I have nothing left to upgrade, nothing left that can drop in M+. As a dps its hard to get in to higher keys and they are getting hard without premade/voice and progressing further feels empty as there are no better gear anyway I could get from them. My friends seem to be done at 10s and reducing play time/quitting. Could do some alts, but doing all chores for them takes time. I would like to progress my main, but raiding isnt for me, hand issues if I play so long without a rest.
What in devs opinion should i do now, just quit, getting new toys(gear) is the fun part, but a choice from 3 random items once a week that might not be what you need is not enough.
isnt it every season like that?
if you just farm for gear it is vault waiting.
if you want score, well this season is awful for pugging.
i dont think much will change so might as well quit and see if season 3 will change something as the devs are like always happy with their work so far lol
Start doing the vault on your alts if you want to play the game and have that much free time.
But on a serious note, you really contradict yourself with having a problem with nothing to do on your main, but wanting to do less on your alts. At this point just go ahead and take a break. WoW is not meant to be a year round game, just come in, play as much as you want, then take a break until you want to play again.
pretty sure blizzard wants you to play all year around at this point they just give up on doing better content and split the game into 4 to keep people playing with, classix, SoM, hardcore and retail.
although i reckon many retail players are not toucjing the other seasons like me.
guess you can rather say:
if you play >4h a day, the games progress will be reached quickly. if you have a premade, the gear progression will probably be reduced to weekpy vault after about 4 weeks
Season 2 those 639 ilvl would be replaced with the 1st hc dungeon 8/8 adventure item/gear if you look previous expansion the hc dungeon in season 2/3/4 would give a better item that the hardest obtainable gear from the previous mythic-raid .
Other than 2.5 k achiev there isnāt anything else to do in m+. Getting better score for ?
The raids are getting easier due the buff 7.5% dmg/heal etc ā¦ Mythic + doesnāt offer nothing and even worse with the current difficulty in pug area .
The game right now doesnāt provide character growth and because of the multiple difference in tier-gear per season starting with Adventure-Veteran-Champion-Heroic-Mythic make the whole progress through the season a repeat step that drives the people bored .
They had a linear progress that was for everyone . Thatās why they were successful in participation and Subs. 8-12 mill subs vs 3??million sub .( guilds would do older content for gear-progress i wonder how many would do this tier once tier 2 is released=none )
My friendliest from the start of current expansion from 9 people currently are 3/4 in the past weeks.
Thatās the average duration of keeping players playing with the current setup/format.
In order to get full m+ gear i need to run until the end of the season ā¦(I wonāt ) Because running for gear that can going to be replaced from World content and hc dungeon in 1st week of season 2 ā¦is meh .
And letās not talk about rng .
Previous week i made 636 ilvl legs ( Weekly vault was 2 rings (i already had 1 639) and 1 legs ā¦just picked ā¦legs ( I Had champion gear=pretty unlucky ) (1st item created was weapon ā¦ 2nd week 2 weapons 1 waist vers-mast ā¦picking the weapon ).
Basically iām 3 weeks without 1 upgrade .
We are playing a seasonal game and having 3 week of not getting any upgrade is BS.
There is no point of doing 10+ or even further since they donāt provide nothing 1 loot rng per week .
For once i know that with the release of the new classic servers iām going to stick there and play .
i only do m+ with guildies now, other then that i started doin PvP was i havent touched that ever, and im having a blast on Arenas and solo ques. goin to do some world pvp aswell. feels like a brand new game that way for me atleast
Theyād prefer you to play all different game modes, but they are content with you leaving and returning later.
They gave up the ākeep players logged in all the timeā when they decided to give up infinite grinds for power (artifact/azerite power) and just gave cosmetics. It seems their feedback/internal metrics showed that it was healthier for the game to not force players to play all the time.
The progress is the reward by itself. In the current game if you āachieveā BiS, you are kind of done with it and take a break, unless you are pushing m+/CE and gear is a secondary factor for you.
You cannot really compare game versions from different years. Back in classic/tbc/wrath, the competition was CS, Lineage 2, and dota. Now the competition is fortnight, league of legends and every other new game that released. The popularity of mmos has dropped drastically, and new players are avoiding them like the plague.
I will not go into argument if what you are saying holds true, just that it is fallacious to try to compare the game now to back then, especially since we have the same versions from back then available to play (and thus anyone that wants to play those versions can play them at any time).
Itās just crap design that the primary progression is upgrading gear with farmable but limited currencies, of items that you cannot loot directly other than from the Vault.
Just let M+ drop max-ilvl (for M+ content) gear. Basta. Let those currencies involve some cosmetic changes of such items, like the 2500 rating achievement reward, but different obviously.
Just exactly what did you progress outside of raids and dungeons in vanilla, at max level? Tediously long reputation grinds? Thereās a reason they got rid of those.
Also, stop with the sub number comparisons, the game was brand new and top of the line at the time. No game keeps that kind of player retention for 20 years.
generally we know already that pretty much all players dont engage in all contents.
we have pvpers, m+ players, raiders, open world people and collectors. many overlap in 1-3 fields but most people do not do all and certainly not to a big commitment.
technically they dont need to care about how long a player is logged in because what matters is the sub. But that changed since the token and how they sell MAU to the shareholders.
they still force people to do their new stuffā¦ you can see that the new ring will require stupid grinding to waste your time and you need it in other content to compete. if they would not add these things to force players, not all that many players would engage with their boring new things. Those content updates are rarely fun, they are rather for collectors but they want more players to rectify their dev time and want to create more MAU so they still force you to play so to speak.

There are a handful of problematic specs. But the vast majority of the 39 present ones are perfectly fine. I think that if you name Feral, Sub, Arms, and Holy Priest, you covered most of the struggling ones.
