I’ve never said anything like that, I just pointed out that a statement you made is false.
There are plenty of reasons, and blizzard agrees with me, since that is why they implemented layering to begin with.

it could happen but who knows, since you will not get any serious blue answer here and most other posts will try to dehonest / trash / troll you, i m afraid you will not get any information here but that server merge probably wont happen.

thats the problem, nowadays blue posts are so rare, they are like big foot or yetti, they probably exist but noone has seen them in a while 
and i think they dont know the answer too
edit : i remember that there is some kind of QaA for current expansion, maybe you could try it there. I have not seen it in a while, maybe they run one podcast for classic too

Characters with the same name, having more characters on two servers that are merging than the cap (10), server community being completely killed off with a bunch of new people being placed on a server together, is also very likely to create an “us vs them” scenario and a lot of hostility between rankers with a new pool of players, and some people also just prefer being on a smaller server.
That’s off the top of my head, I’m sure there’s plenty more.

you cant kill anything that does not exist ( some servers )
some players were complaining about honor mafia, so its on spot w/ o server merges
thats absolutely true, i would be fed up to end on a server like gehanas etc.
there are pros, they are cons, it should be more discus among community
imo, it will just not happen, like you said, dead server will perish and rest will grow strong with new players incoming / transfering.
