I give up. Trying to dps as shadow after the rework is the worst experience I’ve ever had in the game. I refuse to play with Searing Nightmare because of how clunky it feels so I guess Blizzard thinks I should be severely punished for that. 4.4k dps with 230 ilevel. Meanwhile a warrior with the same ilevel did over 8k dps. I’m just going to play another class where I press one button for massive AOE instead of a convoluted 20 button rotation for sub-par results and dots that do no damage.
All you can do is DoT them but at the rates they die it’s not very good.

…i mean, yeah…shadow supposedly excels at single target and priority damage but in return isnt great at aoe…not really sure what you expected tbh.
I expected to be good at everything.
Called balance, duuh.
Same tbh, why can’t I heal and have consistent 10k+ single target dps and also tank all the mobs while I’m at it?
why play warlock, priest, when can play mage or druid or rogue/monk or war or hunter xD
If you can’t see the problem with a class having no BASELINE AOE ability then there is no point engaging with you. It’s apparent that Blizzard hates shadow priests, only mages are allowed to be good at everything all the time.
This is where you fall flat and just sound really sad.
They don’t have Shadow Priests.
I do think everyone should have an AoE.
Dont you have Mind Sear?
It is admittedly a bit tiresome how the biggest threat a Shadow Priest can face is a handful rats at the same time.
With each rat taking like 5 seconds to kill because of lackluster AoE and “ramp up” you’re always faced with the same question:
Should you just run?
RUN AWAY LITTLE GIRL, RUN AWAY!
If you think the few hundred dps from Mind Sear is comparable to the I-win AOE buttons other classes get like Bladestorm then it’s obvious your obtuseness knows no bounds. I would urge you to educate yourself before trying to make a point.
It was a legitimate question.
I haven’t played Shadow Priest in a while, and didnt know if it was removed or not.
And Bladestorm is a talent.
In The Maw there are those patrolling packs of small tentacle beast thingies in the soul river area.
They are the worst.
There’s like 5-6 of them in each pack, and you’ll always aggro one pack after another.
And it’s complete trench warfare. You’re sitting duck as you’re deperately trying to DoT each of those pests up and Searing and Blasting and what not.
…And then your eye spots some Warrior or Demon Hunter in the distance who are just BAM!-BOOM-ZING! killing entire packs in the blink of an eye.
…All the whilst you’ve had to resort to using Shadow Mend because you’re being subjected to death by a thousand cuts.
It’s so bad.
But it’s always been this way playing a Shadow Priest.
Insane ramp up.
Lackluster AoE.
A ton of abilities needed to do simple tasks.
Supposedly the upside is that you’re good at multi-dotting…when Blizzard allows it.
I refuse to use shadows go to AOE talent and claim it has no aoe capability.
You do you Vinorza.
Hello.
I play only as healer with priest in groups but i have tried to dps.(with no shadow legendary) and it did not go well.
Although i have grouped with shadow priest and he was doing fine.
So maybe a different legendary and some more balanced stats would help you with that.
This man asks all the right questions.
#showtooltip
/targetenemy [noexists][dead][help][noharm]
/castsequence reset=1,5 Mind Sear, Searing Nightmare
/startattack
/petattack
There you go, easy as pie.
The only real issue I see with shadow priest AOE is that [Psychic Link] triggers on Vampiric Touch and not Shadow Word: Pain.
warlocks and priests suffer a lot from the same reason as many other specs. they covenant abilities are horribly weak and bad.
its blizzard fault - imagine if all specs would get fun big … dps cds like wild spirits or convoke / wild hunt. but no some were not so lucky so they suffer .
Ah so all us are wrong and shadow priests are actually fine according to you. I assume you invite all the shadow priests to your groups, and would definitely take a shadow priest over a mage/boomie/rogue/warrior/DH? You must get excited when you see a shadow priest sign up knowing how fine they are.
