Soul Ash: a simple fix to an annoying system

It doesn’t matter.
If I find it boring and frustrating when I’m winning, then I’m going to be even more annoyed when I’ll start losing.

It’s not about whether I succeed or not.
It’s about whether I enjoy the content in and of itself. And I don’t. I simply don’t.

This is why I suggest something else earlier in the thread:
Make Soul Ash loot from other types of content, but allow a clean Torghast run to reward players with a Mythic quality (or higher, as the expansion unravels) item of their choosing. This way, you can target the slots you don’t have - which you can’t really do with the RNG nature of dungeons and raids.
This why, Torghast is very much worthwhile to do. But again, not mandatory.

What flaw would there be with that system?
It rewards those who do it, without punishing those who don’t.

So if you fail, you hate it. And if you succeed you find it boring.

Shouldn’t the same logic of yours be applied to every content you do, then?

You kill a raid boss. Boring. You die, it’s annoying.

That’s not a reason. That’s just your preference.

As for soul ash being available from other contents, then what good is this new content that’s been added? It’s like asking raid items to drop from mythic+ or world quests or some other content.

If it was a constant grind that required hours and hours of time, then i totally would have agreed with you.

But it’s an hour of content for a whole week. It’s irrelevant whether you like it or not. Things often tend to be that way in this game. Not everyone likes every single content there is in the game, but you do it for the sake of the things you want. You think it’s fun doing weekly mythic+ runs for everyone? Or doing some old raid on a weekly basis for a mount, etc. ?

And since this content is nowhere near as time consuming as what islands used to be in 8.0, and nowhere near as boring or restricting as warfronts, That’s just your problem.

I agree with you its actually just bad content. 5-6 floors with no real challenges and no time constraint either forcing you to be effective. However it takes maybe 1 hour to complete 2 runs each week so I dont really see the big problem in completing it for the soul ash. It could have been far worse like being forced to spam it for socketspots or whatever like visions.

and they were right about it.

thorgast will become very boring and repetitive for many people very soon - once they hit layers they cant faceroll and will start to feel like their time there is wasted.

my estimation it will be around floor 5-6

then they will stick to clearing like floor 5 once a week untill they get their bis upgraded and leave that place

then what will blizzard do ?

allow them to equip 2 legendaries

then 3 legendaries

and this way they will keep farming this layer 5 till end of BfA

for me its boring because its a bit to long for my liking

if it was me i would cut each layer to 3 floors - 2 floors with traps/trash (i would put in a lot more traps) and 1 floor with boss.

then it would be much more fun imo

now its to long and too boring just killing of trash

one boss floor and one reward floor. 4 floors left. you want to make that into 2? you barely get anything worth a damn in 4 levels. 6 is actually too short, but i guess for a weekly grind, has to do.

And you dont see this as a problem? People doing Thorgast because there is something they need for their character to be complete?

Remove any loot from Thorgast and have people do it for fun.

My problem with Torghast is that it feels mandatory to do because the legendaries make my character more fun to play.
Its the same reason why i have WM on because pvp talents enhance my characters gameplay.

And i hate how the classes are designed the way they are that without doung systems like these you would be playing 1/2 or 1/3 of a class.

Which is why i highly preferred the class design that came before WoD.

Grind soul ash somehere, but not in Torghast is a good idea. But they won’t do it, coz torghast generally shadowlands promo content. Idk, what they think, but another grind zone like islands is a priory fail. 2 years of this…makes mad everyone.

Just for you to know, there are people that have conditions that are playing or used to play WoW. People with personalities disorders, multiple sclerosis, color blinded people, deaf people. For some of them, parts of the game are no go, because it hurts.
But I guess if you see someone on a wheelchair on the street you just tell them to kys because if they can’t function as you can or they are not optimized they are just wasting air.

Yeah, I would like that too, because paladins like me are shivering in fear that Blizzard will gut the entire class AGAIN because of some forum whiners and mentality “being trash is part of Paladin class fantasy” and I cannot even tell what else they are gonna gut and destroy so I’m even afraid to pick an alt “just in case” at that point.

I’m afraid that after first raid tier and Blizzard furiously nerfing multiple classes to the ground there will be “grand re-roll”, because a lot of people will just abandon their current mains after they went from good to trash. They had like a year of beta and they still weren’t able to balance things properly so we have random 70% nerfs in hotfixes right now. Like the one they did to Prot Paladin 2 days ago. I admit that this nerf was deserved, but I think they probably overnerfed this making conduit not viable anymore.

And there is also one-shot madness happening in PVP, and Blizzard trying to tone down classes to PVP may actually nearly entirely delete them from the game in PVE…

In such unpleasant environment maximum alt-friendliness should be the way to go, because Blizzard will FOR SURE ruin many classes after first balancing. I don’t believe they will do “small steps” (like they promised) balancing. They will strike with giant nerf bat that will smash entire specs into the ground like they always do. And then they will stay trash for the entire expansion, because Blizzard doesn’t ever buff, only nerfs.
