[spoilers] 8.1.5 discussion thread

Honestly I’m okay with the choice thing, I just wish it was used in far more quests. I’d rather have seen it be a thing in the Darkshore pre-patch for example. They only started adding them because people were crying “IT’S NOT WHAT MY CHARACTER WOULD DO”, but only when it came to helping Saurfang and defying Sylvanas. Meanwhile my tauren is over here with the blood of thousands of NElves on his hands after having no choice in the matter like :L .

Similar to SWTOR, even if it’s ultimately an illusion of choice and the end result is similar or even identical, it at least absolves the issue of your character flipflopping between Hero of Azeroth and Slayer of Orphans based on whatever the quest text tells you to do.

It is kinda laughable that a Forsaken player character would betray their Queen, now they are finally getting respect within the Horde.

Like they had Seige of Ogrimmar 2 written out, then realised ‘Oh crap people can actually play the zombies? Ooops!’

Well if the PTR is any indication, the only impact the choices have are extremely minimal, the story will play out the same. So if they had SoO: The Sequel written out, that’s what we’re getting. As said, they only bothered adding the choices after complaints (Which leads to my complaint that this isn’t done for every controversial quest, only a select few).

Loyalist Alliance citizens should be on the lookout for any Scarlets or Scarlet-sympathisers who seek to undermine the safety and security of the kingdoms.

They may be among you - your colleagues, friends, your family even - but make no mistake that every Scarlet seeks to bring ruin to our fair lands in pursuit of a misguided and self-destructive ideology.

Be vigilant, and report any suspected Scarlet activity to your local guard station or barracks. We will protect you.

Some scarlet npcs have been frond from the look of them they seem to be spreading propaganda so…I don’t know guys there may actually be a lore reason here - don’t believe me? look up Scarlet Agitator - Scarlet Guard - just the way they are dressed as well along with the pamphlets what were datamined so far.

Sure, there can be a valid lore-reason.

My hammer arm is out of practice. Time to fix that

If I had to guess these npcs will be mixed up with the Lordaeron Citizen npcs what have also been seen its interesting anyway.

Down with the alliance lap dogs and there boy king!

I give it ten minutes before they’re the objective of a quest where you, as an Alliance player, have to arrest or kill 10 of these guys. And the Scarlets remain objectively the villains with no place in the Alliance.

don’t worry the pamphlets they give out are very anti alliance, however are they at the same time allowed be in alliance citys remains to be seen.

The latest PTR build has a bunch of responses to Baine’s arrest by Sylvanas. I can’t post the link to the build itself (you can find it on wowhead) so instead I’ll post the reactions themselves here.

Gallywix:
“Well, I didn’t see that comin’!
Wish I’d known things were gonna heat up this much. I coulda charged DOUBLE for admission!”

Lor’themar Theron:
“I cannot fault Baine’s heart, even if his actions were drastic. Through this act of defiance, he exposed a schism in the Horde that has been growing since the attack on Teldrassil.
I fear that by openly opposing Sylvanas, he may have put his own people at risk. As mine would be, were I to side with him.
These are perilous times. We must be cautious… and deliberate.”

Rohkan:
“Dis be some bad juju, mon. Da Horde gotta stick together if we gonna win dis war… but Sylvanas… she not be makin’ dat easy.
And dis just gonna throw more fuel on da fire.”

Talanji:
“Without de Horde beside us, my people would now be at de mercy of de Alliance. We owe much to de warchief… but we will not follow her blindly.
Baine Bloodhoof has shown honor and respect to de Zandalari. He must be given a chance to face his accusers and answer for dis supposed crime.”

Overlord Geyarah:
“She is no orc, but the warchief shows strength by punishing that tauren who deceived and betrayed her.
Those who lack loyalty also lack honor.”

Thalyssra:
“Our rebellion against Elisande was just, and it earned me a blade in the back. I pray Baine does not meet a similar fate.
The nightborne are still new to the Horde. Perhaps I should seek Lor’themar’s council. He understands what my people have endured, and I have learned much through our conversations.”

Mayla Highmountain:
“Is this what the Horde stands for? Imprisoning those who act with compassion and honor?
Perhaps my people should have never left Highmountain…”

Rexxar:
“There are others who must hear of this, $n.
And they will.”

Garona:

“You see what happened to Baine? To Zelling? That’s why we need to lay low, keep our heads down, follow the warchief’s lead. At least for now.
Baine’s mistake wasn’t acting against Sylvanas. His mistake was acting too soon.”

Eitrigg:
“Years ago, Tirion Fordring sacrificed everything to spare my life as a matter of honor. Baine has done much the same. Are we now to punish him for it?
I fear the Horde is becoming what we once hated, $c. And I do not like it.”

Lilian Voss:

“Thomas Zelling has… had… a family in life. He made me promise to keep them safe, even after they called him a monster and shunned him for being undead. It is a promise I will continue to keep.
If they ever ask how he met his fate, I will tell them that he died a hero.
We Forsaken are raised with free will. That’s what separates us from the Scourge. Sylvanas Windrunner used to take pride in that distinction.
But after all I have seen in this war, I must wonder if that still holds true.”

Only thing I care about atm is that Blizzard free up so we can have 50 characters on Argent Dawn.

Endless possibilities!

Lor’themar once more shows why the Blood Elves are the eternal fairweather friends.

Wonder when he’s going to enter negotiations with the Alliance this time.

Mayla unironically channels the rest of the Horde playerbase.

I find Lilian’s comments the most interesting though - possible setting her up for a leadership role post-Sylvanas? Would be acceptable honestly.

Blood and and Nightborne union now, remove stinky horde tbh.

Since when does Lilian identify as a Forsaken or care what Sylvanas claimed she stood for?

Yeah, Lillian has had a lot of character development Blizzard style*.

*It’s just not shown to us.

Potential plot power on Sylvanas must be over 200% by now :dagger:

She’s gone into hiding now that Baine’s low intrigue stat caused him to be discovered.
