Shadowlands Discussion (SPOILERS)

Remember to opt in for Shadowlands beta fellas

It was a joke. I’m aware we have multiple flavours of human and elves.

Done. Sadly the only beta I got picked for was Wrath and as a wee lad at the time I didn’t have sub nor could I afford it.

I liked the idea of Eredar joining the Alliance basically to cover their own behinds after the Legion fell apart. After all, if the Draenei could beat the Legion, that means the Draenei were the strongest all along.

It’s also another case of “Here’s something that could actually be an evil race in the Alliance” which I’m always in favour of. On the flipside, adding them to Horde makes it kinda hard not to see as the Horde just getting “evil versions” of Draenei.

How, what, where!?

There’s one thing that bothers me.

Why does the globe’s border in the Shadowlands logo look like a Stargate?

Considering they’ve even used the tune (I admit it was great hearing it) from the Stargate movie/series at the conclusion of the Shadowlands trailer I assume that it was definitely a deliberate choice.

Doesn’t sound remotely alike to me.

On an unrelated note, I’m peeved that Revendreth is basically a rip-off of D&D’s Ravenloft and they’re not even hiding it.

I’m sorry, I explained that wrongly. I should have said ‘a tune’ instead of ‘the tune’.

It’s an accelerated (1.5 to 1.75) times version of the Execution (mainly, but also others) theme in the OST for that movie. In the Shadowlands trailer it can be heard from 5:11 to 5:16, before concluding on different notes, while in the Execution theme it can be heard from 0:43 on more or less.

Naturally, the tone is different, and some instruments are too, but I think that they have been inspired from that theme, and that connects well with the ‘stargate’ resemblance in the expansion logo.

Mankrik’s wife confirmed for Shadowlands.

One of the themes while developing Shadowlands is to make the story more than just a collection of random stories. Many important characters have fallen throughout the history of Warcraft, but they’re trying to focus on major storylines which are still relevant today (e.g. Uther, Draka), while also peppering in some lesser characters tragedy and interaction. For example, a certain Classic WoW character’s wife which has become something of a cult classic might be one of those minor, easter egg-like things they might pursue. Not spoiling any of the big stuff though!

Gotta get people hyped for Classic, so it can pay for retail

The heck happened to you Moody?

Who took you down to force you to use an alt account?

Moody killed himself in prison

Also can you guys report my name please. I thought it was a funny meme, but then I realized the guy was an actual creep [bad word censored] and now I don’t think it’s funny anymore

Most of those are plausible, however in the case of Arthas they clearly want to keep it a surprise, especially when they kept joking with “no, he’s not Arthas. Arthas is dead.”

There seems to be an (inverse) correlation between people liking Anduin/Garrosh/Sylvanas and what faction they play.

Well okay, maybe not Sylvanas. Unless you’re Forsaken.

Yeah, yeah I member! :purple_heart:

Still funny lmaoo

Some goodies from the BlizzCon interviews.

As of right now, Allied Races will not be receiving more customization options with the original races.

The storyline of Odyn giving his eye to an entity will be developed in Shadowlands.

Through adventuring in the Shadowlands we will find out what the deal Sylvanas made with Helya was and the purpose of the lantern, which might not be what people expect.

Some Loa that we have lost will see a return in the Shadowlands, and there are some really cool hooks there. We may find out in particular a specific character that is tied to the Loa and trolls and what his role in the Shadowlands is.

Shadowlands is not the right time for player housing. It’s something they continually discuss and may revisit in the future when it makes sense for the expansion.

So we’ll see Vol’jin? Or perhaps even Zul’jin? Sen’jin? Rezan! He’s recurperating in the Shadowlands now to, rite?
