Bot company make tens of thousands dollars a month, they just make new accounts now and in 30 days they start botting on full power again.
it’s not a solution at all.
Then Blizzard should simply extend the time of the resitriction for at least several months.
Easy solution!
??? how do you think legitimate players like me can earn gold then ? what the hell are you talking about dude.
I think that’s called a joke, even if you don’t understand them you should of heard of them.
No words can express how much I am disappointed as a new player.
Been playing a week, discovered that classic WoW feels better. The game is brutally hard at the beginning, but eventually I realized there is an auction thing where I can finally buy more that 2 potions and sell some ore for gold. And guess what error I’ve got.
- Logging out for 12+ hours didn’t help.
- Support hasn’t answered through whole weekend.
- Support bot accused me for violating rules, without even telling which one exactly.
Nice welcoming, Blizzard. I hoped for a long-term play, was even thinking to bring wife into the game, but what should I tell her? That we will be some sort of second-class players?
And it hurts me to see there are still lots of bots running around. Mages with names like “jjweqfnwfew”, right?
I went to ST last night, it was so awkward when people asked for healthstones that I couldn’t give any. Wish I could post a screenshot, horrible and awkward experience. I am sure people think I’m some kind of cheat who got banned
i know the feeling, cant even trade a bloody healthstone. Criminal warlock indeed.
First of, yesterday when i logged off i wasn’t affected by the new restrictions. Playing since 13th of August 2006 with only a large break at the end of WoD until late Legion. (i’m sorry for the long post)
Blizzard treats EULA/TOS as a contract so from here on i will be talking about EULA/TOS as “contract”.
Blizzard’s contract is never above a law, so also not above the EU-law. (i don’t care how contracts are regulated in the US atm, this is EU and other countries not being the US)
When any change, so not only the drastic (draconian) ones in a contract is going to happen, companies have to inform their customers about said change an amount of time up front of when that change is going to happen (f/i today 15th of april 2024 we announce this and that is going to change in our contract with you on the 1st of may 2024)
Reading all of the AH/Mail/Trade restriction complaints, the above has not happened, in fact a blue post on the US forums admits that it was a stealth change.
EU Laws protect customer rights more than Blizzard realizes and some one or more with too much money on their hand is going to see if battling Blizzard’s latest draconian changes can be reverted by law.
The way Blizzard has customers accepting their contract is a “knife on the neck” type of enforcing their contract onto customers which also has been covered in EU-laws: I will quote here from https://www.eccnederland.nl/en/consumer-rights/buying-in-the-eu/distance-selling-regulations
Distance Selling Regulations
Have you bought a product or service online or by telephone from a company established in the EU, Norway or Iceland? Then you can rely on a 14-day cooling-off period in most cases. During this withdrawal period, you have the right to terminate your purchase without providing any reason (cancellation). Furthermore, the seller has an obligation to provide you with full information before the transaction of the online purchase regarding price, payment, delivery and fulfilment of the purchase contract. These rules are set out in the Distance Selling Act.
The European Consumer Centre provides legal advice free of charge regarding ‘distance contracts’ and can mediate in disputes if you cannot come to a satisfactory agreement with the company. Our website offers information, tips and template letters to help you take steps.
(what the quote doesn’t say that a full refund should be in place in case of a cancellation of a purchase)
Blizzard’s newest changes are so draconian, they not only affect the new players, they affect general economy in game per server/faction, and with that they affect the longer term players aswell because of items not being made available through trade chat and the AH.
For all players but in particular the new players their new set of rules in their contract is so drastic that it’s ruining the gameplay experience, everyone gets impacted but mostly the new players. It says in their own contract that any ruination of gameplay is under no circumstance acceptable but they seem to have reserved the right to themselves to ruin everyone’s gaming experience it seems. Blizzard is in fact making new players in particular paying the full price for battling bots which imo can never be acceptable. Bots are annoying to players but mosty are the problem of Blizzard themselves, how they battle bots is their problem, not ours. That we help them address bots through reports is something they should be happy about and is in no way their right to have us do that.
