Good or bad idea, have the ability to sell and buy characters on the AH in game.
people can create toons name them level them, and be able to sell or buy them at any level on the AH only gear that they are wearing (no bag contents, or achieves or gold) ?
Buying a char in bis max ilvl gear? Seems like a bad idea to me.
It might make sense in hardcore classic/diablo, but not on retail WoW.
This would have been a good idea if leveling was a slow slop like when we had 120 lvls, now though its so quick that does it even matter? its just gonna be alot of traffic with blizzard services
that would make p2w official so no.
Wouldn’t want to sell my character at all. I like her too much
all them whales be like “Omg please blizzard, make this happen!”
Only if i could get an estimated amount of gold i can get for said character
Without jokes:
Dont think its a great idea, would probably cause issues and people just drowning in tokens to buy the character they want but not know how to play it.
you´re too innocent
Since you can buy WoW Tokens and convert those Tokens into Gold
you my friend just asked for the BIGGEST pay to win method that already exist on ebay to be inserted into WoW.
it is a bad idea.
P.S most players thout that wow Tokens are a GREAT idea to solve a lot of problems in WoW (Well they did) but only a handfull of players realized at that time that tokens are opening pandoras box in WoW for all kinds of boosting services, Tokens already created a pay to win environment in wow… it is just behind a curtain
I love leveling, but for those player that have zero interest in leveling why force them.
Leveling a character doesnt mean you know how it works as you don’t need to useost abilities while leveling.
Pay to win is about gear and power not base toons with no gear.
Isn’t that what the character boost is for that Blizzard sells, or did they remove that?
If that is still a thing, i imagine they wouldn’t be interested in removing a revenue stream.
God no.
Jesus, terrible idea
No thank you!
If the characters have no gear, gold, items: Why not! But, what if this will lead to people just boosting characters and selling them on the AH 24/7 to make gold and make all very cheap? I hate how everything fun can just get corrupted easily. I do think levelboosting is fine, but I worry about people mass producing max level characters lol
I feel the same. I get too attached to all my characters to want to sell them.
This is exactly what will happen. The trade off though is you might see high traffic to the game, even if briefly, as players wanting to experience the game wont bother with levelling. They will just buy a token purchase a character and jump straight into end game content. Both negative and positive.
Well, I leveled recently, and I think leveling in wow is extremely bad, because of scaling, so there is nothing that a player will miss out on. Other games do a way better job with leveling. If wow didn’t have scaling and progressive zones/dungeons, I would think it’s nice, but the scaling makes it feel very boring. “Oh wow, I go back to the level 15 zone at level 50, but then all the mobs hit harder and I do less damage despite having all these talents. Ah, finally my dungeon popped into, but oh wait, the level 11 does 10 times the damae of my level 50 and bosses survive for 3 minutes in cataclysm dungeons?” No thank you. Awful experience. Noone should experience this, luckily I got the level 60 boost.
WoW has been officially p2w since they added the wow token anyways, and before that it was unofficially p2w anyways so in all honesty nothing would change.
Then again considering that one can buy tokens for gold and add blizzard balance with those to buy level boost from the cash shop then I don’t really see any point in having the ability to buy or sell player characters in the auction house anyways. Not to mention that it would create headache for Blizzard if people with hacked accounts get their characters sold off on the AH.
Tbh, I think this obsession with trying to be the best at gaming is very unhealthy for a lot of people and the games themselves even. P2W does not really matter, unless you play the game to prove something, if you think about it. One should never derive self esteem from a game like wow. P2W would also be way less of an issue with that mindset/culture, because most would then just do what they can do, and not worry too much. The whole mentality of “oh, you are hardstuck xyz rating/key, etc.” is a plague that came originally from games like league and spread unto other games, and I think it destroys the fun for a lot of people, because then they only care about becoming pro, or something, and this is what creates p2w situations, because everyone tries to rush and maximize/optimize their play time to achieve as much as possible instead just relaxing, drinking some coffee and playing cozily. The player mentality of rush rush rush, always tryhard, etc. no breaks allowed, every boss has to be “oneshot” or everyone leaves, yadayadayada is a big issue I have with wow.
I get how people feel the token changed the game to p2w as most players use this system to buy boosts.
If we know the devs the way we do, even if they considered this a good idea and implemented it, the character would be sold on the AH as naked. You would have to go to speak to an NPC then get given a full set of greens and have to start the grind anyway to gear up or buy additional tokens to be boosted through content to gear up.
Never going to get away from it. No token available then payers would use the AH to gain access to gold or 3rd party websites to buy gold and buy boosts anyway. P2W would creep into the game one way or another.
