately Shimmer doesn’t.

I think you should re-read my other post.

It’s hard to get a polymorph off when you’ve got a rogue killing people in one stun?
