I was expecting this answer but damn. This is why wow is going downhill and losing subs.

Paladin - Ret - Night Fae from start of SL to about a month ago, M+ to about 10 each or so at the time, finished Normal/HC Nathria and did 2 mythic bosses then the guild stopped raiding mythic cause of not enough players.
Thanks a lot Blizz for this wonderful expac where player subs dropped like flies.
Now:
Paladin - Ret - Kyrian - changed a few days before we stopped raiding a month ago… now i’m a filthy casual doing 1-4 M+ (m10-12) per week for the vault, but will do M+ up to 15 for KSM starting with 9.05 (it’s next reset btw) where valor system is implemented as right now there’s literally no point.
BTW changed from NF to Kyrian because the difference is 1-2k dps. Great system no? Balanced too!
Will re-start raiding mythic in 9.1 as we’re on hold now.
Now tell me mister casual, what about it?
Do you like how i changed from the under performing covenant to the more performing one with great timing?
I am not playing DH. I am playing MM. This is my forum char and since I usually post with him I am not posting from my main.
Then why you are not playing druid? Its better.
The data is being pulled from the armory, so its as accurate as you could ask for. If you cannot read numbers, then its not my fault. How about go be a clown somewhere else then?
Yeah except its missing everyone who hides their profile or don’t do competitive stuff.
Otherwise wow would be at death’s door with these numbers and SL would be last expansion blizzard would ever make.
Stop, just stop.
Says who and for what content? MM hunter is perfectly viable for mythic plus. I play all classes but obviously I can only main one due to the time required. Picking a wrong covenant is like picking every wrong talent in your talent tree and then some. I have seen how my necrolord hunter performs. I would probably still struggle to clear a +10 had I chosen the covenant that I preferred more aesthetically.
There aren’t so many people who hide their profiles. And regards
Do you know what armory is and how it works?
But its not best so you are already choosing subpar option. Mage and druid is better.
You don’t need to worry about Covenant choices in terms of performance at the level of play you’re currently at.
You just don’t.
Pick whatever you want.
When you progress to a higher difficulty where performance is more essential to success, then it’s worth reconsidering what Covenant to pick and why.
I mean, back in TBC and early WotLK I was quite the min/max player myself. I had tailoring going into WotLK, but because you got a few stats more from the gems specific to Jewelcrafting, then I dropped Tailoring and picked up Jewelcrafting.
I did that then, because my guild was all about server first progression raiding and such.
The choice made sense because it was relevant to the manner in which I played the game back then.
These days I’m a filthy casual, so I would never consider such a min/max choice. It doesn’t correlate with the content I’m doing.
And neither does it for you.
I choose the class I will play based on a balance between what I enjoy playing and what I can play well enough. Don’t bring class choice into a conversation about covenants. Because you are basically trying to derail the conversation.
Class choice is nowhere near the same as covenant choice. Because the choice of a covenant is much closer to the choice of a talent rather the entirety of a class.
Anywhere there’s a timer involved or an enrage it matters. Are you trolling?
Do you know the difference between covenants? Kyrian and Night Fae for ret?
Maybe try doing higher than M4 and LFR then re-assess. Every ability is apart of the road to success.
Doing 1-2k less dps can and will cause wipes in m+ and raids.
It does for me, have you tried playing Night Fae in m+ as ret? Your ability might as well not exist when compared with Kyrian.
My point being that if you’re doing anything below bleeding-edge hardcore content, then you’re playing with people who aren’t min/maxing every aspect of their gameplay.
Therefore it doesn’t really matter so much if you’ve picked one Covenant or another. What determines whether you’ll complete your key in time is more that you and those you play with can avoid standing in the fire and know how to interrupt various abilities. Basic stuff.
If you’re doing World First raid progress, then an extra 100 dps can be the ONLY difference between a kill and a 1% wipe, because you are literally improving upon high levels of perfection.
For anything below that, there are way more factors to improve upon that can make the difference between a kill and a wipe, before anything as extreme as min/max Covenant choices come into play.
So what you are saying is you shouldn’t min/max covenant choices, you just need to min/max everything else.
I will give you the same example I give everyone when it comes to covenant “choice”. Let’s say you want to do 2 things. Dig a hole in the ground and eat your cereal. In order to do BOTH these activities you are handed the “choice” between a spoon and a shovel. What would you choose? Once you choose one you can’t use the other.
This is what covenant choice looks like. While you can still eat cereal with a shovel and dig a hole with a spoon you are making your life harder for no damn reason other than the illusion of choice. Ofc I can clear +15 with the wrong covenant and talents. But doing so will be like dragging myself through broken glass.
Timers, i’m already avoiding stuff and helping with healing when needed.
You’re completely oblivious to even normal raiding, 1% wipes happen there too.
Someone having the right covenant would have caused that to not be a wipe either.
And yet, having X or Y covenant does not guarantee that those other factors are at lvl 1 or 2, It only guarantees that you have the power of X and Y covenant.
Covenant choices are not min/max extreme as you put it, they’re literally up to 30% of the specs performance.
With that much of a difference, go ahead and not use your #2 highest dps or heal ability, it’ll matter less.
Sounds dumb right? Not using your 2nd highest dps or heal ability? Because it is, and it’s less than the difference between some covenants.
Now to get back to the most important issue.
Why do you care if others can change covenant abilities as they see fit?
Are you really interested in what others use?
If you weren’t, you wouldn’t care that they could change covenant abilities depending on if they wanted to or not.
Who cares dude, its not best so you are gimping yourself, slowing down your team. Intentionally choosing subpar option.
This thread is really strange. Can’t see how some stupid threads are responsible for the covenant/conduits lock. It was Blizzard’s decision from the beginning.
For the content I am doing it is good enough that I am not gimping anyone. It really seems you lack simple reasoning. Also since you went ahead and played the main card. Why don’t you log your main so we can see what content you are doing.
If its not best then its not good enough by your logic.
Pretty sure top players could wipe the floor with you or me while playing the wrongest covenant possible.
Just check my FOS, they are account wide lol. I have(had) 12 alts when i was playing. SL completely killed my desire to play but for literally every OTHER reason than covenants.
