Another statement towards the devs of SoD at what I feel is a huge mistake in their choice to wait for lvl 60 with balancing.
While the damage and healing modifiers are an “ok” fix for keeping PvP and PvE balance apart, they fail to address the overarching Problem of differences between Horde and Alliance.
Racials and Paladin/Shaman
My “main” for SoD was Paladin. I have now finished leveling and playing a Shaman and the difference is almost comical.
As Paladin Rank7, fully geared and enchanted I feel like I’m the worst PvP player around, constantly losing Bgs (the main focus of PvP content) simply having a bad time in General - tho 1v1 in open world settings (which happen rarely) are fine imho.
On the flip side my elemental shaman came out of incursions with the emerald set, using a lvl 12 hammer and 30 shield. I constantly see how much the Alliance players struggle against this oppressive toolkit. I’m not a good player by any means, which is my point: balancing should be done assuming an average skill level, which has drastically increased over the past iterations of WoW. People now know how to utilize most spells in a PvP context, meaning that the more good tools a class has, the more it will shine in PvP - the Paladin has historically been the most “one button class” in WoW with Bubble being their pivotal spell - to the detriment of everyone.
My suggestion would be to disable bubble entirely in any PvP context and finally bring the Paladin up to par with other classes.
A major issue is that Paladins are and should be a melee class entirely, but this is handled like people are oblivious to interrupts, CC, kiting etc.
While warriors are bringing MS to a fight for a bit of a game changer, Paladins bring nothing but their burst, which will never be a “balanced” mechanic, since either their burst will be not enough to matter or completely break the enemy Frontline.
Another issue is how blatantly unfair the devs gave shamans a better version of hand of freedom, while the Paladins version of Tremor totem doesn’t even affect himself (tested multiple times - it does not work on the Paladin himself)
This sort of favouritism doesn’t help at all
My biggest fear is that in order for the dwindling Alliance PvP players to come back in P4 the devs will have to overtune both Alliance Racials and Paladin PvP
i will tell you something sad. Yesterday a group of 4 horde players were ganking the entrance Duskwood–STV. i brough a friend of mine and tried to invite the guys that were constantly dying under the pressure of solid CC and AOE and once they accepted my invititaion i was told ‘’ Sorry we dont want to pvp " and /leave the party so i kept pvping in group of 2 . Horde are righ, ally side are pussies and it’s not a racial problem, not at all
I don’t think there is an inherent inability for Alliance players to PvP, I’ve seen and talked to Alliance PvP players - the issue at large is that there is no reason to walk the hard path and that again is my point: Blizzard should want to have 50:50 faction balance in all content, but no one WANTS to play Alliance in PvP, therefore they need to give Alliance something that pulls people into this faction, simple as.
They did that back in TBC by adding Blood Elfs to horde, because Asians didn’t want to play Horde.
Now we need to fix the Alliance PvP willingness, before it’s completely broken beyond repair
Just stop the crying on forums try to get Paladins buffed. Its a wheelchair class and should NOT get buffed, more NERFED. “ITS LONG CD” says every bubbleboy and wins any 1v1 or 1v2… Lay on Hands even c’mon! Yesterday a GREY parsing Prot paladin killed my hunter, drained him to 0 mana and kited him, but he hit my pet once and casted EXCORSISM from 30yrange and repeat until i died, THE ONLY ability he had to use along with Bubble and Lay on hands. Paladins has become a caster class with plate. Just l2p. And remove paladins bubble or make them do 0dmg while bubbled. THX
About racial, give horde Perception/Stoneform and we good. Or just let it be as its been for the last 20y and focus on something other than pressing bubble to “win”. Stop trolling mr Paladin.
Had you actually read my posts you’d have read that I want bubble to be removed for starters, and I personally dislike the focus on exorcism as our main spell, but it’s the only tool that currently works well.
Seals being purge-able is horrific game design, imagine if shaman weapon enchants were purge-able.
Btw I’m not crying to buff “my class” I play shaman aswell, it’s just no fun to me to bully Paladins with no repercussions. A game isn’t fun when you cannot lose, and quite frankly Horde in this phase cannot lose
Not gonna help tbh, ret paladins lack mobility, which every other melee has btw.
Sure slows/roots dont help much against a paladin, but that is a thing easily solved by gnome racial, trinket, imp sprint, fap and etc.
Shamans got better things compared to a paladin,
freedom totem that doesn’t remove the buff after the totem dies
Instant MSW heals on Healing Wave,
damage reduction,
slows,
grounding, tremor etc.
