I mean, i was excited when i first heard about valor points returning, but then i saw that this iteration of it doesn’t actually address any of the actual problems that M+ has.
The item level is capped at 220 which is below raid and PVP gear so M+ is gonna stay completely irrelevant outside of the once per week run for the vault. M+ dungeons still only give 1-2 items per run meaning that your chances of getting anything at all are way too small to be worthwhile and it’s absolutely horrendous if you want a specific item. Lets say i want the Decanter of Anima-Charged Winds trinket from General Kaal in Sanguine Depths on my prot warrior. My chance of getting anything at all is already very small and if i do get anything there’s a 1/10 chance it’s the trinket.
And then the icing on the garbage cake is that you can’t actually upgrade any items obtained before the patch meaning that you’re gonna have to re-grind all your M+ items you worked so hard for and there is no doubt in my mind that this decision was made intentionally to pad Activision Blizzard’s “engagement metrics”.
I think Shadowlands, as good as the expansion is really has shown that Blizzard really don’t like mythic plus. They certainly don’t want it be a viable choice of end-game content, that’s for sure.
As someone who really loves M+ i would honestly prefer it if they stopped beating around the bush and just removed it from the game instead of keeping it around and insisting on making it as unrewarding and unviable as possible.
In it’s current state M+ is a complete waste of time and this wont change that sadly.
Yeah and I play a druid with min/max damaged brain - for all 4 speccs.
Its been horrible for a few expansions cause the differences necessary between them all.
At some point it felt friendlier to be a multispecc-person, now it feels like a curse. :<
I know I can just stop doing X specc etc, but that feels like giving up part of why I rolled a druid in Vanilla…
I love cats so I mained feral, could go bear tank in the right gear and X content (vanilla, after that it was np anywhere), I could heal if I felt like not stressing with DPS shenanigans…
I could also choose to go ranged instead of melee (but in vanilla it obv was a bit lackluster, it still - could - be done.)
Now I feel like my bags are constantly overstuffed with oddities, and I cant “belong” anywhere due to covenants.
I wish I could wholeheartedly just pick for cosmetics and daily activity (like abomination creation with necro etc), instead I see the massive differences between output and end up feeling bad if I pick “wrong”.
Not because OTHERS tell me its wrong, but because I - myself - feel nerfed by my own choices.
All this combined with gear being extreme casino-rng with low chances… and they keep repeating old hated designs with systems - like Valor points not usable on old gear etc.
Then top it off with timegates…
Its just not fun.
I can have fun with random stuff - but its not the systems.
Its shenanigans I do myself or with other humans, or its old stuff or things I can 100% see a progress bar go up (such as leveling) as I do things.
It feels wrong - too much so now.
It just makes me not want to play.
Sorry for lenghty post, thank you for reading my ted-talk.
They should make it go to 226ilvl, make it unlockable through Curve as an alternative or full HC Clear and make it apply to raid gear too. Would fix the majority of problems PvE Gear progression has right now.
Maybe let Mythic boss kill make the loot table of that specific boss go to 233 or 230 to still have an difference to HC/M+.
Still sucks that i cant upgrade my current pieces but for a 226 thats targetable i will take the compromise.
As someone else has stated, they had technical difficulties with corruption on cleansed items which was solved within 2 weeks of player complaint so they have some very recent history where they used the same excuse and it turned out to be wrong.
You can’t fault people for assuming it’s actually a motivation issue and not a technical issue, going by what has happened in the (recent) past
AFAIK mythic+ gear already has a tag that separates it by source from other gear sources so you can just let that be trigger that makes the function to upgrade available and call it a day
If anything it’d make more sense to me if they had to code in the exclusion on older items
That flavour text “Mythic 6” or whatever on those items is a pretty solid proof that these items certainly have some sort of easily identifiers. Match against the table of dungeon loot drops, check for M+ flag, add upgrade flag. Yea it’s a lot of data but not “I’m willing to refarm certain items that I spent huge amounts of time getting in the first place.”
Just wanna congratulate Blizzard on this decision to make it impossible to upgrade M+ gear we already have, as it has finally allowed me to uninstall this sad, cynical excuse of a game, with 2 more weeks of game time remaining.
And how did they do it in BFA, when flagging billions of cleansed items for re-corruption???
How did they do it in MoP 10 years ago (TEN YEARS AGO) for upgrading raid drops?
You are talking like its impossible to do, well, newsflash, they already did it on multiple ocasions…
Some people really need to start reading with comprehension. I never said it is impossible.
BUT it is not that easy as some people claim it to be. Thus = technical difficulty.
I explained why it is technical difficulty. If you think you can handle it ezpz then go work for blizzard and let us see how you do it.
The very first problem to overcome is massive database that you have to iterate and FINISH before maintenance ends. It can be done but its not simple. Your first-script isn’t going to cut it.
Second problem is finding someone who can accept responsibility for writing that, imagine amount of tickets when something goes wrong.
Third problem is that before that vendor goes live, they have no real environment to test it. This is why in BfA they did it LATER.
Are you blind? I did 2 month going in Mists of tirna scithe to get 210 trinket on Shaman and Now you saying that after patch I must farm this trinket second time?! TO AVOID FEELING, REALLY???
You care about stuff in our bags but not about us having to redo 3 months of grinding? Please solve this “technical” issue and let us upgrade our old items.
Did more than 20 plaguefall dungeons to get a trinket and that was just 1 slot, unlucky, but still.
Having to do that again is a massive slap in the face. But hey, atleast I don’t have to go through my item history!
Yeah cause its not like old expansions had systems exactly like that…
OH WAIT MoP, WoTLk - after outcry: Corruption in 8.3…
Stop brownnosing.
There are 100% existing versions of functional upgrade systems or gear obtain systems via points or badges that they have had before.
They need no new technology, they just need to stop thinking like suits who dislike games being FUN.
They don’t need to run the “Giga migration” at once. They can handle it the same way they handled squishing. By that I mean run the migration for each character when they login for the first time after the patch. You can know that by checking the armory of a character that has not logged in since xpac launch. You will see they may have ilvl 400 gear and unsquished stats.
They also did this many time before when they wanted to retroactively give anyone a new achievement. For example the new “complete all dungeons in time at M+5” can be easily granted retroactively for players who already did that before patch. They did that in the past when they added 100 reputations achievement. If a player had that achievement before patch, they got it when they logged on for the first time after the patch.
So they have the technical means to “run a script” on the server when a character logs on and “do some stuff” for that character.
They can do it if they want to and it’s not even something new, it is something they did before and have experience with!
Otherwise, the giga migration can run during the maintenance before the patch. They can shutdown servers (as they always do), and run the update. Updating a few millions database records is not a big deal if they do it during down time when there are no players stressing the servers.
That is not a reason for a multi billion dollar company to slap millions of users in the face and say “Screw all the time you put into our game so far, start from scratch!”
Seriously man the whole thing would have been less aggravating without the bottomlessly dumb excuse of wanting to help us not having to search our bags. WHAT THE HELL. I have 15 completed 15+ De Other Side for my trinket. That’s an easy 15 hours down the trash. And that’s not counting the runs that didn’t finish because someone left early. Man BUT AT LEAST I WON’T HAVE TO LOOK AT MY BAGS. SMH
