Are you comparing wow to some mobile game here? Seems again far fetched.
There have been times when it become comparable to mobile games
I dont live in s h i t h o l e country unlike you.
Its pay to play, if you pay more then good on you. But realistically you can get boosted in any game anyway including things like hearthstone and league of legends, so whats your point? people will know you’re boosted if you rocked around with your first ever glad title and played like a utter chimp.
Imagine paying all that money for something thats not real, better yet its made redunant the next patch or expansion later.
Its not shame on blizzard or the people providing the service its shame on the idiots that provide the market for it.
Wow is quite different from asian f2p crap you most likely spend your time playing. There gear means everything because skill cap is nonexistant. In wow case win is rio/logs/rate. You can’t buy skills required to get win level of that, only improve yourself.
That is not pay to win, you are not buying anything that increases your power in game, and can only obtained through that method.
Enjoy spending money I guess. If people are dumb enough to blow 200€ on having empty achievements and gear I’m ok with that.
In general a game is considered pay-to-win when a player can gain any gameplay advantage over his non-paying peers
Considering gameplay in wow is made up of two parts - raw gear and skill then WoW has been pay to win since Chinese Gold farmers where around (I.e Vanilla)
Winning has had a subtle change as well in the sense that real achievement and recognition in wow is not via gear but rather by your performance in content.
I.e high level mythic + players with 3k RIO, mythic level raiders in top 100 guilds, or mythic players who hold top logs on Non-cheese encounters finally we have PvP where rating or arena websites keep track of people to follow.
Nobody really cares about a 450 Item level insert class here who cant deal more than a 50th percentile parse in raid (even lower for his/her item level) or wins 1 in 10 arena games.
This situation has been around since vanilla, boosting was a thing even back then the transaction for raw gold was just off blizzards plate and in the backyard of gold farmers or even worse account hackers selling hacked assets to move gold.
IF people have disposable income I don’t see the difference to lining blizzards pocket or a gold farmer/hacker.
As people have pointed out those who rely on this usually do it patch after patch for gear they replace anyhow without actually ever achieving anything of note (apart from staying relevant with Ilevel and perceived power)
Enjoy the game - better yourself, fine true fulfilment in playing your class at a high level in your field of choice (PvE / PvP / RP / Collecting / gold farming).
Paying for gear in wow does not give you advantage over those, who do not pay and do same content.
In actual pay-to-win scenarios you can buy gear/items that give you advantage in game over those, who do not pay and do same content.
On the contrary - EVERYone knows what p2w is.
It’s just that nobody agrees with anyone else.
You know that p2w means that u only get the bis and strongest items thought real money, and by only that way. You can get all the stuff for “free” by playing the game itself. For example, if wow shop sell i lvl 500 items and u can get only 460 from raids and ect, i would call it p2w.
And even if you get 450 gear on your example, you cant buy the skill, lower geared and skilled players can wash the floor with you ezmode.
Soo… If WoW Shop will start selling full 460 sets then it will be ok?
Slap a cool transmog on it and sell for 25$ Blizz
If 460 is the strongest gear and you can only get it from the shop, then yes it would be. The numbers were just examples…
Ever since wow tokens were introduced, the game has become pay to win tbh. Even though I’m buying my game time with gold, I admit that the tokens are really bad for the game overall. Due to boosted runs, players are less likely to play with a stranger just for fun. If you are not performing as good as other people, you will be kicked or not invited in the first place. Because why would anyone invite an inferior player while others will get paid in gold, therefore blizzard balance, to do so?
Good thing there are communities and guilds to join then that dont look at your rio score or curve progress
That’s true. Sucks to be me tho xD
Pugging is harder than ever, so a guild is a must nowadays.
Have u looked into any communities that does the content u’re aiming for?
I’m sure there are many. It’s just that I don’t want other people to expect me to show up. I prefer to play like a mercenary. Find a group, do the content and get the hell out. Tokens are making this way of playing impossible tho.
What content are u into then? Raids or m+? Both?