A bubble quite doesn’t match that, a bubble won’t magically allow you to run faster, you move at the same 108% speed as everyone else that actually got the minor speed enchant.
By that logic enhance should also be entirely melee, but they got spammable shocks from 20ys on a 6s CD. Which is just straight up better compared to 2 CCs on 1min CDs EACH.
BoF, BoP, Pally Buffs…
The solution is actually quite simple: Meta PvP classes/races should be nerfed.
Rogues, Priests, Boomies, Shamans should be eating many nerfs.
Hardiness/WoTF increased CD/reduced % respectively.
The people who keep making these balance “request” posts really need to acknowledge that they are affectively playing a PTR. SoD is…a PTR.
New abilities and content needs testing for classic+, they gave you a “season” with gated content and brackets which allows them to collect data. It was the same with original WoW…25 cap, 40 cap etc. There’s a reason SoD itself had no PTR/Beta and was announced 30 days out at blizzcon…it is a PTR.
Don’t be emotionally invested in test environments.
I understand that it’s a PTR that’s why I hope they read this and actually do something about it in the “final product”
I forgot about Paladin buffs because of how little they impact versus a team that brings purge spam to the table. It’s gotten so bad that I don’t buff myself up anymore, because why even bother when they get removed instantly from 30y away
I guess I need to vent a little aswell, but reading about people actually defending this makes me a bit sad/mad
Weird how you view Paladin as a strong pvp class. Easy the worst class for bgs. Who care if you are bis in 1vs1 when you are dogpoo in group fights. But shaman are good 1vs1 and top with hunters in group pvp. And racials makes it even harder for Alliance. If you join into AB with too many Paladins you lose, too many shamans you lose as alliance.
Just check score on Paladins next AB you in.
So many problems with shamans
perfect kite class
best burst in-game, you can’t heal someone who get bursted by
shaman.
best healing for not going healer
close to same lvl as feralbear with Frenzied Regeneration up in survival
-two school of magic that do high DMG
two of the best pvp racial for the class, tauren or orc.
work excellent with hunter trap
Paladin do have immunity with 5min cd, good for defending every 5min. But I would rather kill my enemies.
I’m not asking for paladin buff, for I don’t play that gimp class, but c’mon shaman need nerf in pvp
Removing bubble for Paladin would completely cripple the class unless something else, equally powerful was given. I don’t see how that could happen without completely changing the class.
Racials are a problem both directly and indirectly, the latter being the bigger problem. I mean of course that the best pvpers will choose horde for the racials, thus the best pvpers typically will be in horde.
For Paladin mobility, it would help a lot if pursuit of justice worked like later versions, giving 15% speed increase instead of 8%. Even if it takes a rune to upgrade it so.
Or simply allow it to stack with boot enchant
People dont really grasp how much of a rock paper scissor this game is. From phase to phase, some classes have it better, some have it worse. Some classes have an easier PVE life, some dont. Look at warriors now. PVE kings, PVP peasants. Also, everybody is subjective - if you ask me, in 99% of the WSGs that I do, the alliance has healers, horde doesn’t. The enemy druid, some sweaty kid living in 2006, pops consumes like candies and uses every single possible helpful engi/quest item known to mankind, while the horde doesn`t even have a fc. Oh, and I rarely get groups that have more than 1 sham. And the enemy has 4+ hunters. On the other hand, if you ask the alliance, they all say the horde teams are stacked with shams … so perspectives and perspectives.
Just enjoy the run bois and treat the game as a game.
This is your perception, but it doesn’t change the fact how much stronger shaman is in PvP compared to Paladin - a problem that will affect all of us, once the Alliance stops playing BGs more and more.
Some sort of change needs to happen, I don’t mind if it’s Alliance getting access to shamans or racials getting overhauled, the big issue is that Blizzard will have to give people a huge incentive to play Alliance PvP again …
I’m not a highly skilled PvP player, but the point still stands:
I play Paladin = lose 90% of matches
I play Shaman= win 90% of matches
So how does this make Paladin good, exactly?
On the point of purge: if I make them waste a GCD, they make me waste a GCD.
The buffs and tools a Paladin brings exist now in better versions on other classes (save for BoP, which is purge-able and “only” stops physical damage)
its not about the GCD, its about mana consumption.
downranking purge means you only remove 1 buff on the enemy, so you defacto cannot downrank it.
all you have to do is spam rank 1 seals (the shaman can’t see which rank you’re using, he can only guesstimate it based on your mana bar) and if the shaman spampurges you he will oom in 5-6 gcds.
if he doesn’t have shamanistic rage up its gg for him at this point.
