[Spoilers] Shadowlands Alpha

I don’t want to have to work with Jaina again. We’ve come to the points where the NPCs are going “Woooah, Jaina is so awesome!”
I just… Just kill her, let the woman retire, I don’t care, I just don’t want to see her again, please.

I wish the Jailer had no voice, or at least talked in an indiscernible ancient tongue. Watching him stare from atop the precipice, seeming to know we were coming and just waiting patiently, was far more intimidating than any villain we’ve had recently. It reminds me of the Night King merely watching most of Hardhome unfold in GoT.

Sadly he sinks right back into the stereotypes we’ve suffered with the Burning Legion, and shortly turns into a yelling “YOU’RE ALL DOOMED YOUR WORLD IS MINE MY ARMY ENDLESS” villain.

In my ideal world, neither Arbiter nor the Jailer speak, for every word they might utter would rend those around them asunder, and instead they communicate through projecting emotional auras.

Most good, some bad.

The majority of the playerbase that don’t pay attention to story / skip all quest text / exhibit similar vices just needed another faction leader that was “really sexy” because coom factor has always been present to some degree in this game (see: literally any female character that is at least semi-attractive and the subsequent response from the playerbase)

I was excited to see where Calia would go when she was alive, but shiny undead Calia is vastly less compelling to me and I’ve been given little reason to have almost any investment in her at all, at least personally. I’m not sure what others think, but it seems most people agree to some extent

“Anduin but faux-Undead and a woman” turns out not to be that interesting a character, who coulda guessed?

From what I’ve gathered Anduin doesn’t even have a particularly massive fan base to begin with either, so I’m genuinely not sure what the drive for Calia was beyond shoehorning in another ‘light’ element because of this distant but looming storyline of “the void… versus the light… but wait… the light is not as good as you think”

I don’t even dislike the whole notion of “what if light = bad?” all that much, but Calia would’ve already been much more interesting just being a regular Forsaken character rather than also becoming a golden glowstick for some reason

the writing team loves him so who cares lol

Which power though? So far the Night Warrior seems weaker then OG Tyrande.

The Arbiter doesn’t speak, at least.

My vote is for a blend of low droning and 1998 modem screeching for a truly alien being.

I would like that very much. Or well, something similar. It should be garbled up, hard to understand (yet with recognizable elements) in some form of proto-language.

They could go the Destiny 2 route where this thunderous AI (Rasputin) speaks in some distorted russian and so an interpreter is required for the Player Character, in the form of another character closer in build/status to us being present and acting as a ‘guide’.

I watched a streamer do missions in the Maw. It turns out the souls of mechagnomes keep their mechanized limbs when they die.

I can’t even begin with this.

Also Darion Mograine was there and apparently got to carry or use what’s left of the helm of domination. He is eager to get rid of it once you complete the quests involving him.

You made me imagine mechagnome nuggets floating around Shadowlands.

Well, souls in fiction tend to depict people the way they appeared at the time of their death, or how they prefer to look. If a mechagnome wants to keep their mechalimbs after death, what right does the afterlife have to say otherwise?

The Jailer in the intro questline is probably the most boring possible way they could have taken his character. Dude spamming generic bad guy monologue lines like ‘my army is infinite…’, and ‘all that you know shall turn to dust!’. This is why you should never expect anything huge from Blizzard - they’ll always go for the most obvious, zZzZzZZZzz directions for their plot.

Anything sinister about him slips through my fingers like sand because the writing team seemingly cannot do anything beyond big existential threats who just want to destroy everything. GG, honestly awful and it shocks me to know that people are getting paid for this. Is there some shady nepotism or favoritism going on with the writing team or what?

As a native Russian speaker, I couldn’t understand a thing he says.
