So gear does 40% of my dmg

And this is just one of many reasons why classic is so much Better

this is horrifying tbh. To me it sounds like corruption is just a prelude to whatever theyā€™re introducing in SL. An identical system with a different name ā€¦

That is my biggest worry too, they just give it some shadowlanding name instead with some tweaks and weā€™ll be stuck with this farcical RNG based gearing and dps.

Iā€™m curious on your thoughts about this system though, I think I it would be quite a bit of fun if there were only generic corruptions. Iā€™ve got a few ā€œincrease crit from all sourcesā€ pieces and that seems fine. Itā€™s quite a bit of dps increase and the risks seem appropriate while letting you be creative with which gear you need/want (crit isnā€™t my most important secondary but since it is increased it suddenly becomes much more relevant).
I honestly only have a problem with the specific corruptions like stars since thatā€™s, as the op said, purely a random damage spike.

If they were minor things that didnā€™t have a huge effect on peopleā€™s damage I think theyā€™d probably just be seen as minor bonuses. Itā€™s the disparity between the majority of the corruptions and the few good ones.

I didnā€™t get a void echo one until after the nerf and itā€™s very disappointing. The two I now have to try and get lucky with are the Infinite Stars and Twilight Devastation. This seems to be the case for most dps classes. Personally I think itā€™s very wrong that some random proc can do huge amounts of your damage in content.

how else are they gonna introduce pay to win to WoW without the gear doing all your damage for you?

Id like to see system where we can break any armor we dont use into pieces and gain shards that we imbue with crafting mats to create stat upgrades we can implement in our gear the way we decide to. With certain restrictions ofc. Maybe we see something like this in 10 years when next Blizzard takes best parts from best upcoming RPGs and boom!
