Sometimes I feel like I’m alone in enjoying the actual game itself.
Is all there is the chase of a reward? Isn’t the journey worth playing for in of itself?
When I have my sights on a reward, I enjoy my time getting that reward as well. And I find it hard to relate to this idea that without it there’s nothing else worth to pursue.
Player Housing, in my opinion, introduces another facet of enjoyment.
Fun.
A reason to smile, a reason to laugh, a reason to be proud, a reason to share.
Traditionally, MMORPGs have often provided the ability to customize and fit your own space; share it with the people around you, be creative, display your trophies or armor. In so far as we’ve seen, they seem intent of providing some kind of social component in that residents of Neighborhoods pitch into these Endeavors akin to World Events.
Now, for anyone saying they don’t care about that—I hear that. Not everyone will.
But this is arguably a feature that is introduced, as some have mentioned, simply for fun.
Jokes aside, I think you nailed the point. It is so unusual and rare to do things just for pure fun that I have the feeling most people forgot what it means. But it really is the point of not only this feature, but of video games as a whole if you ask me.
I would look at other games. My experience with housing is from ffxiv. Do you realize the THINGS people do with housing there? If we exclude the … adult content, there are stuff like night clubs with DJ that play songs with their music system. Just an example.
Not sure if wow players are into that sort of thing and for sure no idea what wow players will eventually do with the housing system, but there is potential. There is a point to it.
Im pretty sure blizz will eventually sell you the option for €€€€ to have a AH in there, but I feel that might come later in expansion or in the next ones even. That sort of stuff comes after shop housing parts no longer make all the money blizz wants to see.
Nah, it’s just the sweatlords that lost the concept of “having fun” in a game, and their sole interest is their competitive content. Anything that doens’t contribute to their competitveness isn’t considered fun and a waste of time.
It’s almost as if people forgot they’re playing a videogame.
Im sorry Keento… what kind of over-generalization is this?
I play competitively. I try to push Rio as far as possible. And I agree with Sahaan. The journey is much more fun than the reward itself. And more people should stop saying things like “M+ above a 10 gives no reward so there is no point”. Well there IS… FUN is your reward… A sense of achievement is your reward…
FFS this is a game. Why the hell are we doing this for? To collect pixel ponies or something?
It has been the competition that Made videogames popular starting from the 80s, in my childhood my biggest goal was to beat my sad at tekken 3 because he is a heihachi one trick pony
