Season of Discovery - Addon restriction

Let me start with that I’m glad that there is no PTR or testing. Because that will just delay the inventible problem that will occur after few weeks.

From the classic panel, they were eager to let us explore and discover these new runes. But with how wow API is setup, there will for sure be addons that will pretty much mark the location of these runes which will lead to min maxing and “optimal paths” .

Yes I know that there will be written guides at some point, but still delaying this for as long is possible would mean that the “Discovery” factor will stay relevant for as long as it possibly can.

P.S: Same for raids and boss timers :slight_smile:

I’m pretty sure wowhead will have the locations of all runes the moment the servers go live

Yes. For those who want to optimise they can get addons eventually, WoW and addon creators have always been in a kind of arms race but you dont have to get the addon, although i understand it makes you feel like youre at a disadvantage

Simple solution: make the runes drop randomly and you can get only the ones for your class to avoid AH selling of runes.

There you go, fixed problem. Not perfect I am sure but at least this gives a sense of roguelike. Love it.

These runes give you a lot of strength and change the way you play your class… Much like the legendaries from Legion.

The Legendaries from Legion were RNG drops.

That was arguably the worst part of Legion. RNG drops for these would be a horrible idea.

You mean you didn’t like walking into Emerald Nightmare with a 20% dps disadvantage because you had the audacity to have wrong legendary(s) drop? I remember getting the runspeed boots, and I’m not gonna lie I liked the Usain Bolt roleplay, but it didn’t do much for my damage output.
