I am currently at 75 rank at tailoring. I plan to go 80, in order to make 8 slot bags, then drop it and take herbalism to combine with the skinning i have already.
I am planning to sell all the materials on AH. The prices are crazy on my server ( mograine ), even at undercut is 5x higher than vendoring price. This is crazy!
I will have an alt on AH to send him the materials fast. Worth it or should i keep upgrading tailoring? What do you think?
Depends. Are you going to make more cash in the long term farming or crafting. Personally I prefer to make my own kit, so I’d say keep tailoring but each to their own.
Sometimes its a risk and also maybe you need some time on AH and some luck. For example at the afternoon i sold 20x light leather for 12 silver (that was the undercut), but now the undercut is 5silver only! So i guess many people are thinking like me and drop the prices!
The max moneymaking combo is mining+herbalism. Arcane crystals, black lotuses, plagueblooms, silversages and thorium bars gonna take you to epic mount with a light speed.
Depends what items are those and if they sell at all. If people mostly left given level bracket of zones materials from those zones will dry out from AH and prices may rise or be very speculative like the leather example but that doesn’t mean there will be good (steady) demand for it.
Do note that sending also costs money so cheap stuff may not be worth it on the early levels. And yes, using a bank alt to sell stuff is a common practice.
There is Robe of the Archmage - https://classicdb.ch/?item=14152 which only a tailor can craft for himself. If you want this you need 300 tailoring, recipe drop from LBRS and some elemental farming. Or AQ20/ZG catchup stuff or 40-man raid gear with will take much longer to get (many mages and casters to compete). If not you can get slightly less powerful robe from Scholo or Robe of the Wither Night from AH/other tailor. Aside of that you don’t really need tailoring if you aren’t planning any mass farming into disenchanting etc.
I got my epic mount gold mostly from doing leftover quests at level 60 + some instances. As for those professions, yest that would be absurdly lucrative if used efficient (where, when and what to farm). Just note that you can’t track herbs and nodes at the same time. Level 35 alt with maxed out alchemy can also be handy. (or alchemy/herbalism on main).
I started with mining and skinning on my mage. Stashed multiple stacks of rugged leather, killed lots of devilsaurs, even got Pristine Hide of the Beast and I dropped skinning to make the robe. Keeping tailoring for now, will see how it will turn out. Can drop it later. Will be looking at DE mats on my level 5 bank alt which can disenchant anything. Mining still sells thorium (and a bit of mithril) around 15-18g per stack (20). I stash arcane crystals for personal use, at least some. If I get my alchemy alt to 35 I can start my own arcanite chain.
In general just killing some mobs and doing dungeons will give a steady income. Professions are just the cherry on top when you want to do more aggressive purchases, have higher consumables needs.
