I am no expert on numbers and the meta sh*te. But I remember rogues and warriors doing quite well back in the day. Could be that people were terrible and just played what they enjoyed (because that’s the entire point of playing this game).
Warlocks were always top, alongside hunters. Geared rogues and warriors were right up there with them.
as long as you are not into a super tryhard guild that competes for world first kills as a rogue u gonna be fine…its true that at the start of the expansion rogue dps is a bit lacking but we scale up towards BT and starting dealing some nice numbers (plus that rogue is very good/popular in pvp if thats ur cup of tea)
STOP comparing the new TBC with the actual TBC back at 2007. It’s been 14 years people didn’t know what min maxing is.
People didn’t care back then when warriors were nerfed to hell (deathwish went to arms, no world buffs to scale, hostile melee trash and bosses).
There is no way a rogue or a warrior outdps any bm hunter or lock overall no matter the phase get over it.
hehe looks like I am banned from raiding lol. but I dont even like going into raids because its treated as Ranked PvE. Heroics be different but we will have same problems as classic.
Deathwish went to Arms, but also WW now hits with offhand and expertise is added to the game. I don’t know why you think Rogues/Warriors will not beat hunters or locks, it’s going to happen a lot. It happened a lot in 2008, it happens a lot on private servers.
People weren’t min-maxing in 2008? You’ve not heard of landsouls dps spreadsheet then? A bunch of classes had fully working dps spreadsheets to min-max gearing, theorycrafting (elitist jerks forums) was a big part of TBC raiding. Melee was only weak at the launch of TBC, which was all fixed by 2.1. We are getting 2.4.3 where Rogues kickass from T5 onwards (they were already stacked for every world first) and Warriors are amazing from T4 onwards.
I will just say, on Magtheridon I will be top damage playing Fury, on Gruul I will be top 1-3 on damage. You can play any class you want, and cry all you want when that happens.
That’s not truth mate, in 2007 the min-maxing mentality occured there as well. It is part of EVERY game you know, but that’s not important.
If you are true that ppl will inv to raids only that with best DPS and best everything… why in classic hunters have no problem to find a spot? Or ele shamans? Or shadow priests? Or ppl without engineering? Explain…
Majority ppl are not HC beings watching DPS meters and calculating, why am I not in TOP 10 DPS on the server…
If you have some negative experience with it, then hey, search for ppl with more similar mentality, semi HC and casual players and communities are very friendly and they reach good results in terms of clearing raids and obtaining gear, which moves you further. Don’t believe these voices rogues and warriors will be abandonded, it’s not truth. Watch some youtube deep guides about it, should persuade you that non-usefulness of melee in TBC is wide spread hoax.
Please apply to my guild on your Warlock, I will be playing on Mirage Raceway, I want to beat you personally on your Warlock. I was a top 20 ranking playing in 2008 and I maintained that every time I raided until Nighthold, I had 7 rank 1’s in HFC and 99% per average. That same year I played Fury Warrior on a Pserver with some of the best Classic and retail players in the world (like Exander from Progress was melee officer in the guild)…
I’m very confident in my ability and my knowledge of TBC (I was involved in development of gearing sheets used by Pserver players). I’m also confident in my ability to raid lead all of TBC. You’re talking based on having read half a reddit post or watched a youtube vid where somebody told you Warrior is gonna be bad and you’re putting confidence in that.
Please do quote me in 6 months after you’ve been owned by skilled warriors already in T4.
you dont get it i pl;ay a warrior and i’d love to play a fury warrior on tbc…the problem is that no guild has a single spot about any warrior untill T6…but again let’s just wait and see
That’s nonsensical mate, every damn guild in 2008 ran 1-2 Fury Warriors, in Sunwell one of those Fury Warriors got turned into an Arms Warrior. Some guilds dropped the 2nd Fury for a Rogue or Ret, it really depends on a lot of factors.
Warriors in T4 are amazing because of changes up to and including 2.4.3 (they were terrible in 2.0 for a number of reasons, including itemisation which got changed). Then the added crafting patterns. Ragesteel, Fel Leather armor sets, amazing trinket with Bloodlust Brooch (+ hourglass/crusader deck) and Dragonstrike (from BS). If you also have access to Naxx gear on Classic now you can get a few pre-bis items before you even level up. You grab Vengeance Wrap or Cloak of Darkness (both crafted, tailor/LW) that last until T6 and you can also get Shadowprowler’s Chestguard (LW BOE) which is a leather chest comparable with T4 chest, though T4 is nicer if you can get 2set.
Now Gruul + Maggy both have raidwide damage, which means you get plenty of free rage. Maggy is also a cleave fight, and Warriors are the best cleave in the game.
Every guild will run a melee team, an Enhance, 1-2 Warriors, 1-2 Rogues, possibily 1 Ret, possibly even 1 Feral dps. Sometimes you get a BM hunter in the melee group… Raid comps will vary based on what people are playing, class balance in TBC is amazing compared to classic which is a clown town, just play what you want.
Never had problems to outDPS everyone back then in TBC. and i was only a crappy Dagger (Mutilate) Rogue. When everyone shouted in my new guild, that i have to spec Combat. LOL. i showed them all what a passionate Rogue is all about. in ZA, i outdpsed even a BM Hunter which was better equipped than me.
Never had Problems to bring dps to a raid and beeing almost at every boss fight in the top 3. (That was before the Black Temple). I cant even imagine how brutal the DMG with Warglaives in T6 Content was…
So my conclusion is: play what u want. the fun matters !
Depends. How “Competitive” guild you plan to be part of? Top 1% will bring 1 rogue and 1 warrior (dps) only for their debuffs while none of this matters for the rest.
Sure you will have problems if you bring your “classic” raid comp into TBC, but I’m sure that most dps pumpers already have their Warlocks or Hunters ready to go for TBC.
My classic char is Nastyman on Firemaw (60 alliance warrior), but I don’t care about Classic and don’t play it, I began playing in TBC so that’s where my Nostalgia is. I intend to play on Mirage Raceway and I’m currently levelling the character. It’s named Quattro, some people know the name linked to my theorycrafting stuff from Outland, to most people it’d be meaningless.
I’m still putting together people for the guild, we will not be going for any big world firsts or anything like that, but we will steamroll the content, as we have done previously, and have a blast while doing so. We will run what we have available, but so far that means an Enhance, 1 Rogue, 2x Dps Warrior (Arms/Fury) and 1-2 more melee, probably a Ret and maybe a 2nd Feral who will switch between dps/tank.
Of course, when you start recruiting players and not specs that 5-6 melee setup can easily end up with a lot more on any given night. You want a good time you recruit so that loot gets used not de’d, and so that people enjoy their time with you and turn up, perform well… You don’t recruit “this class or nothing”.
