Something is wrong with the amount of spell resist

Maybe i’m wrong and pro-Vanilla can help me  .

How spell hit work VS mob ?

  • If the target is +1 level compared to caster: 95% chance of hit
  • If the target is +2 levels compared to caster: 94% chance of hit
  • If the target is +3 levels compared to caster: 83% chance of hit

You can increase the chance of hit by using hit rating gear or some talent. Anyway, there’s always 1% incompressible chance of hit, so you can only get 99% hit chance as maximum.

As Mage, I get 6% hit chance on Fire and Frost spell with “Elemental Precision” talent.

On level 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 62 mob, I barely need 0% hit. There’s already 99% chance of hit with “Elemental Precision” talent.

Can someone explain me why I got many resist on Frost Nova / Cone of Cold when there’s 1% chance they should resist my spell ?

Even with 20 mob pulled in same time, I often got 1 resist or double resist in a row.

I know some mob have spell magic resistance, but for example in Dire Maul East it seem it’s not the case. Satyr and Lasher seem to do not have any sort of Fire and Frost resistance.

Maybe sometime i’m unlucky, but well … it’s 1% chance. Do you remember how many /roll you do, that end with a 100 ? Probably zero since the start of the game.

Do you consider 18% of the time often? 'cause that’s about the chance to get at least one 1% resist if you hit 20 mobs.

You’re not understanding any mechanic wrong though. But you could check with a frost wand or Blizzard to see if they have frost resistance.

It could be just you having poor RNG, or the enemies may have some hidden resistances, but as a sidenote, I’ve gotten PLENTY of dodges and parries as a melee WHILE standing behind the target. I find the hit tables working poorly the best excuse.
