Server population and feeling let down

My server is dead, I know this post has been made a thousand times but I’m fed up, to transfer my main it would cost me £19, I’m not spending that much, especially since I have 5 alts on this server and I transfer just my main that means, if I want alts i’d have to level new ones. There is an incredible amount of ‘Low’ population servers, no mention of merging them or if there will ever be a transfer bundle announced or just generally anything to make the experience, for players stuck on low pop realms, any better.

I’m extremely frustrated, and I feel let down as a long time player. I don’t understand why it costs so much, I want to continue playing WoW but due to my server having no atmosphere, no high end guilds or any chance of something social I am resigned to letting my subscription expire.

Can you, Blizzard/Warcraft team, please help your players who want to love WoW? Do you have the capability to merge lots of the low pop servers? Just anything, please?

My server is dead, I play WoW for the MMO, not just the RPG.

Many of us feel the same way and many of us can not afford to move all of our chars .
There is an ongoing thread here in the same vain

The fact that thread doesn’t have a blue response, and it has been up since May is very very telling

I’ve been playing Eve while on a break from WoW and that’s just one server for everyone, coming back here to a region locked game segregated by servers is the worst part of WoW by far. I work nights so i tend to play in USTZ at the moment which sucks for the region lock, I’ve just transferred my main from Terenas to Silvermoon, i want to move my alts too but I’m gonna have to be selective as it’s too expensive to do all of them.

Do we really need all of these individual servers now? All the low and medium ones should just get merged to make everything high population or something.

No we don’t, there are way to many servers currently out in the EU like this game is not as old as it is and like its still at its peak days like back in the Wotlk when it had 10-12 millions of players worldwide. I feel like those days are gone and will not be coming back, and the number of the servers is currently to big for the amount of the people playing the game. Even the medium servers started to die out, and the alliance side with that has been especially hit, so I think how the game would be more enjoyable if Blizzard would just shut down a good number of those small pop servers and merge the rest into the bigger ones or connect together so that the remaining players would have an easier time to find the people to play with and maybe even for the server communities to start growing again like they did in the past.

Why even roll on a low pop server to begin with? I looked up which server had the highest alliance population before creating my character and just chose that one. And if you can’t afford paying for the transfer, then you’ll either have to live with it or wait months / years hoping that Blizzard will do something about it. I’d start saving up the money if i were you.

Because when they started and I know for a fact that server was named as high just like mine was so please think before you type .

because low pop servers is where servers start? like literally all servers :joy:

People rolled on those servers before they did become low, and a lot of the new players were mislead to roll on a new servers because they were labeled as a good ones for the new players by Blizzard.

Auchindoun when i joined it was a high pop realm with a nearly perfect 50/50 ratio. Its downfall began with the leave of Envy and notable players like mionelol during the end of MoP. When i took my leave for ravencrest the only remaining propper raiding guilds were two. Namely Whatever and Goodlookin and some casual progress guilds not worth mentioning.

Right now from what i see there are 3 Guilds raiding with progress of at least 4M. Another 2 with 3 and one with 1 (aka pug fodder). The realm was more alive during Legion lifetime. Right now it is dead and one unlucky player couldnt have prevented yet alone forseen it considering how big the realm once was.

From that realm i have only transfered two of my characters. My Rogue for obvious reasons and my Paladin because he was my first char ever created. The rest while i like them i wouldnt pay the money required for the transfer. Not even my gold is worth it.

Also dead realms have been an huge issue in the past. The reason why realms were merged to begin with. Auchindoun for example was merged with a sort of dead Horde realm (i remember in particular because the players of jaedenar cried like madness when they had to encounter alliance for the first time that actually fought back during SoO. Auchindoun players welcomed the Hordes with open arms as many hordes had left the realm as stated above with Envy and co)

Also the general decline of the games playerbase is something one also needs to consider regarding realm merges/transfers. They should merge another bunch of realms. They easily have the capacities for it on retail

Blizzard simply wont do something because of cross realm. Frankly i couldnt care less about cross realm if i were to play on an low pop realm because it simply isnt the same without a thriving active guild that does the content i want to do. A reason why i left Auchindoun. The level of Raiding i wanted to do was no longer available with Goodlookin disbanding. Whatever raided too high and the rest were too low. So i joined a friends guild on Ravencrest until i decided to move on again.

For me I did it to play with a RL friend who long since quit. Back before CRZ and phasing it was also often better being only a med pop as highs would be a nightmare trying to do any new content.

Times have changed, lowpop servers no longer serve much purpose and only punish people.

literally my story currently, my main is on Auchindoun along with 5 alts, I transferred from Shattered Halls in WOTLK, it was a booming server but then Envy left and it essentially killed it

Hell, even medium servers struggle. It’s high time they did something about it.
But they seem too busy responding to nonsense threads and keeping silent about that awesome new server connection system they had as good as ready two years ago.

To be honest, while I do agree that choosing a server comes as one of those “hard choices” that MMOs and other games desperately need nowadays instead of giving everyone everything without consequences, I also think the current servers are absolute crap!

Servers are created to accomodate population - that is it. What is the point of a server if no one plays on it? Some space on a server is fair enough but what is the point of massive emptiness on a server?

There should be just enough servers to hold the current game population. Servers should only be created when there is a demand for them. Until then, servers (and shards, to be fair) should be continuously merged so that players are not spread so thinly that even light finds it impossible to travel between them!

A server should provide everything a player needs. Community, AH activity, Group activity, etc. A paid transfer should only be there for when players want to go out of the ordinary - when they want to transfer rather than need to transfer.

They should probably start thinking about merging servers so communities can be born again. Now more than ever.

Hopefully they will have something to say about his at Blizzcon and hopefully phasing or whatever won’t be the answer.

War Mode will have to go before communities can rise fully. The mode wasn’t what Blizzard thought it would be, clearly, and you cant really see “community” in WPvP now since you’ll never really see the same people twice

The question is why don’t they add low populated realms to the other battle-groups , it doesn’t cost them 1 cent / resources or anything ?!

If they mention anything whatsoever about free transfers or anything of the like, then the transfers themselves will drop off dramatically in prep for the free ones. As shady as it is, leaving us hanging for an indefinite period makes perfect business sense. :unamused:

Okay? So what? My point still stands, either pay for the transfer, or lobby for a change on the forums and hope that Blizzard does something about it, or quit the game. There aren’t really many other options available.
