My account is not yet 30 days old and to my surprise the restrictions where lifted on SOD… Let us see if it stays that way
not fixed for me, still restricted
I have been following this thread closely, as I too cannot play the game anymore because of these restrictions. I rejoined wow classic after, what? 15 years? and was actually enjoying myself. But then this happened, and I am pissed off. First, support just closes my tickets with utter bull, not helping me at all. Second, days later I read that this is not a bug, but a feature. Well Blizzard, this is unacceptable. The way you have treated me is unacceptable. I am not a bot, I am a player. If I pay money to play this game, I want the same rights as others playing this game. You literally changed the terms weeks after I signed my name and bought game time. If you do not fix this, you will lose me as a customer, and I am pretty sure the friends who joined me to relive wow classic will follow.
I couldn’t agree more with Chopachop. I’m in the same situation and this is exactly how I feel as well.
From lv 1 till 50 i could trade, sell and mail. and then i hit 50 and 2 days later i was restricted ??? WTf it doesnt make sense
a
This is an experimental change to combat botters, for the developer response please take a look there.
GREAT idea but what if suddenly, well i don’t know, a NEW PLAYER wants to play or a person with a NEW account? This is not expected situation anymore? Is Blizzard creating a ghetto?? They actually purchase a trial version for a month of subscription for the same money! Leveling up with white items, inability to turn in reputation boxes, get into raids without alchemy. I think this is the right way to increase the number of new players, “these newbies don’t deserve our game” @ Blizzard
at least blizzard have to inform new players about this new rules, or , you have to make this first month for free cause it totaly trial version. But you keeping this in secret . Its criminal.
yea this is crazy. i’m a week into my new sub and this function has been part of my game experience since i purchased it.
there’s still no offical announcement of this anywhere i can see, only on forums. it’s ridiculous that this information isn’t widely available.
Companies pay money to involve their customers in surveys to get feedback and make their products better, while blizzard is ignoring all free feedbacks they gather here.
As recent posts have mentioned, the timeline for me has been:
- Account open for 8 days and AH, mail, trade working fine
- Try to use AH and get generic message “This action is restricted” – no detail as to why
- Raise message with Blizzard support who tell me to log out for “12 hours but up to a full day”
- Radio silence for another 2 days
- I find a forum post from devs who say this is a new intentional restriction and impacts all accounts – initially says it’s just for SoD, despite many users reporting issues on Era and Hardcore
- 7 days have passed now and the only response is to wait another 15 days until my account reaches 30 days of activity.
How is this fair? In the 15 days now since my account opened I have reached 50 and have a ton of things I cannot do such as:
- Get 2 runes: (I cannot buy mining and engineering materials to complete them)
- Salvaging the Schematic quest for Gnomeregan head piece – (again, can’t get materials from professions I don’t have – Mithril Bar) even if I could do this, I cannot buy materials to craft it anyway
- Buy consumables and items I need to try ST
- Levelling my profession (Tailoring) is nearly impossible because I need to manually collect every type of cloth etc to do it
It’s also massively awkward and embarrasing to explain to people (especially my new guild) why you can’t trade them. I can’t even give people a health stone, so they just think I am either really dodgy or know I am a noob. People have even said I must be restricted for being abusive or something.
It seems crazy that my account was once functioning fine but then silently restricted for a long time, before the reason was eventually explained.
Is there at least a method to get accounts checked manually to unlock legit players who are blocked now? If I can get a GM to look into my account/activity, or prove some other way I am not engaged in RMT/botting/whatever else it is this is supposed to fix, that would be great.
Other people can send you stuff, though I haven’t tested this.
If Blizzard did this then Bots would find a way to use it to get their accounts unblocked.
It seems that Blizzard’s only reply is just to wait for 30 days, that’s a long time in gaming, usually I’ve finished most single player games in this timescale.
There does need to be a way for legitimate players to remove this but every way I think of can be used by the bots too. From fake IDs to authenticators and IP/MAC address banning, nothing won’t catch innocent players as well.
Yryadorne or anyone… can you please do all of us a favour and insist on giving new players a chance to still trade and use the auction house…
Somehow this needs to be achieved Im begging you and telling you the game is unplayable… Ive got to lv 50 in 2 weeks of playtime and since I’m playing wow for the first time in my life it honestly is not a good experience for me…
Punishing new players for not having the bot problem under control is just pure ignorance and can not be the solution for the problem. Instead of explaining things I wish that we could do more actions and trying to resolve this somehow since u see noone on this board is willing to approve the decisions made by blizzard. please have some decency and lets find a fair solution for new players.
Also I can not reply to the SOD Discussions in the US forum cause I dont have a lv 10 character in the US… Like great company ngl. Ive complained about Riot Games for years but what the hell is going on here???
I have heard that people can send me stuff too. I haven’t tried yet but this was mainly because I was hoping this would end up being a mistake and the restrictions lifted. I could deal with a few days, but not what will be almost 3 weeks. So I’ll have to do this (beg some friends) now, but thank you, at least there’s some way.
Yeah I’ve been playing a lot and learning/getting through content quickly. But it’s getting really annoying to keep hitting quests and things that I just can’t do because I don’t have a profession or can’t buy something from AH to do it. It’s getting to the point where I will play a lot less or come back after the 30 days have passed
If it’s on the character you are posting on I can send a test mail.
I’ve done it anyway and didn’t get a message saying I can’t.
Thank you! Yes it’s this character, I am online if you wanted to check with a message. I can add you and let you know if the mail comes (and if I can take the item/contents). Appreciate your help
Just post here if it works.
Thats for retail wow though, nothing of classic is free at all…
Can confirm – mail received successfully
These restrictions are the same as if you went on vacation to the ocean but don’t have access to water. How does limiting new characters help fight against bots? I want to level my professions but I just don’t have enough space in bags. why should I throw away or sell for copper the things I spent time on. this is unfair to new players. You need to monitor places where bots freely farm gold and check mail with a lot of gold , check auction house with suspicious lots .
New players don’t have gold to sell. it’s just a bunch of poor men who sell green item to a vendor to get their class talents. You are fighting bots but doing it completely wrong
