So do hunters suck that much in classic or is it a meme?

I’m full aware of the dps limitations they have…but to be honest I don’t mind, classic wow is also about the utility

I was planning on rolling a dwarf hunter, as it looks like a really fun class to play, and then a warrior later on.

How are they in pvp, in 1v1, in group pvp, in dungeons, in raids? That lack luster, or still ok overall?

Thanks a lot

Level 27 hunter, easier & stronger than any class i’ve played and i’ve played Druid, priest & warrior to lvl 16

Not sure bout high lvl tho

At max level in a raid group, your DPS wont be competitive and that’s partly where the meme comes from.

However, you’ll still be useful. You’ll still bring trueshot aura and tranqshots and you’ll be used to kite dragons on Razorgore in BWL.

Hunter is also arguably the best solo class and the uncontested best low level PVP class. When twinks start coming into play, hunters will destroy low level battlegrounds.

hunter are only good for leveling then they arent good. also you wont be invited much because hunter need so many different stats they have to roll on everything and people dont want that lol, reroll if you can or wait until TBC

dont play hunter, its bugged as hell, if you want to die in any 1v1 cuz ur abilities doesnt work as intented

You absolutly do not need to kite anything on razogore

Tactics for him got worked out at times when anything else was entirely unthinkable. And if kiting works, then… it works.

Didn’t had any problems getting into 5/10 mans and topping damage meters, while providing both Aura/Traps and easy pulls.

Hunter is strong early on but it doesnt scale nearly as well as all the other classes so it as patches come out its relative dps will decrease

Kiting the dragons during the add waves makes life much easier and it’s not like hunters will be doing much else anyway.

I didn’t say you need to, I said it makes the class more useful than just a mediocre DPS.

If you are in a semi decent guild you will have more than enough dpsbto kill everything with 0 kiting. Half pf raz fight will be spent afk waiting for next wave to spawn

  • Very easy to level
  • Excellent at soloing elites at 60 that almost no-one else can do
  • Bang average DPS in raids no matter how hard you try, but you bring buffs
  • Meh in solo PvP against most classes but excellent for premade BG groups

Overall it’s a fun class to play at any level and viable both for PvE and PvP. Don’t let the memes get in your way, if you want to play a hunter, do it and you won’t regret it.

Great thing about hunters is that all loot is hunter loot.

My experience with my Hunter so far;

  • Prolonged AoE? Bad.
  • Cleave? Decent.
  • Single target? Great.
  • Leveling experience? Amazing.
  • Soloing content? The best.

As BM I even maintanked most 5-mans up to ZF.

As for PvP however, Hunters are currently bugged in a (for us) really bad way, but Blizzard has at least admitted that there is a bug and they’re investigating.

They do great DPS in Raid, a bit less in dungeon (because raid are more single target oriented, dungeon is more AoE in 2019 but even in AoE you can do great damage).

Don’t listen the plebe that will say “Oh Hunter they are bottom-damage in raid and they doesn’t scale lol”. No they aren’t, sure if you have green gear and all of your raids are BiS Molten Core. But in reality, you will get middle to semi-top tier DPS especially on some content when caster have others things to do (ex : dispell curse) and mechanic disadvantage melee (ex : Shazzrah blink + arcane explosion, Geddon flame) or caster (ex : counterspell, magic resistance like in UBRS on chromatic dragon, magic shield, …).

Plus you can solo Maraudon Princess, and you can destroy any Mage in PvP with 2 spell : Viper Sting + Run away + Raptor Strike if Mage come to melee.

A great Hunter is very, very solid. And it’s not hard to gear, buy your Devilsaure set, farm pre-raid BiS, and go Molten Core with 3 or 4 others Hunter while Mage struggle to get a single item. And the kitting part of Hunter is so satisfying  .

Cons : pet to manage so harder class than a Mage that spam frostbolt, arrow to manage, and if you don’t know when to unsummon + resummon your pet, you will end to aggro zillions of mob in dungeon or raids and people will start to spit on you  .

Get good, thats it

one hunter is brought for every raid and its the easiest class to gear in raid because most competition is among casters.

Conviently forgetting about locks, palas and druids huh

Just make a dwarven hunter as you wanted and play him for a bit. You either will like him or not. Hunter is a great class, specially for leveling and playing solo. You will also have a pet’s minigame. If you are so worried people won’t inv you to raids - join casual raiding guild. In those guilds people will take good and nice players to raids, regardless of class and spec, and probably struggling to get 40 man on time. All that “you won’t raid if you play feral” etc. only applies to hardcore serious raiding guilds that know exactly how much of which class they are going to take raiding.
