well if the raid is 20 me and my friends will stop playing because we won’t ever be more than 11 or 12

I feel like the forums would be the worst place to ask for player input. For the most part only the most opinionated people will bother giving a reply.

I’d suggest adding a few new NPC’s in capital cities that give Polls disguised as quests.
While you do run the risk of people running addon that auto complete quests slightly skewing the responses, it’ll be a far more nuanced result than posting on the forums.

Have the “quests” give some goofy rewards when players complete them, maybe some currency that can be spent on flavour items?

If you have to cater to retail players who invaded Classic game then please dont ruin the game for us.

Give them 99 % loot in ZG, AQ20 and new 20 man raid. Let em have AFK faceroll like in BFD and free loot. Give them HC insts to catch up.

But dont touch our BWL, AQ40 and Naxx for the real endgame for Vanilla nostalgia players with unique items.

10/10 post.

As someone who has lead a guild and raid for several years across both retail and classic, I can honestly say that going into SoD, we agreed that we would not be doing 40 man raiding as a guild and would likely stop playing after reaching 60 outside of a few ZG/AQ20 runs.

The reason being that, although we like experience and enjoy raiding, 40 players is just way too many to organise without it being a massive stress and almost a 2nd job for the officer team.

The announcement that MC will be 20 player has resonated very well with our entire guild and we are looking forward to it so much more.

My suggestion would be to keep this mind set going forward, but maybe just add two modes for the later raids. A 20 and a 40 man version. This will keep both groups happy, those who want the traditional, epic 40 man raids, and those that still want to experience the content, but can’t bring themselves to go through the nightmare that is managing a 40 man roster.

Not sure if we are in the minority here, but my small group has been looking forward to 10 man end game content since MoP, and have been enjoying how easy it is to manage our small group of people who work well together. Knowing 20 mans are coming and we are going to have to recruit, manage a roster, make more tight raid rules/track attendance, more personality clashes etc. is a huge bummer for us. It’s been fantastic only having to manage a roster of 10.

But then why shall people get free loot for doing a faceroll 20 man instead of challenging 40 man organized raid.

But if 40 man item is different and 1 % better its good enough just make a difference and keep BWL + AQ40 + Naxx a 40 man challenge like no other game than Classic have.

40 man bad
20 man good
10 man gooder

Cata is coming 10 man HC, Classic only special thing is 40 man.

You have like 2 other game versions to play: Retail + wotlk soon cata. Why destroy Classic ?

hm I dont like the 20man Raids at lvl 50. We like the Vibe in our little 10-12man Raidguild.
I think that ruin so many little communitys. Why no Flex Raid for 10/20/40Man? So everyone can decide how they wanna raid.
But this is how you destroy the small groups that you have allowed us to build over the past two phases

Great changes, loving SoD so far looking forward to the next phases. I feel like having this stepping stone between 10 mans and 40 mans is a great idea. As someone who did 40 mans back in the day and in the current classic I have no real attachment to 40 mans, as long as skill is needed and the encounters are enjoyable I dont think having 40 people over 20 is really that big of a deal, and I would happily see BWL/AQ40/NAXX all turned into 20 man raids.

some more detailed feedback on SoD as a whole as this thread might actually get viewed by the devs, from the perspective of a priest heal & shammy tank:

Runes, both the abilities and the unlocking have been very fun so far, great stuff. Shaman tank in particular has been a highlight for me.

Profession changes have been ok, the enchanting sigil is rubbish tho and not worth the expense (5 vision dust each time you want a +20 dmg/heal buff for 30 mins? pass.) I have enjoyed the questlines for the epic pieces from tailoring/leatherworking.

BFD and Gnomeregan are both great raids with fun encounters around the right level of skill needed. I was very glad to see healer gear in Gnome after having to share the caster gear in BFD. Need some “real” mail tanking gear in future phases however, the mail gear in Gnome is all a bit weird. More “fun” fights like Gellihast and Punch-bot please!

Both pvp events have been alright, but nothing special really. with STV being a little bit better, but the experience has been spoiled by the phasing & lag issues. Still managed to grind out the cat mount for my priest. The other bloodmoon rewards were far too easy to get tho, I got what gear I needed after 2 events.

A big disappointment for me has been the lack of dungeon content, I really enjoy 5 man dungeons but not having any new ones or any changes to existing ones is a real shame. Consider adding summonable hard bosses like the t0.5 quests, or even making whole new 5 man dungeons with a reason for someone who is already doing the raids to do them.

I’m already at the point where im raidlogging for both my Priest and my Shaman, and I dont want to level another alt even with the XP buff. More PvE content per phase would be very welcome.

Overall SoD has been excellent and i’m excited for whats next, thank you!

my brother in christ

there is not a SINGLE challenging 40 man raid out there

what made raids challenging was playing with 4-10 fps on a crappy dial-up connection, with noone in the group having any actual idea how to play their classes.

just compare the dps of the average player when MC came out in vanilla to the average dps of players when MC came out in classic

there’s bosses in gnomer that have more mechanics than all of MC combined for gods sake

40 man raid challenge is having 40 people do coordinated effort and I saw tryhards wipe in Naxx.

Its a brain challenge not agility challenge to press buttons fast as in retail.

coordinate what? logging in at roughly the same time so you can be invited to the raid?

everything else addons take care of.

Well why do people make 1000 Nihilums and remember who cleared Vanilla and TBC. But no one know who is retail super guild and no one care except some retail players maybe

Hopefully we can stick to 10-man raids for future phases.
My guild is 10 people, that’s it. Having to upgrade a roster by 10 additional people, will be tedious on our little server.

Keep the 10 man option at least, please, like how it was in Wrath, 10/20 this time around though, would appreciate it! <3

They already said they will give U loot in ZG, AQ20 and new Karazhan raid.

So why would someone take from us real BWL, AQ40 and Naxx. MC is already ruined…

There is a reason why 40 man raids stayed in vanilla. It works when people can work as a GM full time, there are no boss mechanics, and you could use a single spell from level 1 to the tbc prepatch. SoD was announced to have boss mechanics, and actually delivered on that. Anything beyond 20 man raids is not compatible with that.

Molten Core could just have the player cap reduced to 10, and be buffed a bit (ragnaros has about 1 million HP, thermaplugg has about 560 k HP, so MC would probably need the buff), and it would work as a 10 man raid. Other raids would need minor adjustments at most to make them viable for 10 man, like the pillars in BWL not requiring a rogue.

But why are we going from level-up raids with interesting boss fights back to vanilla raids? The difference in quality is absurd. We already did the vanilla raids again. There is no reason to do them yet again, for the third time or so, within classic. Stick to the new raids with actual mechanics, and just do the karazhan raid you announced.

Also, I would personally prefer 10 man raiding, since that is a very easy size to manage for a guild where everyone is busy with the rest of their life. Recruiting another 15 people would be a lot of work, and more work to manage. Flex would have been great, but if it isn’t viable from a technical standpoint, then that’s just how it is.

Exactly i’m seriously depressed knowing 10man raids won’t be a thing no longer. It’s been such a refreshing experience so far

I am personally happy with 20mans coming in phase 3. 10man raiding has already divided our pre-existing guild community and I am looking forward to being able to play as a team again!
