Hey. What are your opinions on High vs Med pop servers for starting fresh?
I wanted to give it a go for casual classic leveling but stuck on server choice at the moment. Scared of farming spots to be packed full on high pop servers like Shaz. Would it be a good idea to go for a med pop server if I don’t plan to go too hardcore in classic? Heard people are nicer on smaller servers also generally.
Then again med pop servers perhaps struggle with forming groups or is that just a misconception?
I’m playing on a medium realm (Skullflame) and regarding leveling a fresh alt, it probably will be tough there to find groups for low level dungeons. It is not impossible, but your best shot is in the evening without a garantuee to fill it up. But it also depends on your class, if you play a tank or hybrid class, who can either tank or heal, it usually will be easier.
But it seems that even on the high pop realms it’s mostly about boosts nowadays, so a PvE realm might give you a better leveling experience with more low level players looking for dungeon or elite groups.
On medium servers the community is a bit tighter and helpfull though, if you are joining a guild early on, you usually find a lot of help there, either getting a boost through a dungeon for the quests if you can’t get a group at all or they fill up with their alts if needed.
And a medium realm doesn’t mean that you can’t play hardcore, I think there are guilds with different aproaches on every medium realm, from hardcore to casual. It’s not like we only have 2 or 3 guilds :).
Medium is good if you want to be left alone. No groups for dungeons, no groups for elite quest, no cooperation, no nothing, just you and the open world and questing.
And secondly no, Pve servers are borring, so go Pvp server, its way more interesting and dynamic.
So Pvp for sure and you chose medium or high. High you gona fight, medium is chill and you will not be able to do a single dungeon.
I wish you good luck to find low level dungeon groups on the biggest realms as well, gonna be really hard to find regular groups in the endless stream of WTS boost spam.
Most people are done leveling, if they level another alt, they want to do it as fast as possible, so they want boosts. If you want to level the old fashioned way, try to get into a leveling guild, no matter of the server size. There are even huge difference between the medium size realms.
Yes I understand what you are saying, I just dont get one thing, is it posible noone like old school leveling, to me thats really strange, not to want to do for example Sunken temple, or whatever else, just like a regular group.
I’m on Bloodfang PvP, it’s listed as medium, but I think it’s medium-high. Leveling is quiet, but you do meet people, and it is possible to find a normal group for Deadmines or Loch Modan ogres reasonably quick. Feels like the majority gets boosted though, or at least definitely a sizeable amount of players.
Overall my experience there is positive. However, I can believe those saying that big PvE servers are a better choice at this point (I didn’t try myself).
I am levelling my 5th character on Earthshaker and I can say that there are a lot people levelling, questing, doing dungeons and PvP. If you want to go Alliance come here.
