Here’s my 2c, I’ve been playing my alliance priest lately and the vast majority (of the very few people that queue anymore alliance-side) are absolutely atrocious.
Terrible gear/rune choices/lack of game knowledge. So many of them are new or just people who do not bother that much with the game.
I am not surprised it isn’t hard to roll over such people.
I have been in awe at the skill difference between Horde and Alliance hunters, so few frost traps being used(or used poorly), focusing wrong classes, not using viper sting, esp on classes extremely vulnerable to the mana drain.
I am not saying all Alliance hunters are terrible, I’ve seen some excellent ones and the difference is immense. And that is just one example of one class.
very good point there. the skill level on ally side is sometimes just… shamefull.
recently had a round against Allies and we were actually losing towards the end. they were fairly strong (lots of pala and hunters and priests). so while it was 2:3 in AB and the points were just a lil in favour for alliance and they repelled every attack, i came up with a stupid plan. i rode towards BS, stopped, let them come, stopped, and so on and i pulled 6 allies through the battleground while 2 hordies took BS and we won the round. imba shamy did it again…
you might think so, but i dare say you aren’t even utilizing half their kit, nor playing right depending on the situation.
there is more to it than “stormstrike and earthshock on cooldown” which is a joke/meme my friends would often make about shaman in vanilla.
even in vanilla there is more to it than that, but that’s the average fotm shaman player’s understanding of the class.
you ignoring the faction imbalance in your calculation there buddy.
you lose on your paladin because your faction can’t pvp.
you win on your shaman because horde can pvp.
pretty simple.
doesn’t mean shaman is stronger than paladin.
blaming shaman (or worse; horde racials) is the excuse your average noob resorts to when he complains about his inability to win in pvp… and you don’t have to look around for long whether its wow forums, reddit, discord or anywhere else, to find many examples of alliance toons making such complainy-posts.
I’ve had a similar experience on alliance in SoD. Sure, queues are almost instant but to what good? Maybe for those ppl who want a free teleport in capital cities. Once in a blue moon you get decent ppl, most of the time you get defeatist who blame everything else but themselves.
are alliance able to form premades?
like how long is the queue if they try?
if the difference between winning and losing is instant queue vs. waiting 5-6 minutes i know which option i would go with.
I only solo queued for rank4 this reset, but most of the wins I got in both WSG and AB were clearly with some premades I randomly queued into.
WSG went flawless with a druid FC and ppl assisting.
AB what you would usually expect, ppl communicating, assisting, we won 4-1.
Sadly these were kind of far in between and most of the time ppl afk at ST after the first fight, it almost seems scripted. Another thing I noticed very few ppl try to stop a cap solo, whereas on horde I often see players fighting for flags in AB even if it means stopping the cap for a few seconds.
thanks for your reply.
i was genuinely curious on the matter of alliance being able to premade or not.
i got another reply from another alliance player who told me (his words not mine;) that alliance can premade but will have to wait a couple of minutes for the queue pop.
IF TRUE; i’m a little bit confused why you guys wouldn’t mass premade in an effort to at least try to alleviate the problem of facing constant horde premades, if only a little bit (every bit counts after all).
btw if your aim is to farm honor, i can’t recommend doing WSG unless you’re in a full premade all the time every time.
getting wsg rep is the only reason to do that bg (imo) and even then, the ashenvale daily is 1k rep per day, so its hardly worth even bothering with it atm.
your best chances (i speculate as a horde player) is premading for AB and hoping you run into fellow premades to back up your own.
the only AB’s i’ve lost are ones where there was at least 1 ally premade, whether it be an organized group or a simple stack of boomkins or shadow priests (stacks of any class usually does the trick assuming minimum efforts to organize)
A couple minutes sounds alright. I was sitting in queue in a 5man group on horde between 3 and 6 minutes, so it would be about the same.
Unrelated to the bgs I don’t know however how far I’ll take the alliance alt, since I am kind of stretching it with the 5th alt and while xp bonus and incursions made it possible, there is still WSG and AB rep I don’t have yet, but if the phase gets extended enough maybe I’ll still make it with 2x STV and Ashenvale every evening.
On the plus side alliance on Lone Wolf seems more active in pve than horde on Wild Growth. I was hoping after the free transfer to Wild Growth to have enough ppl to raid with, but we have massive roster problems.
you and everyone else bud.
even top end guilds are flat out going extinct as a result of the phase 4 delay.
i got a raid tomorrow night, and i consider myself lucky we got 11 signups (1 late).
4 absences so far.
if we got low attendance (even by this already low estimate) i’m going to have “the talk” with the boys.
either our guild dies here, or we cut the phase short and announce we are not raiding until phase 4 (and even then, we’ll probably have to put in a massive effort to recruit new blood).
even the pug pool is dry now, and the idea of having to raid with the absolute bottom tier trash that is the most desperate puggers in the mix is not a pleasant one.
no offense to the average pug enjoyer, but the good players simply aren’t among them in the pool right now… (if last week’s raid was anything to go by, in my case).
it has gotten progressively worse over the last few weeks when it comes to the average pug’s lack of skill (knowledge) on the game… like dude, we wiped 5 times on Hakkar - the loot pinata… we explained the tactics carefully every wipe and still went and continued to wipe O.o
there’s a limit to how much a few core raiders and a solid raid leader can do to pull off a successful raid… when it starts to become torture most people just sign out.
“Alliance just is bad players”
This is un-ironically the worst take on PvP I’ve ever had to endure. You realize that people aren’t born into a faction, nor are they being forced to join either or: there’s an individual reason for people to join one faction over the other and if that reason is “horde is better in PvP” then why or how are people coming to that conclusion?
People read about factions online mostly these days and every Site or Video says Horde is better, because racials/shamans.
What needs to be done about PvP is give people a PvP incentive to play Alliance and quite frankly there is too little in comparison to horde.
And yet again people are doing mental gymnastics how I personally am a bad Alliance player, but on Horde I magically become skilled.
at the end… just don’t center your day around one part of a sup genre of a sub gerne of wow. it is not built to be the ultimate state of the art pvp uber balance game. it is just crazy bar fight and if you happen to be a midget, you gonna get stomped leave the pub before 10 and you are good. also concerning the comment, people are not born in to factions… this might be true, but alliance players are just by default bad people. like vegans. meet me in front of OG.
