I was personally fine with PVP servers existing, it was at least tolerable and didn’t give the horde more biased advantages.
I like Warmode, despite not doing a lot of PVP…keeps things lively and in return I get some bonus xp while leveling, which imho, is a fair trade-off… the only problem can be LFG, because of the On/Off mechanic.
In fact the only time I tend to switch War Mode off on my Mains and all my Alts, is when headbangers post threads on the Forums, demanding Blizz turn every realm into a PVP Server and that Flying is removed, because wPVP (oh, and during the timed questing for the Shadowbarb Mount).
Those ones are odd. WM in general lacked foresight. If they really had to make it (they didn’t) then Horde should have had no access to any bonuses or WM skills. Them turning it on would be like toggling PVP.
That way the horde numbers in wPVP would have remained more static and more alliance would have come in, evening out wPVP numbers to some extent.
Yes I get that it would effectively be “alliance mode”, but what we have now is horde mode. And horde already get cool things like mercenary mode etc!
I kinda like the warmode, but imo they should remove the reward from it or atleast make it into like a +10% extra honor from kills etc. Imo the way it increase the rewards for everything is a bad design. But I know, if it would only give pvp rewards then the warmode would be even more deserted. All in all, good change for those who hate pvp and rolled on a pvp server and can’t reroll for some reason.
Horde do not deserve any bonuses. Only those on Argent Dawn

Just a heads up the balance was become like this because of the alliance, the population was around 46%A-54%H.
But even then the pvp oriented players would still camp/grief the alliance players who just turned it on to have the extra rewards because they “had to” do in order to not left behind so in the end the crying would be the same like now 10% horde reward and 30% alli reward without any change and still the alliance players fill every warmode related post. Maybe you guys shouldn’t be rewarded for this mentality because as we see its not working.
Well the horde win the warmode by chased the alliance out from it and it was pretty even by the statistics its was 5-6% difference to the horde side. World of Warcraft is the only “world” where the losers get rewarded more than the winners and you guys are still keep complaining and asking for more and more rewards even though y’all got a lot and still nothing changed.
And it never will because this is the majority of the alliance playerbase’s mentality to cry as loud as possible without wanting to do anything.
If you are fighting both players and npc, you should get extra rewards than just npc fights.
And if you don’t like it, you can just ignore it just like LFR.
If someone thinks warmode was a flop, think of it this way, you can now play with your friends even if they are pvp interested. You still have a sanctuary that protects you from being ganked.
You have nothing to lose because 10% is just a bonus.
Warmode sucks right now but it could be good with a couple of changes. Nobody actually world pvps because there is no reward for it. The warmode reward comes from just having it on, not from pvping.
So what if u get a baseling 10% + whenever u kill someone u get an additional X% buff stacking up Y times and if u die they steal some of your stacks.
That would make people actually want to fight eachother instead of ignore eachother all the time.
Also the whole assassin/bounty system is pretty lack luster. Theres no reason to ever want to be the bounty exept if u want to get jumped by 20 people on their flying mounts so i usually just kill myself if i get it so i dont have to deal with that

not even realm basis, should really be shard basis.
You can be in a realm favored by the other faction and have huge bonuses but if you are lucky you are sharded to a shard that is favored towards you.
Or you can abuse sharding by trying to get as much groups as possible in your shard to get max xp bonus without having too much problems with enemies.
Shard based bonuses would solve that for a big part.
Things shard based would fix that realm can’t fix is.
If realm based there are alliance rp pvp dominated realms at the moment, which they also get the 30% warbonus xp from.
If you do realm bonuses horde will get the 30% bonus but they would just create a group to shard as much people from other realms over to their shard with the 30% bonus creating a equal or even them favored shard.
Vice versa also works.
That is why shard based is best, it lowers it when the shard starts to get balanced to prevent abuse!
Not really, if you’re severely outnumbered you won’t care about rewards as much as staying alive. But I agree with you with rewards should be based on actually doing PvP not just being flagged for PvP.
The problem comes down to faction balance again. They need to find a way to achieve that balance and even the odds a bit, both in PvP and PvE.
Sharding is subject to abuse and I don’t think that’s really the solution to the problem.
In order to revive World PvP you first need to achieve a fair PvP environment for everyone. All these tech tricks only patch the problem but don’t fix it.
A stable community for each server is the solution for every single problem, but that is very tough to achieve.
Imo I think this is the wrong mentality to have. War Mode/Open world PvP is the only game mode where things should not be fair and where everything varies day by day.
Personally I mostly play horde, have like 1 alliance alt, and I would be more than happy with giving 100% xp to the alliance in WM and 10% horde to incetivise more people rolling alliance, but also turning it off should have a cost of maybe 1k gold or something just that those people who turn in WM for rewards and then turn it off as soon as they finish wq’s are hindered.
Shard hopping and lag are a different issue, but the system is fundamentally flawed mostly because world pvp is locked into the latest content zones.
I liked the idea someone proposed that you should collect stuff after every kill and that it would make people fight instead of avoid each other.
Sadly the devs enforce the idea that is NOT a PvP friendly game and from a gameplay perspective it’s not rewarding to do it.
The hardcore PvPers are less and less. People are moving to Horde mostly for PvE and couldn’t care less about PvP.
Long gone are the days when competitive PvP used to be a real phenomena that brought prestige both in game and on social media platforms.
It seems like the only things that matter are stupid MDI and Hall of Fame.
Generally I like Warmode a lot, but there are times when it has to be turned of. The anniversary event, for example, I keep Warmode off as Alliance because otherwise it’s impossible to pick up or do any of the quests.
Yes to this, but I’d not give any additional rewards for World PvPing as that would just amplify the Horde number advantage and make even more unbalanced. What is needed imho is to discourage casual Horde Warmoders who only switch it on for the 10% buff. Blizz should drop the reward by 10% across the board so that the majority faction players get no benefit at all apart from the fun of open-world PvP.
Not sure if someone has pointed this out: Once warmode is removed you will get players on PvP realms moaning that they can´t quest cause of ganking. then people will tell that person to leave the realm and this will just go in circles.
People still complain about dieing with warmode on while questing c.c you just can´t please anyone
Warmode changed nothing. It is a failed experiment that anyone with half a brain could see failing when it was announced.
The only thing it actually changed is that it made the game worse. So it changed everything but the issue it was supposed to be adressing.
Why bring attention to this, we’re getting a couple neat bonuses for having it on, just leave it at that.

I would like to see all PvE bonuses removed from War Mode so that it only rewards PvP currencies and rewards.
