SOM Meta Class Prediction

So what class do you guys will top the dps meters now when the wbs are gone?
Will warrior still be as good without it?

ps pls don’t turn this in to another #nochanges debate, there are other posts for that.

Probs Warlock

Nothing will change I think (warr>rogue>mage). Warlocks might get a boost tho.

Without any additional changes the order won’t really change. Builds with mana problems will have mana problems, builds that performed well will perform well. Warriors will loose a lot on WB but with gear they will scale as they scaled before.

On the other hand with loot scarcity there may be problems with gearing the most popular classes - or gearing for the most popular weapon types so in short-mid term a “weaker” build or less popular class can outperform average toon of better build/class.

Dotting is mostly a DPS loss. With more locks they will be able to add like curse of doom

I don’t think dotting dps loss. Even with world buffs corruption was good to put up if you had a spot free in classic. Without world buffs (which dots don’t scale with at all), then i think this is a pretty nice buff for warlocks.

I think you will also see most locks run a different spec to classic.

Warlocks also scaled worse with world buffs than mages/warriors, so i think they could really close that gap with mage if not overtake them. Do think warrior will still be ontop in later phases followed by rogue though

Warrior and rogue then fire mages start at AQ40 - all three will be within 10% at that point depending on tempo/pull size.

Everything else is none viable, just need two locks for curses and hunter for pulling.

non viable so you can class descriminate. that attitude will deter casuals away from classic.

but paladin/feral/shaman tanks did get stealth buffed.

I think a lot of people who are worried about a 12 month cadence not giving them enough time possibly don’t realise that Classic was only a 16ish month cadence.

If they do it evenly, say 10-11 weeks a phase, you’d be losing around four weeks on the MC->BWL period, four weeks on the BWL->AQ40 period, and a quite extreme eight weeks of AQ40->Naxx period.

Its this last one I think which could cause issues (and in extremis prompt things like guild cannibalizations as we saw in original Vanilla - especially if Naxx is made harder). But I’d need to know a lot more about the game to tell whether a scarcity of AQ40 gear would make a mix of classes better than a wall of warriors (and to a lesser degree rogues/mages).

If I am count correct from 26th August 2019 to 1st June 2021 is 21 months, so dont from where ppl are having 15 or 16 months

Imo it will be more of the same, but the debuff cap being removed, and with how WBs scaled with different classes, the differences wont be that big.

I think if people will stick to the same meta classes as in classic we’re gonna hit a brick wall come Naxx. MC BWL and even AQ40 is easy enough to be done with lesser gear but with harder bosses + increased hp we’ll see slower progression = raids go later on farm status, so less gear overall. When Naxx will release I doubt your 40 man raid will be decked out in bis gear from AQ, maybe nog even 50% geared. Especially if you have half a raid full of warriors and mages.

Combine this with bosses like Patchwerk that will now have increased hp. I remember the first months of Naxx most guilds would do Patch first to use their WB’s to kill him before he enraged.

The most hardcore guilds will raid 4 days to counter this, so that they can still get some gear from AQ or even BWL, but the question remains if there’s enough of a population left at that point that wants to burn themselves out on 4 raid days… I doubt it

By the time of Naxx a lot of people will be already looking for next fresh.

Indeed. For a lot of us the best time is between 1-60 and the first dungeons plus attunements at 60. I’ll raid a few times, but I don’t wanna run the same raid week after week. What kind of content is that? I’ll start to look forward to the next fresh around phase 3.

“Why FRESH is good” summed up by one question

Warrior > rogue > everything else that’s oom. Warlocks will still be low because they always were and Corruption is whatever. Shp/feral/enh/ele/ret/boomie are all super-oom and don’t raid unless the guild is extrememly casual (talking some no-consumes guild).

Warriors > Rogue > Fire Mage.

No healer will be miserable enough to keep healing affliction locks
