Today my friend fell off the griffin mid flight. He was fast and used light of elune, so he’s still alive. Though he would’ve been dead if he was afk, and now his light of elune is gone because of a bug.
Blizzard said they might gonna do something about this (teleporting you to a safe spot if you fall off) but nothing I’ve heard been implemented yet and imo isn’t even that reliable.
My solutions to this problem are two suggestions:
The first one is a slow fall every time you dismount from the griffin, even if it’s not because of a bug. This solution is probably not fail proof since when you DC on flight the game might not register that you dismount when you log in.
The second and better solution is to just let us teleport with the flight master like we did on the zeppelin to northrend when wotlk classic released. Maybe even add a timer for how long the flight takes that you are locked in place and then teleport to your location so it doesn’t get abused.
Any other ideas? I’m sick of being scared every time I’m flying and buying petri flasks just to survive bugs.
My toon just died on a Gryphon flight from Ironforge to Menethil harbor. I got a message on the screen saying: Instance not found, transfer aborted. Next thing I see my toon falling to death. This is not fair no matter how Bliz says toons will not be resurrected for any reason.
Whatever fix they would decide on would introduce 10 new game-breaking bugs. Its better to keep playing Russian-gryphon-roulette and hover over the LIP staring at your flying toon, with sweat streaming down your forehead as you fly out to open water …. Oh the horror!
Guys please keep this thread for suggesting solutions to the problem. I understand you get frustrated by these deaths, but Blizzard won’t do anything to get your characters back, but they will listen to how we can prevent these deaths.
If they make an exception for you then they have to open the gates for exceptios for everyone. They will not do this for obvious reasons, financial being only one o them.
Really good take and I agree with the searing gorge part.
However I would strongly advise some kind of timer though, to keep the Era feeling with waiting times to travel to places. An instant teleport would just feel to much retail like imo, where getting places just are is fast.
I’ve played WoW on and off since 2005
We saw Blizzard do the teleport on zeppelin on Classic Wotlk. So yeah, they will listen to their players from time to time. Let’s just hope this is one of those times
