Server Populations

I don’t know where to look and don’t trust the ingame server browser.

Can people tell me about the different servers?

I’m on Hydraxian Waterlords on an ally lock but Stormwind looks very empty.
Is Roleplay on Classic dead? Should I go on a big PvP or PvE server?

Tell me your experiences with the different servers, their quirks, their common population.
I prefer lots of english speaking people and dislike cliques. I enjoy a roleplay aspect.

Truth is the game is dead

Not true at all. Perhaps you’ve mistaken Classic with Retail?

No idea, retail seems fine to me.

So I play on Mirage Raceways and I can tell you for a fact that IF is busy and so is SW and our server do organized buff times so 18:45-19:45 SW is insanely busy to the point that you lag very very hard just due to the amount of players who want Ony/Nef buffs.

There isn’t any real concrete way of getting population numbers the only thing you can do personally is hit up SW/IF Org/TB at peak hours and see how busy those locations are and give you a rough idea how busy that server is.

You can check the server populations on ironforge. pro and wowclassicpopulation. com (remove the spaces). The numbers aren’t perfectly accurate but they are giving the best overview you can get. In Vanilla the cap was 3k concurrent players, in Classic it has been increased to around 6-9k concurrent players without layers.

Hydraxian Waterlords is heavily Alliance dominated and with a peak between 1200-1400 players on the higher end of medium. Because of the very low Horde population the servers overall population is on the lower end of medium. If you feel thats not enough players for you, you kinda have to move to a high/full pop realm.

I’m playing on a medium realm and I’m pretty happy there. I wouldn’t mind a few more players but the world was actually built for around 3k players and I love that I’m able to farm my own stuff in the off hours in the open world without beeing forced to farm in instances.

RP always was kinda dead, join firemaww alliance and see SW more full the i ever saw since tbc, wisper me to get inv to a good lvling guild

@Adalaea: The relative values are ok, the main problem with the ingame listing is that it is an overall representation and lacks faction specific information. On the retail side Silvermoon and Draenor are prime examples of this.

I play alliance on HW among numerous other realms and at least yesterday during my time on HW there were plenty of people is SW. I did not make an exact count, but I would say well in excess of 100 near the bank and AH alone with plenty of people coming and going.

Also, on a general level I agree with Nunu’s and Harmoon’s notes above.

did you try ironforge where everyone has their hs? also when head is about to drop u will see stormwind full to the brim

for rp idk cus i dont seek it out. but community on hw is better than zt at least. less angsty people. less pvp = less frustration in community. rp = more socially inclined (due to lack of options a lot of non-rp folk rolled on zt)
