Shady massive gold boosting operations and their impact

And that happens in real life as well? A rich daddy’s girl getting into all other places cause daddy is rich and powerful?

Should I have given up back at school and not bothered to fight my way into competitive uni simply cause some rich boys can also get in? Should I have settled for a janitor’s job cause why bother aiming for the top if a rich guy/girl can get there by “knowing the right people”?

I know what I accomplished and I always celebrate it with my closest. And I don’t give a rat’s *** if somebody did it the easy way…

And now you know what is the first step that the majority of the playerbase should take.

Woah, hold your horses… for the record, i am bad, and on top of it i am one of the few ones who actually knows that they are bad. How do i know this? I see myself play… i make mistakes, i learn slow… so no god at all.

And getting curve in a guild or pug or however… its not that hard… at all. Heroic is ment to be bruteforced at some point.

It’s not easy finding a good guild. Then there is dedicated playtime hours required, trial runs, weekly raid hours, etc.

Not everyone has the time or the patience to go through the bureaucracy that is guild life of wow. It’s like a job interview basically. You send resume to people, and then they take you for apprenticeship and eventually hire you into their guilds.

Yea. If you find a guild and befriend them, then great. But normally, for a casual player, that’s not doable.

honestly, at this point, i’m too tired to argue. If you can’t see what’s wrong with selling gear, raid progression, pvp, mounts and basically every single end game content we got for real money in this game, then i can’t explain it to you.

have a nice night or day.

It literally took me 2 days to join a guild and get a curve.

I joined their social run with 30 people, killed 9 bosses out of 12 the first day. Then on the second day they told half of the raid that their performance was not enough for N’zoth and we killed him with 14 people including me, cos I knew my job.

Literally 2 days. No hassle or anything. You know your stuff you get a curve. And there are literally dozens of these guilds on my server. And it has less people than Kazzak.

Unless you appling to some world top 100 guild noone cares… and we are talking getting into a HEROIC guild here… cmon… there is no requirements, and if there are, just pass and find the next one.

And for heroic you can always skip a raid night, is flex… 10-30 players… you wont let down anyone.

This. N’yalotha has been out for like 5 months, most guilds only do heroic to get their social members a bit of action.

The only issue I see here. Is that you play the game as you want(which is of course your every right) but the moment somebody plays differently…then he is bad, should be banned, not healthy for the game and so forth?

Lets say. That we both started from square 1. You leveled up, geared up on your own.
Meanwhile, I had friends who genuinely wanted to help(NOT a boost) so they helped me in leveling, and funneled gear to me?

So…would you have me banned then? Cause if I didn’t do it exactly like you, then you are not feeling “special” anymore?

your friends are HELPING YOU.

you don’t PAY THEM.

one promotes social interaction.

The other disrupts the economy and creates the mess we have right now in BFA, with trade chat being full of selling this and that, and google searching wow resulting in the same thing.

like i said. If you can’t see what’s wrong with this, i can’t help you.

Maybe i’ll give it a go in shadowlands. at this point in BFA, even if someone told me to come and i’ll hand you the curve for free, I still would barely have enough interest to do it. let alone going and finding guilds.

And yet, I cant see how does this affect YOU.

If I want to do an m+. I open the lfg tool -> create a group. Do the dungeon. NO GOLD needed here.
I want to raid? Again…the same OR wait for guild’s HC clear. Again…no gold needed here?

HOW exactly is this affect you?
I don’t play PvP…so are people asking for 1 wow token entry fee to do BGs or something?

The only way how the boosting scene has affected me was with the /2 chat spam. Which I just left the chat channel and does not bother me any longer?

Nobody really cares, blizzard dont care as long as the sub continues.

Boosting community and boe corruption increases the purchases of wow token which is good move on behalf of blizzard.

Blizzard so NOT sell gold.

What they do is have a system whereby existing gold can be transferred between players.

The entity selling the gold is another player.

Bots are grinding for raw gold.
multiboxers are farming zin’anthid en masse
these guys then earn enough to buy a boost
boosters get all of the gold
boosters then control all the expensive items on the AH - mounts/transmogs/black market AH/ BOE Raid Loot/ BOE Corruption Loot and inflate the price further making it difficult for the casual/solo player to compete

Are they alwyas 110?.. I wonder if they are able to use trials for it.

No, you’re locked for the first 24-48 from entering high level dungeons/raids.
Same goes for boosted characters with the service.

That’s  tldr
And you still haven’t made the argument as to why it is somehow wrong.

The irony :man_facepalming:

Boosting has gotten completely out of control now. It wasn’t too much of an issue before but it’s just rife in the game right now.

Boosters should be banned. End of.

Apart from the rage-inducing ENDLESS walls of text spamming of trade channels, we literally have no idea what is happening with all that gold generated through these activities. It has been proven in the past that some outfits providing these services in MMO’s have links with criminal/terrorist organisations and that money made from the latter funds their activities.

I find it extremely hard to believe that the vast majority of those engaging in organising boosts and actual boosting itself are not pocketing rl cash for their work. These groups are usually far too sophisticated and well set up for it to be just a bunch of overgeared guildies doing it to pay their subs through tokens.

There is also the additional slippery slope of those that fall prey to the advertising of easy gear and titles etc getting suckered into whipping out credit cards and Paypal and getting the, “Super Turbo Ninja Platinum Level VIP” associated services.

Additionally, there is also the issue of gambling. Yes, you heard me - gambling. Not many people can afford these boost services through in-game activity, so they buy tokens for real money and sell them on the AH to get the gold needed. Loot is not guaranteed on boost runs, stuff sometimes just does not drop. It’s not a 100% sure thing. Therefore, folks are trading rl money for virtual currency to GAMBLE on getting virtual items. This is illegal in most countries WoW is played in. Some more than others.

If Ebaying your account is against the TOS and selling in-game items and services for rl cash is also against the TOS, if you are making $$$ from in-game WoW services you should be banned, your credentials blacklisted by Blizzard to prevent new accounts being opened and be made to get a real job
