I’m new to vanilla and much more so with the shaman class.
I was wondering if anyone could lead me to the right path in terms of the spec i should pick while leveling, professions etc.
I have read some post where people mentioned that one should go enhancement until level 40 and then switch to elemental. Is this true?
Thing with shaman is that… your spec doesn’t really matter that much early on. The first enh talents that change much in regards to leveling start at 26 with flurry. The crit talent is nice yes but can easily be offset with the right gear if you were leveling as ele.
However ele does really come online at 40 because you get EM which is pretty good for soloing elites and you can 1shot people in pvp. Ele is actually pretty good at 30 people only suggest it at 40 because enh gets windfury 10 levels earlier than EM. Auto attack damage really starts to fall off at 40 that’s the main reason people recommend the switch from weapons to magic.
With that being said ele still levels primarily using auto attacks even from 40-60 because of mana conservation but you throw shocks in between whose crits do 50% more damage once you pick up the ele talent. May sound boring but ele is actually a lot of fun to level as.
Thank you for the feedback, I’m really just learning the ropes but i think that shaman seems to be a very interesting class.
Maybe you can also help me with this, I don’t know if you play on the Firemaw server but i wonder how it has been in terms of population on both sides, is it active enough?
population is as balanced as one could expect it to be 50/50 or 40/60 either way. i have my own irks with the pvp scene but you can absolutely find pvp at 60 if you look hard enough.
you’ll have no problems raiding with pugs / guilds they’re very active but bear in mind that shamans are expected to heal in raids. this is fine though because resto shamans are always high in demand. you can also heal in raids specced as ele but you wont ofc be doing damage.
google classic wow talent calculator and you can plan/theorycraft its pretty fun.
Hello @Pacalis I only asked that because, and I think it’s unfortunate, in many online games and mostly MMORPG’s there’s always metas to be followed and unless you follow you will be seen as an outcast that nobody wants or needs for dungeon or raid groups.
Now this might not be true in vanilla WoW, again i didn’t play it back in the day, i wanted to play classic TBC and Wrath but work and family obligations kept me away from gaming in general, maybe one day they will provide servers for those expansions again.
I also wanted to ask, I notice that in Vanilla there is this strong faction identity, for example alliance has paladins and horde has shamans and possibly other differences as well. Is there any advantage in playing Alliance or Horde?
nono you will be fine while leveling/dungeoning regardless of spec. very few actually care about the meta (though u may come across the odd person here or there…) the meta only really comes into play when you’re competing against others in exclusive content i.e later raid tiers/pugs. right now im playing somewhat of a meme spec with conflag/master summoner. a pvp spec with high damage and favours high shields & on demand mid-combat pet swap as opposed to full glass cannon… im really tanky in combination with my zandalar hero badge which gives me 2k armor and double freezing band. its good for trolling rogues and warrs (hence the name) even tho its better in theory to just have succubus 24/7. thats boring to me tho and the spec definitely shines when it comes to combatting melees.
I know but I’ve never played with such people, they too much dependent of things that can change anytime.
They put hype and meta over people and I will never support this in any game.
I have played both sides for many years, my personal experience with Horde players is much more positive.
The only reason for me to play alliance, is a Paladin.
