Skinning priority - a fix against same faction griefing

For those farming Devilsaur for their pre-raid bis in Ungoro, you should’ve noticed that there’s a lot of same faction griefers that stealth on the devilsaur spawns and all they do is skin the devilsaur using macros and addons to speed things up to steal the loot from those who actually do the first tag and get the kill
Some people could argue that “it’s part of the experience”, but I strongly believe it isn’t. The real spot contesting experience is the pure horde vs alliance conflict, killing each other over spawns/stealing our enemies loot and generating more pvp in the zone
People at blizz can probably come up with a good way to address this, but I’d suggest something like placing a “modifier” on specfic high contested skinning mobs, like the Devilsaur, with a skinning timer, like a first tag priority, of 5 - 10 seconds after the mob is killed

Blizzard will not do anything because Blizzard does not care about players except for their $$$ unfortunately.

Yeah unfortunately one of the big drawbacks with classic is that it’s kind of a safe haven for degenerates. You see a lot of if every day.

Personal loot system and your suggestion would be great changes that I would gladly welcome. Obviously the “community” cannot act like adults and so that freedom gets abused by degenerates.

Another issue not directly connected to this, but to skinning, is when you do the skinning and as the leather should go into your bag… it just doesn’t happen.

No failed attempt, no leather. The corpse is still there, but tapped. And you know it’s yours, but the game says “Nope!”

Not a soul in sight, and the corpse stay put. Great!

The solution in WoW2 is that skins are part of the loot.
Gathering skills prevent from using crafting skills.

My experience in WoW1 was that I was usually alone, thus no stealing.
Was it like this in early 2005, or are we playing a twisted 21st century version?
(Inspired by busy cities: queues, body checks, etc.)
Occasionally, sure, but as a baseline.

WoW2?
did I time travel without noticing?

No, I just consider GW2 an answer to WoW in so many ways, reviewing its practices, that I tend to call it WoW2 sometimes. Intentionally, of course.

The vast majority of complaints about early WoW are resolved there mechanically.
Many of those have been copied back to later WoW editions, but others skipped to keep WoW’s identity (as a cruel mistress ) and of course players have been split in two based on creep chasers vs horizontal content enjoyers.

Skinning and stealing are easy examples - public tag, everyone gets loot, skins are part of it, and all players are allied. I can’t think about a single time I hated the presence of another player around.

strongly believe whatever you want. this was a thing back in 2004 and it was a thing in private servers 2012-today. its like youve never heard of the devilsaur mafia.

player created problems require player created solutions.

Can you give an example?

And they can get away with it because it’s a mega server instead of a close community where people know each other.

That’s the real problem/fix for ya.

Wait for like 5 seconds with looting when you get to the body they can’t skin before you looted it and this makes their skinning go off early - and if you then not loot by using shift+click you can see when they’re busy, then loot and skin in one fel swoop.

most of the people around those spots seems to be using automation methods to tag and skin theirs and other people’s devilsaurs
a (same faction) grief prevention method like this would invalidate the use of those tools

Bandaid “fix” really but use

/cast [@mouseover,dead] Skinning

Bind this and spam it with ur mouse over the corpse as you loot it. Its not ideal but its better than doing it “manually” and to my knowledge beyond macros any kind of addon etc that can somehow autoskin for you is a bannable offense.

Thank you, I’m already doing this, but even so some people actually get it first all the time
