Being able to see ENNEMY’s active buffs and aura?
I dont get how some addons do that? I know checking combat log for spell/buff activation is a thing, but in some cases, buffs/aura from abilities were applied way before, or when the target was not even in sight
For example, how can it know your ennemy has Ony buff ? it doesnt show in the combat log, doesnt it? I dont get where does the addon get that info from?
Same for some abilities. I was watching a streamer attacking an afk hunter and it showed hunter having aspect of monkey (dodge). How can the addon know?
The element of surprise is a part of gameplay, isnt it? So i’m curious as to how it is possible, and if it’s even legit ? (maybe blizzard doesnt give a f anyways? )
If there are addons that brake ToS EULA that are on Legit platforms like Curse, That those addons will automaticly be Blocked ingame as i’ve had one addon that at one point was fine and later on wasn’t fine and it stopped working had some red line “Banned” where it says outdated and other stuff. So i haven’t tried it myself but i think you’d have to Edit/modify files to get certain hacks/exploits working. Which is obviously not intended.
Remember Spy, first few months?
Its a game of whack-a-mole.
Theres no way of viewing a players buffs that were applied outside of combat log range, any addon that does so is acting like the mage spell, and is ripe for the banhammer.
OFC blizzard are slow and useless, look at the bot fix
It comes up in combat log, just try it. Check every box in the combat log and you’ll see the buffs. Why they show up is another question, you’ll have to ask blizzard about it.
You can’t ban an addon, if it uses API explicitly provided by blizzard. And it’s completely uneffective since an addon is just a bunch of code, you could copy it or parts of it under a different name and then what? The only case that ever happened was with RealMobHealth, because it was causing server issues due to it spamming comms channel and they implemented its functionality in the API instead.
Yea i do. Used it myself they fixed the issues with that addon in a good way. Incase of the OP and you i agree we shouldn’t be able to see that unless You used detect magic or a mage in your party used detect magic. There’s a whole lot of vague area’s and i’m sure they will be judged in a case to case basis. They slow cause they want to make sure that it is what it is. Although i’d think it would be easy to find bots.
http s://wago.io/p37DjGlw8 this is the weakaura you’re talking about and btw this isn’t the first time weakauras are caught doing stuff the blizzard default UI specifically disables, phase 1 of classic people were getting banned for using a weakaura that enabled both detect herbalism and detect mining according to the discords servers I’m on.
Similarly to the spy addon all these addons do is parse the combat log. If Blizzard thinks it’s an issue they can either ban the addons or make it so this information isn’t available to your client. They already heavily nerfed the spy addon with similar adjustments to the combat log.
"some addon just asks the WoW API with UnitAura() what kind of buffs your target has. Its the same function that allows you to see buffs of friendly targets. However its Blizzards fault that the API returns something if the target is hostile and doesn’t have magic detect on it.
So Blizzard could easily fix this if they want to, but they chose not to"
Sort of wrong info, UnitAura does not report enemy auras. Instead, the library creates tooltips for enemy buffs, and reads text from them - for some reason Blizzard “forgot” to make them unavailable.
That’s mostly for targets out of range and doesn’t work very reliably. For nearby targets it just goes off combat log, which is much more responsive.
I see. Could it be undone without conflicting in any way with Wacraft logs ?
Really, the matter for me is more about being able to see aura/potions/buffs used beforehands by the ennemy
Seeing the buffs/aura used right in front of your eyes by your target is not so much a problem
Of course this is only used by people seeking unfair advantage over others, just like the spy addon was.
Also complete enemy cooldown information shouldn’t be shown.
But as we all know Blizz, they might take action in the next 6-12 months, so enjoy it you dirty cheaters.
I like the enemy cooldown addon that communiactes with all users that have it in same bg. So if war uses potion next to joe, ik it becaus joe and I are using the addon
How would you stop that tho? Simply don’t show people popping cooldowns in the combatlog? Because that’s really only way to stop it, all they do is a start a timer for X when it detects a cooldown being used.
