Shadowform is overloaded

Too much of Shadowpriests power is concentrated into Shadowform itself. This makes it necessary to underpower shadow spells baseline and is going to either make leveling 1-39 awful or 40-60 totally overpowered.

Vanilla shadowform is already very powerful.

100% crit damage component needs to be a seperate 3 point talent similar to other classes, 50% mana cost reduction is bad design in itself. Either reduce the mana cost baseline if its too high, or give us reliable ways to recover some of that mana during longer fights.

Best solution for the mana problem would be an improved spirit tap talent that triggers spirit tap from critting with shadow spells. Would need to either be located deeper in the tree, or with the added effect of not allowing healing while spirit tap is active, as it would probably be broken on endgame healers otherwise.

bro what you are wanding to 60

Feel the same, baseline spells are terrible, they rely way too much on shadowform and equipment. Overall they should unnerf the base values of spells to lower the gear dependency and shift power from shadowform to the baseline spells. The game was supposed to have less vertical and more horizontal progression. But I feel like it will be the typical Blizzard powercreeping.

Entire Priest Beta experience is Shadow Word: Pain, Wand, Wand, Wand…

All other spells cost more mana than they deal damage. My current concern is, that the only viable builds will be, Heal Bot Priest with full healing gear, or Shadow Priest with full damage gear, and nothing in between. With how it’s currently designed I fear there won’t be room for creativity, because most abilities rely too much on specialised gear to be viable.

Probably they will read this and nerf Shadow Word: Pain too, or Wand even further, no fun allowed.

Sounds familiar acually…

yea.. and we would like to change it. At least for shadow priest.

Disagree. The mana cost reduction, crit, and spell scaling baked into SF prevent disc from being even more overpowered than it is already.

It also prevents Shadow Form from just being a little buff you put on yourself. You should commit to do damage, at the cost of healing. Nerfing Shadow Form fundamentally ruins this and turns the spec into disc-lite.

Hitting 40 on a shadow priest is meant to be a big, memorable, and defining moment. Why change that?

I don’t mean this to be inflammatory, but it really sounds like you’re looking for disc priest, not shadow.

We don’t even know that yet, but what we see is the leveling experience is extremely shallow.

I have mostly blue gear with spell damage from RFC and a green lvl 13 Wand.

Smite deals only slightly more DPS that the Wand, roughly 10-15% with all the drawbacks of casting. And I can only cast 17 Smites before going oom.

It was just a huge mistake to nerf all spells by 30%, for some classes even by 50% and making it more reliant on gear.

They should make the gear progression much flatter, so the classes rely more on how you play them and not on what gear you are wearing.

The Forever Shadow Form is 1 to 1 the shadowform we had in SoD + an additional SoD Rune baked into one. SoD - where everything was over the top OP. Its just too much, power gain in the talent tree should be much more linear, not “half your total power comes at lvl 40”. As mentioned in my original post that design leads to either horrid, boring wand leveling 1-39 - or being beyond imbalanced at 40+, neither should be the goal here.

I think you’re both living in PvE land. We know Disc is overpowered for PvP. It’s not just about number output.

that design leads to either horrid, boring wand leveling 1-39

I’m fine with Shadow Priest being weak until 40 for the reasons I’ve already stated. The progression to Shadow Form should not be linear - Shadow Form is the identity of the spec. It is the defining moment for the leveling journey.

Your suggestions would leave Shadow Form in the absolute STATE Moonkin Form is currently in. Why would I even put a point in it - skipping penance - if all the power was elsewhere in the tree?

It’s an L take, even for PvE - and for PvP, what you are suggesting is terrible.
