I wouldn’t call the inclusion of fake player choices and remolding a number of lore characters to suit the narrative a better build-up. At least in MoP Garrosh was the only one who went nuts. In BFA almost all faction leaders either pulled a 180 turn or are hellbent on pleasing the Alliance because yet another big bad has appeared.
God forbid we get a 3-way war because the Big Bad of the content patch turns out to be weaker than anticipated and the AllianceVHorde animosity could keep escalating.

They absolutely could’ve had us go “oh he’s not that big of a deal we can still fight each other” with foreshadowed in-universe reasoning.

This is incredibly shady/sad since Blizzard have shown in the past that according to them negativitiy=anyone who doesnt praise them to high heavens. They consider critique negative and they have shown this many times.
Meaning they will only listen to yes-sayers.

Its gotten to quite extreme lengths in BfA as well. The Q&A’s for/during BfA have been following the same pattern: Half of it is them saying to eachother what great story they have, and the second half is anwsering mainly questions that aren’t criticising anything.

The BFA Q&As have not been Q&As at all, they were dev vlogs.
If they actually had to do a Q&A their marketing team would need to spend a month picking out the questions that aren’t direct or veiled criticism from the sea of justified negativity.

I was gonna make a comment about how Blizzard is essentially a teenager writing weird Lotr fanfic on a forum, when it comes to taking criticism from others.
But that’s not fair, they are writing WoW fanfic now, with “totally original idea do not steal”.
