Set Items (Bad Luck Protection)

I am really wondering what Blizzard’s so-called bad luck protection is for. I killed the bosses that dropped the set item 25 times in total and I only was able to get 1 piece in return. One came from the weekly box. You can’t enter dungeons because you don’t have 4 sets. You can’t enter raids
because you don’t have 4 sets. You are not taken to guild progress, because in an environment where 4 sets make such a difference in dps, there is no place for you with 2 sets.
And for more this must be a joke but no it isn’t, They decided to shared the set tokens among certain classes so that other players cannot give them. Now I’m asking if we are in this situation while there is bad luck protection.
What would happen if it didn’t? I hope whoever thought of this ridiculous system of luck, Microsoft will take care of him/her!

Play BM, then it don’t matter if you have set or not.
( Tho playing BM won’t get you into any groups anyways ;p )

this is exackly why they removed sets in first place

but players knew better

so after 4 years of whining they put sets back in

and it feels horrible playing ithout 4 set becaue everything dungeons/raids/your class and spec in 9.2 is tuend around you having 4 set and 2 legendaries

Not saying you are wrong but Blizzard’s own ideas suck even more. Just look at the Domination sockets crap…

Nothing wrong with tier sets as a concept. What’s wrong is the timegating and RNG of it, it needs to be possible to get it in a deterministic manner from the start, not months after the patch is out.
PvP also needs its own tier sets, separated from PvE tier sets.

Sadly the bad luck protection is the Creation Catalyst which they aren’t unlocking yet. Many are hoping that we will see them unlock it early now that the RWF is over and there is no reason to hold it back.

I haven’t even got two set yet and I totally understand how unfun it is when you are being held back by RNG. The biggest impact I got was the two legendaries. Yet my guildies mostly have two set and a couple have four set.

I had to PuG my KSM this season and I basically rode my friend’s coat-tails. I’m not really a desirable class for M+ and I don’t blame people wanting to take classes that can do far more dps.

It’s not all smooth sailing even with some set, yesterday he was removed from a PuG because five other DHs signed up and one had a higher ilvl. PuGing can be a cut throat business

I haven’t seen a single tier piece yet. As a healer in PvP. It’s really not fun, when the occasional 2-set DPS appears on the other team and I’m running oom trying to keep up with that damage, while the other healer is sitting comfortable at 50% mana by the time I’m oom.

And I’m already playing with a dps that got 2-set of his own. It’s insane. (I’m typically 10+ ilvls behind the opposing healer, still in the middle of catching up with ilvls.)

There’s really no point behind making it RNG, it needs to be a deterministic grind from the start. And not timegated like crazy.

And the question is why is it tuned against it. Tier should make you feel powerful and strong.

Yet it’s a requirement to even compete in any content.

Community asked for how it was back in wotlk same as with valor.

It’s not the players fault that the devs can’t read.

They also change thing over expansions.

By far the most superior tier system is when you get a token that you can exchange with the vendor for the slot you wish to put it in. They changed it so it’s a tier token for a specific slot.

This time round they’ve also shrunk the token groups. Taking my class for example, we used to be Paladin, Priest, Warlock and Demon Hunter. They’ve now reduced the groups to just three classes. In my case it’s now Paladin, Priest, Shaman. This has had a big impact on how many people can reroll unwanted gear. It’s noticeable in our raids that RNG has not been kind to my token group and other groups have rerolled several tokens already.

Ofc they’ve also made other changes, like we can get tier from the vault including from non raid activities, we’ll be getting the creation catalyst, but it’s coming very late.

Yes, they did (because set boni are fun!) BUT - there needs to be a token / set-piece vendor for currency, who sells AT LEAST the two set bonus, or said two set bonus needs to drop from World Bosses: because that’s how it originally was, even the most casual guy could go kill Archavon / Tol Barad “World Bossses” (they were just instanced, but similarly easy to kill) and get at least the two set bonus.

Once again the devs did something the community asked for wrongly, just to turn it into a “you thought you did, but you didn’t” moment.

Which is a huge problem for PvPers. Gear is doing some massive carrying right now, especially for those with tier sets. Their dps is off the charts compared to those without, even when playing same classes and specs.

M+ players are also frustrated, the vault is their only source.

In my M+ group we have 1 tier item in total. It is pretty crap low chance to get them. It is just waiting for the timegate to end. 3 more resets till we can start making 1 per week?

having no trouble at all coming into keys with only 1 set item.

It speeds up, eventually you’ll be able to use every other day.

Eventually is when?

No idea when it reaches that point specifically but it will be usable more often as time passes.

“Eventually” looks irrelevant for characters we are currently playing :frowning:

there really is no point in one more timegating after creation catalyst is already timegated. why, just why. it makes 0 sense.

creation catalyst is already late enough for those unfortunate souls (me included) who haven’t seen a single tier piece yet. they are far too impactful for being this timegated for the non RNG gods

this is the way tier has always worked. You either get it early or later but nothing has changed since the original version of tier drops other then personal loot only vs master loot
