Did Blizz forget gems exists?

they should add gems for all gear slots tbh.

Those won’t work in the new patch outside of 9.1 related stuff. There are no new gems/sockets for the new patch.

We do. Regular sockets can spawn on items as before just like leech and Co. Domination sockets are not obtainable and the shard set bonus doesn’t work in ZM or Sotfo.
Given a new socket item isn’t in the database you won’t get one in zereth mortis as the release candidate is already selected. As such it’s entirely off chance as the season 2 sockets won’t work with a 99.99% chance.
Regardless if you’re a JC and want to make money then the sockets not existing won’t change much since whatever you earn from that is less than a raid nights worth of repair even if guild repair is added.
ATM you can buy additional sockets for normal gems and add them to your equipment from Roh-Suir
These won’t work on gear from season 3 as far as I know though. Both PVP and PVE.
So yeah, gear can proc sockets, but the item that can grant you a socket like the one from Archivist did, wasn’t datamined.
I personally don’t give 2 cents about it though. This system of ‘socket proccing’ should be scrapped anyways. Gear should be the same as it was in MOP, meaning almost all items had atleast 1 socket, up to even 3 for some items. For me, it was such a satisfaction to gem my new shiny gear pieces, and enchant them.
Right now you just equip something, gg.

They might introduce something like this for Season 3 and new gear…probably in 9.2.5 when characters start to get more over-powered between expansion breaks.
Change profession. I swapped my JC back in 9.0 - it’d been a jewelcrafter since TBC.
So far, I have not created a replacement, despite having plenty of alts for the task. There just isn’t a good reason.
(Even if there are earned sockets, they’re in such little quantity that there isn’t any real business for JCs anyway.)

16 secondary stat is nothing, 40 DPS at most while you can do ~11k even this patch.
At least vantus runes are used on a weekly basis by most raiders and respec tomes sell decently well.
