Back in vanilla I had an addon that would scan your selected target and say stuff like:
XXX gains Arcane Power
XXX gains Presence of Mind
XXX gains Zandalar Hero Charm
XXX casts Counterspell
Etc. Just a couple of line thrown at you in screen, overlapping the SCT. Yet very informative in regard to what is happening. I cant really find any addon that does this atm.
Even if I knew one it wouldn’t work properly anymore because the the combat log changes.
Although you could probably pull off something with WeakAuras.
Because an addon that has peacefully existed for the majority of the game’s lifespan without any complaints was unfortunate enough to be caught in the crosshairs of a community who was on the hunt for a new boogieman.
There will likely be a workaround soon, everyone would have forgotten about it and it’ll go back to working as normal (just like the last problematic addon that became the forum boogieman).
You mean it was hiding under the radar because not many players knew about it back then so it didn’t woke the attention of Blizzard or the player community and cheaters were able to use their little cheat tool without disturbance.
Oh stop, Spy is not some underworld phenomenon peddled in secret.
Addons like Spy have existed for years because Blizzard see no issue in them, same with GatherMate, DBM, BigWigs and TellMeWhen, all of which work like a “cheat” (from a certain perspective), they’ve known about them for the better part of WoW’s lifetime and they still exist because they follow the rules.
Anyway let’s not derail the thread into yet another tired Spy whine thread, the OP asked a question.
I am not about spy, but how the combat log is actually inferior to what it was 15 years ago (not showing effects like silence, not showing resists, parries, etc.)
