The difference is that back then, next to no guilds were actually able to clear those raids and get a meaningful amount of gear from them, so even though the content was technically out, you’d pretty much never see anyone with that gear in arena anyway, so it didn’t really impact the meta
Now, everyone will have access to that gear, so it definitely will impact the meta
No. They originally said they would release s1 alonside SSC/TK, s2 alongside BT/Hyjal, s3 alongside ZA and s4 alongside Sunwell. For good reasons they moved s1 start closer to release, but they have never said anything about moving s2-4 afaik.
I guess they figured that the gear from each season is equal to said tier. So kara/mag/gruul s1. Tk/ssc s2. Bt/hyjal s3. Zulaman mini patxh middle of season 3. Sunwell s4.
Cant see them really doing it any other way if they want season and pve gear to be on equal terms.
Id have my money on that pattern, but since blizzard does a lot of decision making based on external factors of the game, they might do it different. However I doubt we will be seeing s1 being active when BT is available.
No. They gave in to people complaining about them planning to go months without an arena season at release. Their original plan was ridiculous, about as ridiculous as releasing s2 alongside t5 content would be.
It took them about 24 hours to change their original plan though, so I doubt they put much thought into it at all.
That’s a pretty small subset of people, all spread across different regions and battlegroups. Gear from t5 content or higher was extremely rare to see in season 1, this isn’t really even up for debate.
How does recreating the original TBC experience “punish” all pvp players?
Surely that would be easy with a couple of good friends to boost and PvE gear to carry? Or isn’t that pve gear as impactful as some pvp players are saying?
The boost to arena points has already been confirmed to be implemented tomorrow for EU servers. Not a very brave bet.
