With the PTR with phase 2 announced.
What happens with season 1?
In classic, we had MoltenCore for 5 months.
In original TBC, season 1 lasted 5 months.
We are a bit more than 1 month of season 1 in and blizz is getting ready for season 2?
I didint mange to buy a single piece of arena gear, yet. I just finished gearing my first character due to the absurd BG queues caused by character boosts.
And the season is ending soon? … What is this?
We will have PVP seasons that last 2 months now?
I dont get it …
Nobody gets it. Even Blizzard don’t get it at this point. They just do stuff for the sake of doing stuff.
I don’t remember reading anything about s1 ending when p2 arrives.
pvp seasons coexist with the phases because the gear you get from pvp is equivalent(almost) to the bis pve gear of the phase
naturally i would expect the season to end when p2 starts, but we still have 1 full month before it ends, blizz will most likely release next phase at the same time as new world release
It shouldn’t. I mean the PVE content we are getting was supposed to be there on release. Back in the days people raid SSC/TK while season 1 pvp was still going on.
PVP seasons shouldn’t release at the same time as PVE content does. It never was supposed to be like this in TBC. PVP and PVE are separate. Ye there might be a chance people will use PVE gear like trinkets/weapons in pvp. But you mostly need RESI anyway so tier 5 shouldn’t be viable.
Season 1 will probably just continue until Hyal gets released or smh.
Season 2 started after Illidan and Archimonde had been killed back in original TBC. Season 2 gear was never intended to be equivalent to current bis PvE gear.
Exactly this.
It would be logical to release s2 with p2, but I dont know if they will since SSC/TK/Hyjal were open from the launch in original TBC. However, if they dont release s2 with p2 it means that the dps combos cough rogue mage Cough will be even more superior than they already are. #Fun I guess
Season 2 started after BT was downed? Sounds a bit fishy.
Season 2 started June 19th 2007, Illidan died June 5th, Archimonde June 9th. Season 2 belongs with t6 content.
Ye, We didnt had locked content back in TBC besides ZA and Sunwell.
So if you had a strong core raiding guild. you would be able to down BT in the first 2/3 months.
Raid bosses used to be mostly gearchecks. And once you got the tactics on point you could rush trough it quite fast.
That is not true. BT was released on May 15th, with patch 2.1. Hyjal was technically available, but the attunement was designed in such a way that no guild would realistically enter it until around BT release.
Aight well I guess thats the case then in original tbc. However, IMO they should keep the pace of pvp seasons more strictly tied to the raiding content since the gaming culture of this game has changed hugely. If there were rogues running around with glaives while the healers are still rocking s1 gear, that would pretty much mean the death of heal combos.
Ah ye, almost correct tho
My old brain doesn’t keep up sometimes.
They should absolutely not do that. The original TBC was designed in such a way that PvE players would not feel that they should/had to do PvP to do PvE. If t5 content and season 2 are released at the same time PvE players will feel forced into PvP, parlty due to the modern “gaming culture”.
yes, couse Illidan died 3 months before Archimonde.
And if they keep pumping OP pve gear to the community without upgrading the pvp gear it means that pvp will be just one big dmg fest. Which doesnt sound too healthy? And I really dont understand how pvp pieces are somehow useful in pve? I mean sure some like druid tanking stuff but thats pretty much it? Ofc pvp gear can be used in pve, but I dont see it being better? And as pve is kinda joke nowadays as the content is so old, I think its definitely not comparable to the original tbc situation.
If the goal is to recreate the original TBC experience, yes that is very healthy. If that is no longer the goal, Blizzard should tell us that in no unclear terms.
I think weve already pretty much established this game to be in the somechanges, rather than in nochanges zone. And I think thats the healthiest option for this game.
Forcing PvE players into PvP is not a healthy change.
Better? Not really. But it is a lot easier to obtain than a weapon that may drop once every 1-2 month and have 5-10 people in a raid wanting it.
