The Hall of Fame for Sanctum of Domination will be closing at the end of the current reset (August 17th for NA and August 18th for EU) for the Horde faction with 100 Horde Guilds defeating Mythic Sylvanas Windrunner. For the rest of this lockout, Horde guilds will still be able to obtain Hall of Fame: Sylvanas (Horde). After this lockout, the achievement will only be available for Alliance guilds, with only 12 slots claimed.
Only a dozen packs of lions got their revenge on the Banshee?
Blizzard really should read the big flashing neon sign that the Alliance in end game is not very viable atm.
Too many Ex allies has went horde since forever ago, the only ones left of alliance are the bad ones. Thats why you never see a dozen alliance guilds anymore able to compete equally with Horde in HoF for current content raid at the time.
according to wowprogress, top 500 there aint even 100 alliance there hehe, top 100 I think it was 11 alliance rofl.
Raider IO is generally more reliable than wowprogress these days
Yeah this has been going on for years.
Mythic raiding on alliance is still viable though, but I gotta admit that it already being small and now this whole mass exodus thing, it’s now very hard.
When I joined this realm we were one of the top 20 guilds, and now we’re top 3, and that’s far from just because we got better. One of the guilds above us is dying, and we got merged with two other realms, neither of which had any mythic raiding activity on alliance side.
The whole thing is pretty bad, but it is playable.
The same thing happened during Horde PvP in WoD where Horde at 1 minute queue times while the Alliance had to wait 20 to 30 mins for a battleground. Blizzard should perhaps actually make aesthetic races instead of diaper gnomes and fat humans with actual good racials to use.
Literally no one wants to play as something ugly and undesirable.
As a very long standing CE Alliance guild I can tell you that recruiting raiders is extremely difficult. It took our recruiting officer 3-4 weeks to find a mage of all classes. One of the most common played classes. God forbid if you are looking for a healer. Tanks are more rare than pink unicorns. And the situation is getting worse with every patch as people quit (inevitably) or transfer to Horde where everything is easier (not to mention cheaper). From raiding to mythic + it’s so much easier to find a group/guild in Horde side simply because the population gap is enormous.
In my opinion the only “fix” that could work at the moment is Blizzard taking advantage the interest people show in the WF Race, streamers and MDI by tuning the alliance racials to be stronger in PvE scenarios, hence “forcing” the top players/streamers to swap to alliance and hopefully bringing a good amount of their fan base with them.
Now before people jump on my throat for that suggestion, I do not find my idea optimal but in the current state it is the only idea I can think of.
P.s. all the above comments refer to mythic raiding, key pushing and End Game in general. For alts, world quests etc alliance is just fine as faction doesn’t really matter and becomes more of a cosmetic/RP thing.
Edit:typos
I agree but if you up the alliance you will eventually end up with the same issue, where everyone switches back to the alliance and the horde is empty. I think its time for cross faction play. There simply is not enough players to have an healthy equal playing population for each faction.
Does that mean horde can x-realm it now and alliance can’t?
(Don’t answer, I know, I know)

Fair point but this would take years to happen. Long standing horde guilds, guilds on Hall of fame and long time horde players will not immediately swap, if not at all, just to benefit from the 0.5% a WF guild would maybe look for. So I doubt we will end up with the same issue on opposite side.
There simply is not enough players
That’s the big Blizzard bet imho. To bring people. So far I would say their effort is lacking the results.

I’m afraid it would result in the complete death of alliance as many people would swap horde if they could still raid with their alliance guilds. I know I would probably go blood elf.

Which could’ve been alleviated if they allowed alliance racials to cheat mythic mechanics the last 2 tiers just like how they allowed goblins & trolls in the past.
The faction war stuff is way past stale. Other games have moved past or mostly set it aside.
Allowing them to have more fun PVP modes, better ease of access to guilds, raids, and so on. And more importantly: Better story narrative.
That doesn’t even make sense… Some of the first you learn during game design is that players will most often flock to human-looking races, no matter what genre or average age of player base.
There is a reason that Blood Elfs are videly dominant on Horde side, it’s because they are the most human looking ones.
If you gave everyone a free race-reroll and they abolished factions, the alliance would dwarf (heh) the horde in numbers

That wouldnt have done much. And that cheating you talk about was for KJ on Mythic. A boss not even a fraction of the playerbase ever saw in the first place on said difficulty. Same with Trolls for Jaina (and that was not needed at all).
At this point even if they had done so during Nathria and Sanctum this wouldnt have caused the playerbase to abandon the horde and join a Faction that is practically dead pug wise compared to the Faction where the vast vast vast majority plays on every single day. The top guilds would have swapped for the race and then swapped back straight after like Limit did for BoDA.
Limit did it because of Darkshore Loot but even if there was a race advantage for the entire tier they would have switched back afterwards or mid tier dependent on where the race advantage boss is in the progress and how long the tier survives. Split runs with the community is also important so going Alliance could screw a top guild over heavily on another level or slow them down significantly.
Also theres the thing that we know that heavily buffing Racials so they become “op” of the opposite faction is going to backfire because the current numbers are a result of exactly that given Alliance was once the vastly dominating faction in the game.

I’ll just point out the problem started in Throne of Thunder and leave it here.
It’s funny how in pvp, where factions should really matter and where faction pride should be at its peak the game is fully free for all, alliance vs alliance, horde vs alliance, horde vs horde. However in pve, where we have come together to vanquish evil since vanilla it’s like nope, gotta have those separate factions because it’s like core of the game and really defines what world of warcraft is really about.

Alliance was dominating for quite some while even after ToT. It began when Blizzard hard nerfed racials such as the human one (especially from a PvP perspective).
Followed by people following their idols because those 1% performance buffs overall will surely make a difference for them too and they “need to have them” or that rocket jump to defeat mythic KJ because they would surely ever reach him. I mean there is even a Guild on Draenor (US) that got realm first KJ 3 years AFTER his release and i bet that even on that realm there were people going “imma need that rocket jump”. Just like now with people thought they needed it for Painsmith.
A friend looked into the divide and tweeted about it:-
Cross Faction is the solution, not trying to get a 50/50 split.
