For example in another F2P game Valorant & League this is explained in more detail why it is so difficult:
The botting problem is prevalant in all games/MMO’s, not just WoW. If there was a solution there would be one by now.
An ex-dev that worked at Blizz:
You may suggest any methods you may think of through the ingame feedback box but it is not likely that it will be groundbreaking new suggestion.
Source.
GM’s can hide their presence, typically they do not reveal themselves ingame anymore.
It’s repeated elsewhere in the thread by me and some others but this is the current restriction.
All new (and returning) accounts must have paid for and consumed 30 full days gametime since 2017 on their account. WoW tokens does not count. If this time has passed, stay logged out for 12+ hours.
This restriction is for Classic Era and SOD realms.
Checking your post history, you only said you logged out for 12+ hours but not whether if you’ve had added paid gametime with real money or with wow tokens or another way.

Reading it again out loud through Saneko’s post helps highlight how ridiculous this initiative is. It’s basically a public declaration that the objective of bringing new players to WoW is gone and the main objective is to make the place as good as it can be for it’s now limited player base.
Anyone who has worked in any product or development environment must know that this is a certain path to death. It’s really simple: if you make growth and acquisition of your product difficult and full of friction, it stagnates and eventually disappears entirely.
Cutting off your nose to spite your face.

My first 30 days subscription on this EU account came from the all-in purchase of the War Within Epic edition.
Not to mention having to abandon my existing 18 year old North American account along with all its assets (both in-game and shop) to enjoy the game on the other side of the pond… only to be hit with restrictions because you don’t have a verification system in place?
If a player begins their EU account with a €90 investment… and a 2nd account attached to the same BNET worth thousands of hours of play time…
How much more validation does Blizzard need that they’re not a bot?
Moved to Europe about 2 years ago - finally gave up waiting for Blizzard to amalgamate in-game assets between NA and EU and took the leap, thereby abandoning my 18 year old NA account.
Picked up The War Within - Epic Edition for 90 Euros, figured I’d play SOD until Pandaria Remix came out. I make my new character and off to the leveling races I go. Trying to be nice/make new friends, I tried to trade someone I saw mining a few extra copper I had in my bags.
Action restricted… what?
Here I am in the forums in disbelief that Blizzard would put in jeopardy the experience of new/returning players by taking away a MASSIVE element of the game otherwise creating a huge deficit in the experience.
How about using the retail game version I have as validation? I doubt a bot would have the War Within Epic edition?
Blizzard, think about this. You’re arbitrarily taking the money of hopeful new SOD players and withholding a major element of the game until another month is paid. This is very bad.
By those standards, I’d be leasing a vehicle and the dealership withholds my ability to turn the radio on and enjoy my drive until my 2nd lease payment. Sure the radio’s not a fundamental function of the car, but such a feature is expected to be included in the price I pay??
Not to mention withholding that information from the lease agreement??
You’ve got this 100% leveling bonus xp incentive from 1-40 and 50% from 40 - 50 and when these players are level 50 in 2 days, how are they supposed to get raid ready with consumables?
I’ve got a ticket submitted - I gave you 90 Euros for The War Within ontop of the thousands I’ve spent on my NA account over 18 years.
Please give me the benefit of the doubt I’m not a bot and let me use the AH and please help these other people who are speaking out in the forums.
Case by case basis. You owe it to your community.

Please don’t give them ideas.

As facetious as this comment is, you might have a point. I ought to use more discretion these days.
Well I guess by now everyone is aware of the 30 day restriction in Classic and SoD.
In my case, I decided to return to WoW after hearing my friends all talk about SoD. I stopped playing WoW some 14 years ago and that account to day is unfortunately hacked and gone… It would not have made any difference in my situation tho since this 30 day restriction does not only apply to NEW accounts but also to returning accounts that have not bought and spent 30 days of gametime after 2017.
While the battlenet account in which I now return to WoW on now is not new, playing WoW on it is new.
Nowhere at all did they inform me upon purchasing gametime that I would not have full access to the game.
In fact, I bought my subscription on 28th of march and could for the first whole week use every now affected feature of the game.
That means that Blizzard, withouth any notice upon purchase AND no information until days after they implemented the change RETROACTIVE aswell gave any information.
So… Blizzard steals 1 month subscription from players leaving them with basically a DEMO of the game.
This right here, I’m 99% certain it can not be legal.
So, thats why I’m turning to this forum, to rally up people and file some kind of class action law suit to the european court.
I fought many fights in WoW, now it’s time to fight IRL. Who’s with me?
You accept the Terms and conditions by playing the game and I’m pretty sure it got everything’s covered.
Also isn’t the restriction only about trading /ah/mails? Is it that important to you that it makes the game unplayable ?

Good luck with that, please stream the entire thing for us all to watch whilst we wait for queues to pop

Yeah good luck with that. We’ll be over here actually playing the game without making a fuss over petty details like that.
i have just now ordered 1 ton of popcorn to follow this intersting topic.

You want to sue them…for what exactly?
Are you 1% willing to risk a lot of money in attorney fees, and probably a ton of time, because you’re unhappy with something (very minor) in a video game? Especially if, at most, you could get €13 back?

Stealing money? They sell you a product only to after your purchased it make it useless withouth any notice.

The european union Representative Actions Directive looks promising for this. It means that you can fight big muscles withouth having to put up your own money.
Via EC-REACT member countires can seek money for legal costs etc needed for the battle.
I won’t just sit quiet and let them do whatever they want to costumers.
