Season of Discovery Developer Update - 17 May

Stop telling people how to live their lives you toxic casual joe. How about you quit if you dont have time to play the game the way it is intended instead of insisting the game caters to your personal time schedule.

You know what happens when blizzard listen to casuals like you?
The game literally dies. When phase 4 comes and the playerbase is gone dont make posts asking why. Because i just told you. So gratz. You got what you asked for

Even if you play only 2 evenings per week for 4h each then time was already enough to play through whole p3.

And if 8h per week is asked too much then it is your own fault.

I don’t even bother with alts anymore, the grinds for rep and whatnot just too time consuming and boring. Especially since it’s hard to find regular groups for stuff so it’s too hardcore.

I think some things should just be turned into accountbound. Such as Warden and Supply rep items as well as being able to buy Ratchet and Dark Riders runes and send them over to alts.

Ratchet runes are available for “free” for the last 6 weeks or more. No more need for the 3 material quests

Yeah, I know, but I’d prefer it if they were accountbound so I could just buy all of them and just mail them from one character. It’d be easier. The travel to Ratchet for that rune is unnecessary on alts IMO.

the is not casual, I’m not asking this question. I see people playing. are you able to tell the tactics of the 4 horsemen or maybe the twin emperors? The reason is not that they listen to anyone, but that human resources are needed to optimize raids for SOD, of which there are not many.

and how do you think the game is conceived? In the classics, one phase lasted 4-5 months. now there is not even such a thing. It’s just the release of the Cataclysm, which requires few resources.

SoD isn’t going to last as long as other things, that’s why the phases go by faster.
And Cataclysm requires quite a lot of resources if the buggy state I’ve heard it being in is true.

What the hell do boss tactics have anything to do with you being casual to the point of damaging the game’s health?

yeah BS, i stopped reading

I’ve spent an unhealthy amount here and I’ve seen

  • some threads about the cadence being slow
  • some threads about the cadence being fast
  • many threads about PvP balance, classes too OP, gatekeeping, incursions, exploits.

I personally dropped out at the end of P1 because I refuse to get measured like a lab rat with parses and what have you. This is a game. I have enough stress, politics and competition at work. Also, I log in to play, not to spam chat for hours and then walk 30 minutes to the dungeon.

If they are now at the state of planning a ptr for p4 … ok we get at least 3 more months of p3 it seems

Why do you need a new phase if you don’t know the mechanics and your role in the raid will only be to wipe the raid and run as a ghost from the cemetery?

I know the mechanics. Its irrelevant to this topic.

Think it’s very simply, they realised P4 has to hit right on release hence the PTR. P4 is basically the official release of SOD in a way.

Plus there is no way around it, SOD like any other version of WOW atm is to keep people busy and subbed.

Cata is currently stealing some thunder so no point releasing P4, so they have time to iron out P4

And the way loot drops in ST you actually need these months to even get 1-2 BIS items, get 3x set piece in 3-4 weeks, the rest that drops is vendor trash.

yikes. if that’s the plan, then i’d say they’re going about it incorrectly.

if they want people to stay subscribed, its probably not a good idea to bore people to the point of quitting.

that’s just the way i see it. i’m not a mega gaming publisher, so they must know something i don’t…

or maybe they’re just highly incompetent.

Compitеnt not casual. what do you suggest? release all content in three months and every six months, launch fresh servers. there are people who want to play Cataclysm and can return to sod after mastering raids, just as they played Wotlk and Sod before. There are those who play hardcore at the same time. These are the main audience. What kind of idiot do you have to be not to understand this? Those who really need the game and Vanila raids will come back. And if they don’t return, then most likely there would be no sense in them as members of the raid.

I really hope you know what are you doing for SOD, because the P3 is the phase phase where we have the least to do ( no new pvp reputation, no new event pvp, less new runes) i expected something new with job specialisation but nothing (I don’t understand why they weren’t available at level 40)
Reputation crafting recipes are usuless due to the big gear who from raid, i hope they will be reviewed and updated, if anyone has any info on this it will be cool to have it.

in comparison the P2 was really short and surprise lot of people, it clearly makes no sense to have a P3 for more than 3 months… less people play SOD now and many of them just will cancel their subscription and waiting P4. (really sad because i really like SOD)

So i just hope the P4 will be very strong in content with many thing to do.

I see old gaming dads playing warlocks and mages that are not parsers and putting out 900dps in sunken while melee (warrior, rogue, also not parsers) doing 400-600, all single target depending on boss.

While my envenom in assassin build (improved damage against dragonkin,… improved poison damage,… carnage… 7% hit, 20+% crit buffed, bis weapon, bis gear but no enchants) crits for 1200-1400dmg usually, sometimes in infrequent occasions it crits for 2k+, happened twice, once 2200 and once for 3100. that’s some random weird crit damage modifier. I remember critting for very similar numbers in P2 (except those 2k+).

So are you dear blizzard rally sure about buffing casters even more?
