So very disappointed with The Silver Purpose

I have been enjoying Dragonflight so far, then saw that if I got the lvl 12 with the Valdrakken Accord there was additional storyline. Ace.

Got through to an Infusion of Materials and now it’s blocked. Because you HAVE to do a dungeon to progress the story. I thought they had got past gating the story progression through dungeons and raids. I have no problem with the very last bit of a story being a dungeon or raid, I’ll just watch it on Youtube, but this means I won’t be to continue the story when I eventually get to L19 with the accord.

In my personal opinion, just me, WoW dungeons are the least enjoyable part of the game, because as a filthy casual you can’t experience them except through Pugs. You can’t learn them except via Youtube vids and wowhead articles. I’m described as flower-sniffer type of player; I want to go into every room, interact with everything in the place, at my pace, knowing that I’m not ruining it for anyone else. Another issue is that my mains are tanks (for survivability out in the open world, and I like the playstyle of the druid tank, sneaking past when I can, fighting when I have to), but in the dungeons, the tanks have to control the pace of pulls, know the mechanisms inside out and herd the rest of party along. Just not fun, not even a little bit.

Just disappointed.

Then don’t use the dungeonfinder, instead make a group in the LFD… or, just go and do the dungeon with the random group who’ll will run through it in their sleep and afterward go back and explore the rooms. I did so with the Uldaman dungeon… collected all the books after the endboss was dead. No need to see problems where there are none. Life can be simpler.

Filthy blizzard they didn’t specifically designed game for your needs
They are doomed

You will get to do renown 19 story even you didn’t finish the renown 12 one! I hadn’t finished mine (dungeon part) when i got renown 19 and i was able to get the story and do it normally.

Just queue for dungean? Its not a super hard dungean by all means. It has some mechanics. If you’re tank, you’re relatively safe from mechanics

Time lock to push you buying game time, milking sweet cash, time is money, friend!

That is good to know, thank you.

It means it’s not a block on the story, just a side passage that can be ignored

Good news for you, my man. As a tank, you don’t need a group to clear normal / heroic DF dungeons. More often than not, group would just slow you down! So spec properly and run it solo.

Did you seriously use the word ‘gating’ ??
Behind halls of infusion NORMAL ?

If you’re somewhat geared.
Go into the dungeon solo and go at your own pace. It’s very doable

Completely share your sentiment OP, I managed to grit my teeth and complete it but it really annoys me and puts me off. I thought they had learnt by now. All the other quests are completely optional story wise but no, let’s gate this one… not just put it at the end and make it optional. I left WoW in protest when they pulled this stunt with the BFA Horde Campaign raid. Sure, LFR is easy for me but that isn’t the point. I came back when they removed the requirement.

No, some of “us people” suffer from anxiety/stress. It’s not something we want … I’d love to do a dungeon to do a storyline … but i can’t. I’m a solo player from necessity not from choice.

so am I, Im diagoned with anxiety. Im just saying queueing a dungeon and not saying a word just getting it done in 10 minutes isnt that big of a deal

Yup - same story here.
I just don’t pug because of it, just sticking with guild.
Queued content is alright, as DPS at least. So the increased queue time as DPS ain’t an issue if it’s just for one dungeon.

And for LFR there is enough people around that you kinda blend in anyways.

A normal dungeon shouldn’t be that much of a barrier, even for most that are too anxious for bigger (pug) content

You know its not only the Compagain, right? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
There are side quests or whole story lines that sends you in to a dungeon at least once
Or several times if you dont collect them
Not to mention the usual kill the end boss in the raid quest
Since, grab on something - they are part of the content, and WoW is not a Solo game
You can play it solo, but that is your choice, not how the game is designed

Legion had at least 1 dungeon in many of the Class Hall campaigns.
BfA had 4 dungeons and 1 raid wing for story quest line iirc.
SL had 1 dungeon for one of the Covenant campaigns.
DF has 1 dungeon for storyline.

I don’t like that kind of instanced content either OP, but sometimes in WoW you just need to hold your nose and sign up to dungeon finder. It’ll be over in a short while, like having to go to the dentist or get your car MOTed.

I find this so extremely ridiculous. Queuing up for a 5 man dungeon with 0 communication is in no way shape or form any different from doing LFR or even doing world content with players around you. Besides the perspective you created in your own mind.

If you would try and be open to the prospect maybe you’d realize this instead of hiding behind anxiety which a lot of players suffer from and still manage to do it.

This is speaking from someone who suffers from it themselves.

This will sound “rude” but in reality you can’t go around play an MMO and then hide behind anxiety when you are asked to do the slightest bit of interaction which doesn’t even involve any interaction besides clicking a button and following 4 others for 20 minutes

I have no problem with dungeons and I’d never stop people doing them who enjoy them as they’re an integral part of the game for most people. I was just agreeing with the OP that it’s sad that story progression in a quest chain is blocked by one, such as happened with the Kyrian quest chain in SL.
I have tried in the past and had to leave because of it. I prefer to do the dungeons later when I can solo them which is what I’ll have to do that.
I have no problem with unrated battlegrounds or raid sized groups to kill rares. It’s just dungeons. Don’t ask me why … that’s just how it is.
