So half a year has passed and its very clear to everyone that your spell batching attempt failed. Why isnt it changed? Go into the spellbatch.txt and change the value to 50 easy done goodbye
Its not to bad for warriors but its an overall thing. Theres spell batching when posting auctions, emptying mailbox, using your bank and well, every single freakin thing you do there is extra lag. That they felt the need to simulate fake lag because “thats how things were back then”. Well let me tell you, the servers have never been worse and the amount of lag on a populated server just shows how little blizzard knows. Take any single private server you want and they did a better job.
oh you dont have to convince me on that one m8. i know how trash this company is and how bad spell batching is to the game among other things. yes pvp wise private servers were better by A LONG SHOT. im having these conversations with myself everyday when i go to sleep and cry on my pillow
Are you complaining that it’s not an accurate emulation or are you complaining because you don’t like it?
I never played Vanilla retail and don’t know how it’s supposed to feel. I know it’s an important feature of authentic gameplay though.
The game felt really bad in many ways for many reasons back then.
Making the game feel clunky, slow and unresponsive to match 1998 technology is not a good enough reason to make the game less enjoyable. Warriors being able to charge each other if both press the button at some point in the same 2 second window is cool and all… But overall it’s a hellish experience. You get used to it after a while, but try logging onto a private server and play around a bit. It’s like coming up for air after holding your breath for months. Suddenly the game is responsive. It’s an amazing feeling.
So what we’re left with is an inaccurate representation of how bad the gameplay used to be. Instead of re-making the game with proper functionality, they went out of their way to make it feel worse. Which is a cool idea and it could have been great. But it’s not great. It’s just bad and unnecessary.
Are there actually any classic private servers still functioning or did Blizzard crackdown on them
It’s pretty stupid when as a Druid in WSG you can’t activate Nature’s Grasp or Travel Form for what feels like five seconds after leaving the tunnel.
That has nothing to do with spell batching though. But yes, its super annoying.
yes, it does - it’s their artificial lag that doesn’t detect you’re outside until five seconds later
No it’s not. Spell Batching has nothing to do with Druid not being able to cast travel form while moving from inside to outside.
well it wasn’t there on Northdale - and you can tell me it’s not due to spell batching all you want, that doesn’t mean I am going to pay any attention to you
Ok I can prove it for you.
When you travel from outside to inside. Does the travel form sometimes not break instantly and you travel inside for some seconds on mount and travel form?
You do that even without clicking any button.
Spell batching only affect spells and abilities you click basically. Not how the server handles movement.
I actually had a Druid on the server you mentioned and I have vivid memories of me leaving the bank and reaching the mailbox in OG before travel form could be activated. I also have that memory from most or all expansions in retail.
Spell Batching will effect you when you can click the spell. Not before you can click it. So when the server say “can only be used outdoors” and you are outdoors, that’s not due to spell batching because the spell hasn’t been batched yet.
You are probably right. It might not be spell batching but it is still some sort of batching going on. I think that, for a lot of people, the phrase “spell batching” has just become a way of saying “anything that has a delay attached to it”. Either that or a lot of people have a different idea of what spell batching is/means.
The only thing you proved is why I don’t pay any attention to your opinion
AFFECT
I have not shared my opinion in this thread. I have informed you about facts.
Sorry if that triggers you.
give it a rest, your “facts” and your anecdotal fallacies are irrelevant
The game taking up to a few seconds before detecting that you are inside/outside was also a thing in vanilla. If pirate servers didn’t have it, it’s just one of many things they got wrong.
Spell batching as we have it now however is causing a significantly longer delay to spells than it did in vanilla, and should be reduced.
Are you seriously this triggered by facts? lol
It was exactly the same on Northdale. I had a druid there. It has nothing to do with spell batching. That server also had spell batching by the way. I used it all the time on my shaman to have tremor totem break fear instantly when a warlock casted fear I would time the tremor totem to the same batch as the fear cast so it would break it instantly instead of after 5 seconds.
Well they are relevant in that they are correct
It a shame when somebody makes a cogent observation and you slam them
Imagine being so far up your own a$$ you defend spellbatching and leeway
YIKES
