So do hunters suck that much in classic or is it a meme?

All classes sucks.
Until you bring them together, then they enhance eachother and create beautiful music.

That was the point of their differenses. It’s a “Rock-Paper-Scissors” setup. You learn what their strengths and weaknesses are, and adapt accordingly.

This changed in Retail though. Everyone became a One-man army, self sufficient and able to handle any situation.

Pick whatever class you like. There is always something you bring to a team.

Looking at logs from pirate servers, hunter dps starts strong and falls hard because they will do roughly the same dmg now till they get chrom bow when it will go up a bit and stay the same till naxx

Ok here is from a lvl 60 geared to teeth ancient petrified leaf complete hunter

You are dead if any class gets the jump on you

You are dead if a warlock gets within 36 yards of you

You are dead if a mage gets within 8 yards of you (assuming you dont have engineering)

However if you get into the mentality of red=dead and actually open on everyone you see from 41 yards, you win every wpvp situation.

I dont think your spot in dps meter is worth talking about as pve is a joke in classic anyway.

The huntard meme is two-fold, one because their DPS falls off massively in late-game PvE and they’re a complete pain in PvP (not tough, but annoying).
The other reason is this:
The class itself is cursed.
Just playing a Hunter will cause you to see every weapon as a Hunter weapon (even if it has no stats whatsoever), leave Growl on and pull everything.
If you have a hunter in your group you will be competing with it for your BiS gear.

Hell even today a guildie lost a Core Hound Tooth (he’s a Rogue) to a Hunter whilst another Hunter threw a hissy fit because he didn’t get it.

they do suck at 60, during phase one (mc/ony) they’re fine. but after that they become literal dogsht and a meme to play

You are perfectly fine for every aspect of the game now in phase one. PvP is kind of kill or be killed, but that’s true for many classes. The problems begin in PvE in phase 3 and onward. You will find yourself in a DPS bracket with meme specs like ret, shadow, oomkin or feral who doesn’t pop MCP every fight and doesn’t being full consumes. By the time AQ rolls around, you will be one of the two hunters in raid, brought along only for your tranquilizing shot. And you will be to very bottom of the DPS chart, as noone brings meme specs to AQ and Naxx. If that is a fate you are fine with, it is an amazingly comfy levelling experience.
In fact I have a hunter alt on my own that I do not expect to ever bring to raids, but just enjoy the comfy levelling once I start raidlogging on my mage and have him prepared to be my main in Classic TBC, when the roles turn around, mage becomes a joke class and BM Hunter with ravager pet is an undisputed king of raid DPS.

Wow people talking non sense.

People say hunter dps bad just because it falls behind later on like phase 5-6. And you know what phase 5-6 is maybe a year away. Right now hunter is very strong.

Easy leveling.
Amazing dps at 5man and raid groups.
Less competition for gears.
Both onyxia and mc gives you a special hunter bow quest.
Super op in PvP.
Taking care of your pet is actually fun.

I don’t know why people saying hunter dps is bad, that will start to happen around phase 5 and till phase 5 you will probably have couple of 60s.

I rerolled to hunter few days ago, its just fun af.

Edit: Also don’t forget this; classic is way different than actual vanilla. I mean people cleared the raids in week one. So don’t expect a huge challenge unless blizz buff the raid bosses. Don’t be scared, only 2 hunters in raid means less competition and easy loot for you ^^

People would take more hunter in raids right now but there are not many hunters due to this problem, very stoopid but all good. Like I say it’s less competition for gears.

Have fun rolling with 15 other mages for one piece of gear.

Hunter are the best dps this early on but it doesnt scale well later. Mages can outdps you but most mages have to deal with mechanics that slow down their dps while hunters are mostly unaffected, making hunter attractive as dps.

They are great fun in pvp but right now hunter abilities are working inconsistently compared to pservers, not sure how long it will take for blizz to fix it.

I dunno where this is coming from, but warrior and rogue are the ones that do the most DPS right now, followed by mage and hunter.

@OP - the hunter meme comes from them falling behind in later content. You can worry about that after 1-2 years. For now, there’s no reason not to play a hunter.