I feel very very sorry for you new players that this case of insane restrictions for 30 days (!!!) is happening to you and if this would happen to me, i would cancel anything Blizzard related immediately.
great way to explain the truth, thank you!
i get to angry to ever be able to get that all down in text, but its the truth and the fact of EU. They silenced me here so hope your post is worthy of a blue answer atleast.
So, trial residents of the ghetto, how is it? Me, for example, found out that vendors sells green gear, I grabbed an excellent 23 lvl sword, although I’m 30, but that’s okay. I wanted to write a ticket so that the great Blizzard would take pity and allow me to buy a weapon for leveling up at AH, but I thought that they would ban me altogether. These are the times for new players…
The argument from Blizzard would be that people are paying for modern warcraft, and any Era, Classic, Season etc is a free addon.
To me it seems a bit like saying when you buy a car, that you pay for the engine, wheels and gearbox - the rest is a free addon. Bit deceptive to say the least.
But what do I know - not a lawyer.
yeah it’s semantics, these new ppl paid to play SoD or Era, not retail so Blizzard can play word games but they’ll lose that argument at any time.
I’ve made a few posts in this thread now but this will likely be my last. The account restrictions are too much and it’s too crippling to be locked out of so many things. I have 12 more days until my restrictions should be lifted and I don’t want to continue playing like this. I’ve listed in earlier posts the things I can’t do at the moment and I keep finding more. Thankfully, I have a holiday coming up next week so don’t plan to play until after that now. I guess I’ll try again in a couple weeks. By the way, I am still confused about why this is even happening, I see bots everywhere I go. If this is supposed to fix them, then I don’t think it is.
Hope this gets resolved for everyone else in the meantime. It’s just really bad.
A reminder: MVP’s do not have moderation powers, if you harass other forum posters you may get silenced.
Your previous offensive posts were either self-deleted or moderated, distorting the truth is not possible as you’ve already admitted to your silence penalty I quoted here and even in your last post you claim to be “targeting me in any post”, contradicting yourself in the same sentence that you did not harass me.
Let’s keep it on topic: About the SOD Restrictions
Constructive feedback about the recent social features against botters is welcome in this topic. Nobody gets “silenced” for posting any constructive feedback whether positive or negative. Let’s keep it civil without personal attacks.
Why is nothing happening? The feedback is clear. New players can´t play the game. Give them a chance to verify to get rid of the restrictions and everything is fine.
Verification would be the dream solution (outside of removing restrictions altogether). Failing that here are some suggestions for improvements, which would really help a lot with my biggest issues:
- Allow players to trade conjured items (health stones, mage water, etc.)
- Allow players to trade using the “can’t trade” slot (enchanting, lock boxes, etc.)
- Allow players to mail within their account to their other characters (send items/gold to alts – I’d like to make a new alt but don’t want to start from scratch all over again)
This still doesn’t fix the massive issue of not being able to buy on AH – but it’d be a start. And I don’t see how these would impact the apparent bot problem.
this, please…
THIS IS RIDICULOUS. ARE U GUYS INSANE???
My new player friend already hates that this is like the only game in the world that requires a sub and he also has to play a DEMO?
BRO just keep bots keep inflation I DONT CARE.
where did i harass you? you were the only one i targeted in any post xD
But hey whatever floats your boat. I keep playing paid trial version and stay quiet.
Got another response from the support. Same automatic message:
>>This action has been taken in accordance with our Terms of Use…
I didn’t have a chance to trade anything and barely communicated with other players, so I don’t think I broke any rules. At least not intentional. Plus auctioning in retail game is fine.
The whole situation is just beyond good and evil:
-
If I actually did something wrong I need to know what exactly. And if so, what happens to my character or account?
-
If it’s not my fault, and it is a restriction applied to all new players I still want it to be clarified
